The old market town of St. Austell lies just a few miles from the south coast, and is famous for its China Clay mining history. Visit the beautiful sandy beach at Porthpean, or spend time at Carlyon Bay with its ever-popular shingle beach, a favourite for sun worshippers, but if you prefer a dip in the water, Polkerris is the place for you. Situated in a safe cove, it is renowned for variety of watersports. Whether it’s sailing, windsurfing or swimming you're looking for, Polkerris Beach has it all. Charlestown is a pretty, historical port just two miles away, famous for its collection of tall ships riding at anchor in the harbour, and is well worthy of a visit whilst staying in St. Austell. A short drive will take you to fashionable Fowey or the fishing port of Mevagissey, and with lots to do, and something to keep the whole family entertained, St. Austell is a great year round location.

Wow what a beautiful cottage set on a working farm away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to many attractions Cornwall has to offer. We stayed at Leghorn for a week, a family of 4 with two daughters. The cottage is decorated to a very high standard and was plenty large enough for us. On the bottom floor there was the double bedroom with an ensuite /shower whilst upstairs was the twin room with ensuite/bath. Which was ideal for our teenage girls. The heated towel rails came in handy too. Leghorn is very well equipped for a self catering holiday from the cooker, fridge, microwave and dishwasher right down to the bottle opener. The cream tea left for us on arrival was a lovely gesture. The owners are very friendly and are on hand with any queries...not that we had any. We had our very own hot tub set in a little barn which was a god send at the end of busy sightseeing or visiting family days. You can have the barn door open and take in the Seaview whilst relaxing away. We also enjoyed the daily evening visit from the grumpy goat (lovely really) and had a walk around the farm to visit the baby calves, sheep. Chickens and horses. It really is a beautiful peaceful location and we had restful night sleeps in the comfortable beds. We certainly will be visiting again very very soon.

What a beautiful cottage in a fantastic location.. Everything we needed was here and the cream tea was a lovely bonus. We definitely recommend Leghorn to everyone and are looking forward to coming back for another visit, possibly bringing more people and taking Black Rock too! The hot tub was big enough to share and was the perfect temperature. Both of our dogs had an amazing time too and having their own field to play in was the icing on the cake!

I had a wonderful stay at Leghorn.. The barn conversion is finished to an exceptionally high standard, was fully equipped, immaculately clean, comfortable, and in a stunning location. Waking up and opening the stable door and taking in the sea view was breathtaking. Easy reach of some amazing ‘hidden gem’ coves that Cornwall has to offer.

The property we stayed in was lovely, the beds were extremely comfortable and the hosts Paul & Jane were most welcoming, loved the cream tea and fresh milk for a cuppa after our long journey.. We had a sicky newborn with us and a mischievous toddler, they were most accommodating with us having to do washing and also having to entertain our little boy around their beautiful farm. Definitely would return and it's ideal location to visit most places in Cornwall.

We had a great week in Leghorn, we stayed from 20th July.. The barn is perfectly placed to see Cornwall, we enjoyed day trips to Truro, Port Issac and Newquay. The owners were extremely welcoming but respected our privacy, we didn't feel at anytime as though we were sharing a property which was really nice. The 2 fields to walk the dog on the farm had beautiful views over the bay and our dog enjoyed his early morning walk there. Par beach was great for walking the dog and was never crowded, just a 5 minute drive away. Overall we could not fault it.

We all loved our week in the cottage.. The view was amazing and a lovely way to start the day was with a cup of coffee and looking out to sea. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable, the dressing gowns were a nice touch. The kitchen provided everything which was needed. The cottage is in a great location and we never travelled far but saw some beautiful beaches and lovely towns such as Fowey and Charlestown. The Eden Project was a great day out too. We all have come home relaxed and refreshed after our fabulous break, which has been helped by the incredible weather.

I would not normally write a negative review.. However , after giving the owner an opportunity to financially compensate us for the lack of facilities- and being offered £15- I decided to. Upon arrival at the cottage we were told that the hot tub would not be ready until the next evening. We were incredibly disappointed as it was only a 2 night stay and we had only booked this particular cottage owing to it having the hot tub. We had taken our children kayaking and had promised them an evening in the tub. In addition to this the hot tub is housed in a roofed, dark, musty stone outhouse .

Fantastic location with beautiful seaviews from the cottage.. We had a really lovely break staying at leghorn cottage, it was home from home with everything you could possibily need and more! The cottage was furnished and decorated to a very high standard, we didnt want to leave! There was a cream tea waiting for us on arrival which was a lovely touch and Paul and Jane were very welcoming and full of information with regards to sightseeing. We would definitely Recommend this cottage to family and friends and cannot wait to stay again in the near future!

Cottage was well equipped, clean and a nice cream tea provided on arrival which is much appreciated. Right, now where do I start! Didn’t find the owners friendly or helpful at all during our stay. Lovely hot tub provided but you can only use it if you have the key and to get the key we had to keep texting, calling and knocking at their house. So they went out for the day, without asking us if we wanted to use the hot tub, so we couldn’t use it for the whole day - then they said there was a time restriction on when you could use it by. On holiday you don’t want to be on your phone the whole time texting and calling the owners just to get the hot tub key, they should let both cottages sort it - we were the only people at the cottage for 4 days till a family came, so we didn’t understand why we couldn’t keep the key until they came or put the key in a safe place so we could just alternate on when to use it. They say it is dog friendly but it is far from it, we went on walks everyday and they did get muddy, so we wanted to shower them to keep the cottage clean but only 1 Dog towel was provided. As the towels were in daily use they got muddy so I went down to the private shared cottage washing machine to find out that the owner is using them for her own washing. (This happened on a couple of occasions) So I went back later to wash the towels just to encounter the woman who owns it, no friendly greeting or smile just a “you are not washing those here, the washing machines are not for dog towels” The woman was not friendly in the slightest, not even an apology. The husband was understanding. Overall I would not return, they were not friendly hosts and their description needs to be edited as the log fire provided came with no logs and no instructions for the fire or anything else, they are not Dog friendly and need they need to specify what you cannot do.

What a lovely week ! The owners were more than accommodating. The photos online don’t go the cottage justice. Would highly recommend it
