Resting in a lovely location with pleasant views, Lane Head is a homely cottage in a delightful part of England.

The village of Cartmel features streamside walks, quaint cobbled streets with antique shops, a charming gift shop, welcoming, traditional pubs serving real ale. Take advantage of excellent walking opportunities amidst unspoilt countryside, visit the National Hunt Racecourse and the quiet seaside retreat of Grange-over-Sands, with its Edwardian buildings and mountain backdrop, 2 miles away.

We spent a fabulous Festive week at Lane Head and enjoyed our break so much. The cottage is so cosy, with a real home from home feel. Carmel itself was so very pretty and quaint, with the excellent L'enclume (which we loved) and also great pubs. The Cavendish was very welcoming and a great spot post walk. The best walk for our dog was Foot Fell Park, he loved it there. Finally, the full week was so exceptional because of an exceptional host...Mary. From the moment we arrived to sadly leaving Mary was so very warm and generous. Thank you Mary.

Lane Head Cottage is perfection, beautifully furnished and in a lovely location.. The owner is very friendly an helpful and has thought of everything, even to supplying led hand torches in the bedside cabinets in case of any emergencies. The cottage is tucked away in a beautiful, rural location approx 2 miles from Cartmel.. It is so peaceful; only the sound of birds, insects, cows, horses and chickens can be heard. Lane Head has been carefully planned with every necessity thought of and furnished to a very high standard. Amazing views from the from the bedroom and balcony. Mary was a super host - welcoming, yet not intrusive, and thoughtful with little treats throughout our stay and recommendations for eateries, walks, etc. We will definitely return. When we left, it felt as if we’d made new friends in Mary and Lane Head - a truly delightful place to relax and unwind.

The cottage was just perfect for two people and a dog.. Mary ,the owner of the cottage showed us around the cottage,explaining how to use the facilities which was very helpful ( sometimes you are ready for coming home before you have learned to master a complicated microwave!!) She was most welcoming and made us feel very much at ease with our little Jack Russell. We have never been in a cleaner cottage or in prettier surroundings and will be returning in the very near qfuture.

Mary was an outstanding host.. She welcomed us with open arms and we left feeling like we said farewell to a dear friend. The photographs do not do the cottage any justice at all as the interior is much higher spec than expected. Lane Head is a true gem in the most picturesque countryside.

The cottage was lovely and comfortable and in a great location.. The owner was extremely friendly and welcoming and went out of her way with little extras to make our stay special. The surrounding areas are beautiful and we had a fantastic week away.

We stayed with our two little dogs, the owner kindly agreed to let us have an extra one stay! What a find! Lovely little cottage, clean and has everything you need to hand. Mary was helpful and very friendly but wasn't intrusive. Quiet location but a short drive or walk to the Cartmel, very pretty with pubs and eateries. A great stay, one of our best breaks away!

Lovely location and very peaceful.. Mary the host was very helpful and made us very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. The views from the upstairs bedroom and balcony were so lovely and the facilities were very good. Hope to return again someday soon. Lovely area for dog walking and our dog was made very welcome. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived.. The cottage is beautifully presented and is situated in a very peaceful tranquil setting with amazing views and yet the local facilities are not far away in the lovely village of Cartmel.
