Area Ballinrobe is a market town on the River Robe in County Mayo, close to Lough Mask, Lough Carra and Lough Corrib. Geographically, it is ideally located as a touring base for those wishing to explore Galway, Mayo and west Ireland. Dating back to the 1300s, Ballinrobe is believed to be the oldest town in South Mayo, and is surrounded by many features of archaeological, architectural, historic and ecological interest. Ballinrobe is known as the lake angling centre of the west, and with 60,000 acres of lough fishing, and miles of river fishing close by, it is easy to see why. For day trips, the stunning Mayo coastline can be easily reached in half an hour, and a visit to the world-famous Connemara National Park, with its breathtaking walks and amazing scenery, makes for an unforgettable day trip.
Region The West of Ireland conjures up many images; thatched, whitewashed cottages, a flock of sheep on a narrow road, an emerald green field with a stone wall, or the Atlantic waves crashing into towering cliffs and rocky shores.

General to say that this cottage is a Little Bit below everage compared with Others.. Frankly speaking we were disapointed in terms of comfort and especially in cleanliness. Old furniture, old carpets, Not all lamps are working, dust in the corners. The biggest disadvantage is the missing Shower. This was clear from the beginning, but is a minus in comfort. All in all ok, but a Bit shabby/tacky.
The good Thing is that is a nice Place and very Ideal for dayTours in the North of Ireland. Village close By with good Supermarket.

This is a lovely stone cottage close to Ballinrobe, and dates back to pre-famine times. Its a good location for exploring lough mask and surrounds. Our main issue with the cottage was that it was very cluttered and dusty, with quite a few cobwebs. There was no shower, and only a vertically-challenged adult would be able to use the bath as it was situated under the eave upstairs. The freezer also had the remains of some fish blood at the bottom of it. There is an extensive (thousands) DVD collection in the house, but they overpower the house, and it would be better if they were culled. I think pets were allowed stay and so the furniture had a lot of animal hair and dust on it - not great if your kids are allergic to it.

Lovely character cottage. Reasonably priced, nice setting, only problem is there was no shower and at 6' 3" its quite a struggle getting iin and out of the bath. Other than that, a lovely cottage situated in a quiet place with plenty of things to do and see
