Howle Hideaway is a lovely, comfortable, clean cottage.. It is located in beautiful countryside with lots of woodland walks nearby. The owners are friendly, welcoming and helpful.

August 2020
Lovely spot for a restful week but with plenty of walking and the river nearby for canoing .. Cottage was spotless and very comfortable with a lovely garden with morning and lunch time sun and dappled shade in the afternoon which was much needed in the heat wave . A decent pub nearby in Goodrich only five minute drive away but you do need to drive down the hill to get any where . However for walkers the cottage is very near plenty of footpaths to explore the local area . Thank you to the owners who were very helpful and friendly and we loved the addition of the alpacas and Mony and Hector the dogs who greeted us each day in the garden . Yes the spiral staircase is an issue if you are older and a bit frail as the bathroom is down stairs so night time loo jaunts are fun but fine if you have no mobility issues. However the cottage is beautifully presented ,was immaculate and to have our own little garden to sit in and chill out was just perfect . Thank you so much for a lovely stay .

The cottage is located in a quiet location with stunning views of the surrounding countryside.. The accommodation was of a high standard with open plan living area and kitchen, ground floor shower room, first floor bedroom accessed by a wooden spiral staircase and a lovely paved south facing patio overlooking fields and woodland. On arriving we received a warm welcome by the owners and we were delighted with all the little extras that the accommodation had to offer. Access to the alpaca and sheep on the farm was a delight and getting up close and personal a special touch and we would definitely return here again for a short break.

An excellent cottage, beautifuĺly furnished and fitted out with easy parking right outside.. The location is very private and peaceful, being at the end of a private farm lane accessed through a gate. The owners made us very welcome. The ground floor accommodation is generous for a one bedroom unit with lovely patio and access to the surrounding paddocks, where alpacas and sheep may be grazing. The spacious and well furnished bedroom is accessed via a spiral staircase, which could be challenging for anyone with limited mobility. An excellent base for exploring the area, or simply to chill out. Your own transport is essential given the very rural location.

Fabulous cottage in beautiful surroundings .. We were made to feel very welcome by Paul with lots of info about the property and the local area. The cottage itself was perfect for us with everything we needed and was beautifully decorated throughout, it was a pleasure to come back to the peacefulness after days out in the area .Definately a well deserved 5*rating. The cottage itself is situated in a perfect position for exploring many beautiful towns and villages and also the stunning scenery of the Brecon Beacons and the Forest of Dean.We would definately return.

We had a wonderful time.. The cottage was lovely and very peaceful, hosts were great and we had everything we needed. The location and views were beautiful. Lots to see and do in the surrounding areas, plenty of hill walks and Ross-on-Wye not too far by car.

June 2018
We were worried this cottage would be difficult to reach ,it proved to be in a very convenient location ,less than 2 mins from a B road and 10 mins from Ross on Wye and until almost the farm entrance a wide enough road to allow 2 cars to pass easily, it is on a smallholding more than a farm ,with many footpaths close by. Hideaway has a private garden overlooking a lovely grassed paddock . The cottages are furnished and finished to a high standard . You should be aware that there is a narrow spiral staircase which may present a difficulty for anyone with mobility issues. We enjoyed Zam Zam ,The Man at Ross ( see separate reviews ) . Goodrich castle with its brilliant audio tour .Symonds Yat a beautiful spot but very touristy, lots of lovely walks .

This was our first time to this part of England and the property was ideal. Everything was as described and it is a great location for exploring the surrounding area such as Symonds Yat, the Forest of Dean and other places on the River Wye. We went cycling and walking in the area. The owner was very accommodating and all our needs were met. They even ensured we had good weather. Do take heed of the comments in other reviews about the spiral staircase and we were able to use the owner's own wifi which we were grateful for.

This property has it all. Well appointed, comfortable accommodation combined with a lovely setting with excellent views from every aspect. The owner greeted us warmly and we were provided with a welcome pack containing local produce. The area is ideal for walkers or for exploring the area by car. I cannot think of a single way this property could be improved. However the spiral staircase to the bedroom could present problems to less mobile visitors.

Howle Hideaway is a real gem hidden in the depth's of the Herefordshire countryside. The house has been beautifully decorated throughout to a very high standard and was a real 'cosy' place to stay as a couple. The property had a very large open plan lounge and kitchen with the bedroom on the first floor (via a quite tight spiral staircase). The owners of the property were very helpful and were willing to help out when we encountered problems with the weather (it snowed very heavily when we were there). There is also a lovely pub about a mile away which does grea food. All in all a great little hideaway for a romantic getaway from it all!
