Horton Scar House is a luxurious, detached cottage in the village of Horton-in-Ribblesdale. The cottage sleeps five people in three bedrooms which are a king-size double with an en-suite, a super king-size double (zip/link, can be a double on request) and a single room. There is also a bathroom, a kitchen, a dining room with a sitting area, a sitting room with a woodburning stove and a summer room. Outside is off road parking for two cars, bike storage and a gravelled patio with furniture. With fabulous views of Pen-y-Ghent, this is an ideal cottage for a memorable holiday. Note: One well-behaved dog welcome.

Area
This beautiful Ribblesdale village sits within the National Park and provides home to lots of pretty traditional Dales buildings, a lovely Norman church and two pubs. The surrounding countryside is magnificent, offering the ideal location for fell walking, with the famous Three Peaks Walk, Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough offering some of the most challenging walks in the country. The famous Settle-Carlisle Railway passes through the village and passes some of the most beautiful and inspiring upland scenery in the country.

The house has a dated feel about it.. The washing machine/tumble dryer needs replacing as it doesn’t dry. The dinning room is dark. But the main living room has beautiful views. The bigger bedroom did not have the bigger bed. The main bathroom has a design flaw. Stepping out of shower with little clearance from the toilet and sitting on the toilet without being in the shower. I had a bath not realising that hot water came from a tank and ended up with cool bath.

The house location is much better than we'd expected, well worth shouting about.. The owners were extremely helpful. The house was way bigger than we expected, is very well equipped, and the woodburner works wonderfully. For us, the presence of an electric vehicle charger clinched the choice of this property and the lack of such properties is what's prevented us from booking via Sykes in recent years - please allow EV chargers to be searched as a property criteria. One aspect for improvement - we had to call the owners again to ask for more accurate directions. You really need to email better details with future bookings. The address is 4 Rock View. It makes sense to turn into the road called Rock View, but in fact the holiday cottage is down the next road along with no sign of it until you get there and spot the number.

Lovely cosy dog friendly comfortable cottage.. We loved coming back after a long walk with the dogs, lighting the log burner and settling down for a relaxing evening in. Just as well as the pubs only open intermittently in the winter although we had a nice meal in both of them. Was pleased we took basic supplies with us as Settle is the nearest town there was no shop in the village. Cottage was difficult to find on arrival as it was very dark and it’s down a track off the road but Martin couldn’t have been more helpful or hospitable - we’re already thinking about booking for next year.

Lovely cottage.. Very warm and comfortable. Cosy lounge with a lovely wood burner. Bedrooms and bathroom good. Excellent water pressure in shower and plenty of hot water. The only slight negative was the lack of tea towels. Only one provided for four people over four days. Would definitely stay again.

It's a wonderful cottage set in the heart of the village on the Pennine Way.. The cottage was well equipped and lovely and warm. The wood burning stove was great and made it really cosy. We we definitely stay there agsin

We've just spent Christmas week in this fabulous cottage. The property is tastefully furnished to a high standard and very comfortable. It's warm and cosy, especially if you light the log fire! The kitchen is well equipped, and had everything we needed to cook a full Christmas lunch. It was lovely to arrive and find the Christmas tree up in the living room, and a complimentary bottle of wine in the kitchen (the latter was much appreciated!) The cottage is in a fantastic location in this quiet village and ideal as a base if you enjoy the open countryside and walking. I would, however, suggest you bring a torch if staying during the winter, as there is minimal street lighting in the village. It's a very dark walk down to the pub without one!

Horton Scar House provided my family and I with a wonderful holiday. Ideally located to enjoy the surrounding countryside and nearby towns and villages, we had a glorious week exploring the Yorkshire Dales. The house itself was most comfortable and well equipped with everything we could need - as much as enjoyed walking through the Dales, the house quickly became a home from home which we looked forward to returning to each evening. Horton Scar House has much to recommend it - we look forward to returning soon!

Horton Scar House is a fantastic cottage with an excellent location for walking the hills and mountains in the area. It was like having your own home but in a beautiful spot. We would 100% recommend this cottage.

The cottage and where it is situated have the wow factor. Inside, the cottage was spotless and had a lovely feel to it throughout. There were lots of nice little touches to make you feel at home. The owners are really nice and very helpful with loads of details before your holiday to make the stay everything it should be. There were great walks from the door and in the village, we would definitely recommend and hope to return in the future.

The property is in an excellent position where you don't have to travel too far for some fabulous walks. The house itself felt comfortable as soon as you walked in, which made a relaxing holiday. A week wasn't long enough for us, so we will be returning!

A beautiful cottage in a lovely peaceful area with breathtaking views from every window. A real home from home with everything you need and more. The area is a paradise for hill walkers. The wifi is excellent and the log fire is so warm and cosy. We had a lovely break and could of stayed a lot longer. We would highly recommend this cottage and we will definitely be returning soon.
