We had this cottage booked for next weekend for 7 nights. Received email from Sykes last night saying they had to cancel, due to the owner. After calling Sykes it turns out the owner had now decided they were going to stay there for our dates. They had full payment, left us with 8 days notice. After almost 1hr30 mins on phone with Sykes to get full refund, we were told refund can take up to 10 days!!! We are to await a confirmation email. No reference number given, only told to wait!!! How is this acceptable?! I have used other cottage rental websites and never experienced this. I strongly advise everyone to avoid this property, as it is clearly the owner who feels they can treat their customer like this. Totally unacceptable. Read small print re cancellation policies when booking on Sykes, so that you are fully aware that your holiday can be ruined with 7 days notice, and no garuntee that you will have refund back in time to book again. Beware!!

Would be good to have a landline.. The cooker/oven did not have any graduation to help it. Most things where fine. The Sky box only had free view. No Sky at all. I do love the isolation.

Lovely home from home. This house is down a track from a country road. It’s surrounded by fields with sheep and cows who wander round the house. No Wi-fi and phone signal hit or miss but not a problem. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms, perfect for my husband and me and our son who came with us. Countryside round about absolutely beautiful and plenty to see and do.

The lodge was great.. we like the facilities and the cleaniness. But it was a hassle for us to find the place. We were in stress and hurry to sleep on that night in order to complete our cross Loch Ness swim on that day. It wasn't easy that there was no mobile phone nor internet signal at all there at the location and tried to reach your service to figure out the direction and details.

The cottage was as described, however, the remoteness and road conditions were not what we were expecting.. It also was not as welcoming as most Sykes aquired cottages. It doesn't come close to the cottage we stayed in in Northern Ireland and both have four ticks. The cottage was very spacious and comfortable. Not having wifi is a drawback and never could get a signal on the TV. We were there to sightsee so that wasn't a big issue. There was no information booklet with nearby stores and/or restaurants and to operate appliances. Ovens are different across the pond, but we figured it out. We had stopped in Fort Augustus and bought what we thought we would need. We had also read about the Whitebridge Hotel restaurant. We recommend it but make a reservation!! One evening they were full and couldn't seat us. We did manage to get takeout burgers! The washer and dryer were greatly appreciated. Also, no instructions on the gate. There were sheep all around the cottage so we made sure the gate was always closed. This is a great place if you want to just relax and enjoy your surroundings. If you are sightseeing plan on a lot of driving. Someplace to hang wet towels in the master bath would be nice.

Braewood was in a wonderful position, it is remote and peaceful, for a get away from it all holiday.. The views from the back were amazing and we had many wild visitors including hares and red squirrel. The weather for our two weeks was unusually good for Scotland .

Braewood is a lovely house.. It is much larger inside than the photographs imply. It is a comfortable property and has everything you need. No WiFi, also mobile signal pretty weak, but it was rather nice not to have these things. Sheep and cows roam freely around the property so the gate should be kept shut at all times. Great location for getting away from it all, but close enough to lots of walks, castles etc. Fort Augustus is the nearest town and Inverness about an hour away. We ate in the local Whitebridge Hotel a couple of times and would highly recommend it. All in all a wonderful holiday - great weather (apart from about half an hour of rain). Would definitely go back.

The easy of booking and arriving at our holiday house was fantastic.. The description and photos don’t do the house justice, it exceeded expectations, the views were stunning, house was like home from home.kitchen well equipped, toys for toddler which she thought it was like Christmas going into the garage to find a slide, play tent and more. Although sky tv is advertised it was painfully slow but this added to our highland experience. No WiFi no phone signal and limited tv makes u go out walk, play cards, scrabble. Really enjoyed our break, would definitely recommend this house and look forward to returning one day. Thank you

Very clean and reasonably well-furnished, spacious bungalow. Good sized bedrooms with very comfy beds, was great for six of us. Great views overlooking mountains, through patio doors in living room. Kids loved seeing ships in the neighbouring farm. Quiet and secluded location, central to many sightseeing locations in highlands (Inverness, Fort Williams, Fort Augustus etc.), but it still took time (up to an hour) to get around these places due to roads aren't very easy to drive through as expected. The house was good for my disabled mother as it's a bungalow, with shower rooms. I'd suggest disabled guests to bring their own shower room stool though. The only major downside was that there was no internet wifi or mobile network. We had SIM cards from three different providers, EE, Vodafone and Three. None of them worked, also our mobiles didn't locate any other network. This was quite an issue for planning trips, buying tickets etc., also we were really worried when my aged parents had to stay at home one day as we went out for a day trip, as any medical emergency could have been a nightmare. I would strongly recommend owners to get a phone/broadband connection if possible at all. That would make it a perfect holiday home!

The accomodation was a modern bungalow and quite spacious and clean. However it was lacking in facilities. It had no wi-fi and that made it difficult to plan things as there was no mobile signal either. No dishwasher. Of the 3 bedrooms, only one had a wardrobe. The others were limited to a chest of drawers and some hooks on the backs of the doors. It's situated on a large plot of land. There's plenty of space to park cars but it's just gravel around the bungalow then wild grass. It's not a cultivated garden. It's got very good views of the hills and farmland which we found very pleasant but there's only a picnic bench to sit out on. The nearby pub is in Whitebridge. We went once. The beer was good and the staff were friendly but we didn't try the food. It's just over a mile away - walkable in daylight but you wouldn't want to walk back in the dark as there's no pavement so you have to walk in the road. Fort Augustus has the nearest shop and it can take a while to get anywhere as much of the road in either direction is single track with passing places.

A lovely cottage in a beautiful area. The only noise is the bleating of the sheep, and of an evening you could sit and watch hares and deer run through the neighbouring fields. We had a wonderful time, it was a pity I only booked a week.

The cottage was in beautiful surroundings, had awesome views and was peaceful, just what the doctor ordered. With no distractions, only the birds, cows and sheep for company and the daily visits from a family of hares. The cottage was fully equipped with everything we needed and it was very spacious with plenty of room for 6 adults.

Spent a week here recently and the property was easy to find and as described. Excellent cottage with gravelled area around - no garden as such but no disadvantage as views to mountains from the front were stunning. Facilities good and when chilly at night heating system was first class. Nearest shop was at Foyers which was well stocked and included a cafe and lovely home baking. Great week at a lovely cottage and would return again sometime in the future
