We enjoyed our stay in Wood Cottage helped by the excellent weather.. A few things would have helped:- Needed a large pyrex dish to cook porridge in the microwave. Only 1 medium pan and it did not have a lid so made cooking of veg and potatoes difficult. The freezer comparment of the fridge was not powerful enough to keep the ice-cream frozen or refreeze the ice blocks. The cupboards had too many items in them and need a good sort out. Looks as though previous guests had left the half used shampoo and other toiletries behind. Need clearing out. Much appreciated the welcome items of bread, milk, biscuits, wine and flowers. Please inform the owners (Mr and Mrs Lister) before publishing our comments.

Kendal itself is well placed for the lakes and dales.. The cottage was difficult to find. Once parked at the suggested wall the directions should say continue on foot around the corner to the right and immediately left walk under a building to a car park then proceed to right far corner to lane. The cottage is third on left. The temperature in the shower was Luke warm - the only complaint.

We have just returned from wood cottage we are very disappointed. The cottage looks nice but a lot of things let it down the bathroom is full of mould and needs updating. The sofa if you could call it that is small old shabby and uncomfortable.we were told plenty of towels would be available but one bath towels and one hand towel each was not enough as we were there for a full week there is no washing machine so we could not wash them. The stairs are slippy that lead up to the main living area if you are bad on your feet/legs you will find it hard to get up and down them.On a positive note a welcome pack of bread butter milk wine and flowers were left which is a nice touch but we were let down by the things we have mentioned. We do not complain about the places we stay in but on paper this sounds ideal but just not for us . The cottage is situated on the edge of the main village which is ideal for shopping eating out and take aways hope this information is useful.

The cottage was lovely and there were flowers and wine from the owners waiting to greet us on our arrival, along with the essentials of bread and milk etc. There was plenty of information on what to do and where to go in the area available at the cottage and overall it was a very enjoyable holiday.

Well set out cottage - nice welcome package on arrival - flowers, wine, bread & biscuits. Bedroom very warm in June (summer duvet would be appreciated - bedroom downstairs - not a good ideal for windows to be open at night - due to the location of the cottage). Parking not off road as advertised - street parking was the only parking available. Bed comfortable - but due to size of bedroom unable to get out one side. Shower curtain mouldy, wet room compact but easy to use.

There were flowers, bread, milk, wine and all manner of goodies which got us over our arrival and allowed us to settle in in a leisurely fashion without dashing out for supplies.. The setting of the cottage was perfect, accessible to the town but hidden away. The area was good for walking and we did a lot of that!

I have already sent in a review for Wood Cottage 4 weeks after we returned. The only problem we had was my wife has difficulty with stairs. As there was no rail to hold on to this was quite difficult for her. I feel this should be mentioned in case visitors also have a problem with stairs. Other than that we enjoyed our stay.

The cottage was lovely, very welcoming and homely. The extras in the cottage were very much appreciated - butter, bread, milk, tea. Some sauces, spices and rice were also left in the cupboards from the previous tenants which was brilliant as it made it easier to cook meals without buying (and wasting) brand new items. The information on various local walks left in the cottage was also great - we had things to do every day and got to see lots of the beautiful Lake District scenery.

The scenery and the location of the cottage. It was easy to get out to the surrounding area but also possible to stay in Kendal when the weather was bad. The Abbot Hall art gallery was superb, as were the local restaurants and amenities. The people were very friendly and we had a great evening at a LeRoc venue dancing the night away!
