Lovely cottage very modern, great features ie docking station and hot tub, nice sized TV only problem we had was the WiFi wasn’t great to be able to watch Netflix but to be expected in a rural area.. Plenty of cutlery, loved the dishwasher as it was so easy to use whilst away, spacious rooms and plenty of towels. Would definitely comeback in the future.

The Internet access was not functional for the whole weekend.. We found that the oven did not heat properly (hotel reception informed on departure) The yard for the hot tub was very barren with poor lighting. Needed to leave bedroom light on with curtains open to get in and out of hot tub House itself was ok but showing signs of ageing Weather dreadful over the weekend so may not have seen it at its best

The relaxation and freedom was great and also had the choice of not cooking and eating at the castle..

Lovely place to stay if a bit expensive but ideal as originally booked due to mobility issues of one of the family and dog friendly which saved having to worry about boarding for them.. Unfortunately they cut the grass the day before the wedding which made keeping the house clean a bit of a problem with grass been carried in constantly although there was everything available for us to clean before we left.

The cottage was fantastic, really nicely presented in the grounds of a lovely castle.. We especially enjoyed the hot tub. We couldn't find the selection of books and dvds mentioned in the description though which was a slight shame.

There were several small niggles we had with this property, most of which we reported when giving back the keys; however, it is worth repeating these as I am extremely confident the owners were already aware of most of these issues prior to our arrival.. The hoover was broken (the handle came completely away from the main body of the hoover) which made it very difficult to use as you have to hold the main body of the hoover to manoeuvre it around. The toilet seat was very loose, the shower leaked terribly meaning we had to put towels down on the floor and put these out to dry each day. The freezer door in the fridge was broken so if you wanted to use the freezer section you had to lift it away and reattach it! The property had only enough towels for each person to shower/bathe so when we used the hot tub we then couldn't find a dry towel and vice versa and there is no facility within the property to dry these meaning we were having to hang them over the garden chairs and hope it didn't rain so they would dry. There are not enough cups and bowls, cutlery in the property (ie there were only 5 mugs, 1 of which was chipped) so we were either constantly washing them or having to put the dishwasher on more than once a day, half full, so we could have cups and spoons for tea making etc. All of these are small issues but this was an expensive property and our guests did comment on how these were disappointing issues considering the price. It is also worth mentioning that there are instructions in the property to say the hot tub would be maintained between 10am and 4pm each Thursday which we thought was odd as surely this could be done on changeover day. We therefore expected to be disturbed all day that day. We weren't but were distracted by the possibility someone would be turning up and unable to enjoy our last full day in the property. Finally the road at the front of the property is the access road for staff parking and deliveries and we had large vehicles speeding up and down it every day. This should definitely be included in the property information as anyone with a young child or dog would need to watch out for this.

This is the third time we have spent a holiday in this delightful cottage in a fabulous area, we found a little maintenance is needed on this visit but the staff up at the castle are aware and couldn't do enough to help and took details of problems, even had a personal visit from the housekeeper which was a lovely touch..

We stayed at this cottage over Easter with our daughter and 2 dogs.. The cottage was very clean, tidy and ready for our arrival. We had been left eggs, bread, tea & coffee plus washing up essentials and spare bin bags. All towels were provided along with bed linen and the heating was on! We checked in at the Castle Hotel reception and a member of staff called a few minutes later to show us around and also how to use the hot tub (which is a lovely added extra!). The location of the cottage was ideal as we were only 30 minutes drive from the Coast or 30 minutes from some wonderful walks in the Dales. Just 2 minutes drive up the road is a fantastic Ice Cream parlour where you can sit in for waffles, crepes, coffees etc or takeaway ice cream. We didn't eat in the hotel restaurant with having the dogs however the cottage was well equipped for us to make our own meals. If I only had one issue (which is just a point for people with dogs) is the back garden is all paved and my dogs won't 'go' on pavement so we had to use the back gate to a grass area away from the grounds. We kept them on a lead when doing this as people could walk past to their cars, but it didn't take anything away from the cottage, more of a pointer if you have fussy dogs! Also you don't get much passing traffic / people where the cottage is situated as I wondered this, you can just hear the cars on the gravel. I would definitely recommend this cottage and would love to return in the future.

The holiday cottage and location are spot on.. The only negative is the large garage behind the property that the hotel use as a store room for furniture etc that is no longer usable. This is also outside the garage at the back. Although you have a enclosed back yard with hot tub in you can't see it unless you wander around the back of the property. This was the only negative. The staff at castle hotel the grounds location and cottage were a dream. And i would definately visit again. I didn't find the large garage an issue located so close to cottage but the heaped furniture behind it I Did! Sorry

I stayed at Walworth Castle Cottage with three of my friends for a girly weekend away and we all loved it.. It was homely, tastefully decorated, private, clean, well equipped ... ticked every box for us. The hot tub was great and in a well covered private back garden. The grounds are beautiful and the staff lovely, they can’t do enough for you! We had Sunday Dinner at the Castle too and would definitely recommend. It was so nice that we would definitely return and we never go to the same place twice! Great cottage in an amazing location.

Just perfect, The cottage is lovely. We arrived, picked up the keys to the cottage from the main desk, and a pleasant young man then showed up around the cottage and explained how everything worked. There was even bread, milk and eggs left for us. The actual cottage was very clean, with everything that we needed. We have two large dogs, and the yard at the back was perfect for them to run around, as had very high fences. The grounds are beautiful. There were two small things (and they are small ! ) that we noticed; - the latch on the gate to the yard was not very secure. We did have some strong winds, and this blew the gate open. Luckily we noticed before the dogs escaped, so put the wheelie bin up against it. A bolt maybe better. - Another bin liner (told you they were small ! ) we only had one to last the week, so had to put rubbish into smaller bags and then a bin. And that's it ! Perfect little cottage, out of the way of people and other dogs. We did not venture over to the hotel for food etc, as you are not to leave dogs alone (understandable)

This lovely comfortable cottage is nicely decorated, and is furnished with co-ordinating fabrics of high quality. So there is a 'wow' factor when you walk in. The setting is beautiful and peaceful. The hotel staff, who hold the key and help with everything and anything, are so friendly and made us feel very welcome from start to finish. The Wi-Fi was a little hit and miss in the cottage but if you go over to the hotel, you can sit and relax in the foyer or outside and get great reception there. So that really wasn't a problem. The hot tub was fabulous! We spent a day at the Bird of Prey Centre (1 minute walk!) which we really enjoyed. Everyone there was very friendly, and there is a happy, family feeling to the place. The 'quiz' was fun and the bird displays are well worth seeing. We popped back to the cottage for lunch between them. We also made a bird feeder for our garden, which was so much fun and well worth it. We also had ice-cream at the near-by Archer's Parlour. The ice-cream is delicious and worth a visit. But, it is very child friendly so was very full and quite noisy when we went...this could be a good or bad thing depending how you feel. Just two things: (1)There are only enough dish washer tablets for a weekend. We don't have a dishwasher at home so didn't have any to take, and didn't want to go shopping, just for those, whilst on holiday. So had to hand wash from Monday onwards which was a shame. (2) It stated on the 'Sykes' website where we booked that there were a selection of books, games and DVD's, there were none. Overall though, lovely people, a lovely cottage and a lovely time.

Beautiful surroundings and excellent facilities. It was great to have the hotel next door for drinks/food if we wished but to have our own separate facilities too. The hot tub was the best we've been in, it really made the holiday special.

Walworth Castle Holiday Cottage was in an excellent position for us and our dog, as we spent the week exploring the surrounding areas. The cottage was not only wonderful, but was private in the rear yard with hot tub. A lovely walk around the castle and woods early in the morning was fabulous. I had my brothers with us for a couple of nights and this was magical family time.

I booked this place as a Christmas break for 4 nights and took a gamble as there was no reviews available and i was very pleased. It is very well decorated and all you need is supplied. Darlington is 10 mins drive for all bits and bobs. It is in the grounds of a Castle hotel with plenty of land for the dogs to walk. There was no heating on when we arrived and it was a bit temperamental but they sorted it after 20 mins. The hot tub is great. Very comfy and a bargain at the cost. I would highly recommend and we will be back.
