Great little cottage, comfortable and cosy. We had three adults + 1 dog and we were all very comfortable and had enough space to chill. Kitchen is equipped with everything you might need + microwave in utility room. The owner was very welcoming, he was very supportive of any needs during our stay. The hamlet of Penrose is small with no shops but is very quiet but friendly. 2 miles approx. from St Merryn which has a great pub and a very good Chinese takeaway. We used the cottage as a base to visit family but it would be perfect if you just wanted a quiet somewhere to chill out and relax. Would highly recommend.

We stayed at Uphill Cottage for the last week, and we had the most amazing week..The cottage is very cosy and quaint and a perfect size for my family of 5...The cottage is set in a lovely little hamlet of other cottages, very quiet , just how we wanted it, its in the perfect location to all the beaches on this coast line, which the children and our dog loved... Padstow is a 12 min drive away, which is totally worth visit. We felt at home the second we arrived, and Malcom was near by if we needed him ...If you are looking for a quiet quaint cottage close to all the beaches( our favourite Portcothan) ...I would highly recommend Uphill Cottage...We hope to return soon..

We had a wonderful week at Uphill Cottage, a delightful cottage in a very pretty little hamlet.. From the moment we arrived we felt at home, Malcolm popped across to greet us and make sure we had everything we needed, which we did. Penrose is so close to beautiful beaches and countryside and only a few minutes by car from Padstow. The cottage has a very safe little garden for a dog, our little dog enjoyed his week as much as his humans. We would recommend Uphill Cottage to anyone who needs to get away and chill out, but also only minutes away from decent pubs and restaurants. We would most definitely return.

Uphill cottage is in a pretty friendly village.. The cottage has a lovely conservory which was tranquil with views .and not having been well, this was a great place to relax ,watch the birds and the gentle movements of country village life. The cottage was equipped with everything needed, with lovely pictures and ornaments around making it very homely. All the furnishings were very comfortable,I slept so well due to such a comfy bed.The log burning fire was wonderful on our first nights whilst the weather was cooler. We had both extremes as the weather got to the 25s. How lucky were we. I cannot fault or could have wished for anything more from uphill. Malcolm our host was fantastic with a gift of wine and flowers to welcome us.He was extremely helpful without being intrusive . Beautiful beaches nearby , Padstow just a couple of miles away. The cottage was central to everywhere we wished to visit. I highly recommend Uphill cottage with its quirky homely feel. We hope to return soon, to make more lovely memories.

What a superb find.. .a holiday cottage that's characterful and quirky. We loved it! And dog friendly too...something that's high on our list of priorities. We recommend Uphill Cottage very highly indeed. Uphill Cottage is in such a wonderful location...so peaceful, friendly locals, excellent host, lovely beaches within a short drive. The cottage had such a welcoming appeal and was full of character. Really cosy with or without the log stove, but we did have a log fire each evening! We didn't want for anything. The area has a lot to offer too with the harbour at Padstow and its ferry to Rock. If you like a nice flat walk then the Camel Trail from Padstow to Wadebridge is for you Thank you to Malcolm our host. We know where to come when we next holiday on North Cornwall! love Jacqui, Steve and Magik the hound

An absolutely lovely cottage in a great location.. The cottage is well equipped and felt spacious for our family of 4. Penrose itself is a tranquil little village, and local beaches are only a 10 minute drive from Uphill cottage making it a great location for exploring the North coast. The owners are friendly and very helpful and provided us with a map to allow us to find walking routes in the area. We’d wholeheartedly recommend a stay at Uphill Cottage to others looking for a peaceful getaway.

Wonderful cottage, very friendly owners.. Cottage was exactly as described with regards to size, room layout, facilities etc., but was even nicer 'in the flesh'! Perfect location for beach and local shopping for supplies. All communication with Helpful Holidays was excellent.

What a lovely cottage, cannot praise this place enough. A totally home away from home. Seven beaches all within a short drive away. Nearest beach just five minutes away. Lots of mod cons in the cottage. The owners include some welcoming extras including a bottle of wine. Plenty of room for our dog. We have just booked too return next year.

We had a great time at Uphill Cottage. The cottage was quaint and cosy but full of mod cons to make our stay very comfortable. The owners were very friendly and helpful, suggesting various local places to visit, giving us a welcoming bottle of wine, fresh vegetables and milk on arrival. The cottage was practical for our dog and there was room in the sunroom and utility room to keep all the walking and dog stuff. The hamlet of Penrose was quiet and restful and located only five minutes drive from Porthcothan Beach which is a truly wonderful sight on a fine day, especially when the tide is out. There were lots of places to visit nearby, including Tintagel Castle, Bodmin and Wenn Steam Railway and Padstow. I highly recommend this cottage and the surrounding area.
