This really is a lovely cottage, like home from home - but nicer! Location is perfect & as others have said everything is here that you could possibly need. Comfy beds, warm fire & lovely views - sat in the lounge watching the snowfall & a variety of birds on the feeders. Would happily recommend this cottage & hope to stay again in the future.

The images of the cottage did not do it justice.. The owner Wayne was extremely helpful and had thought of everything. We wanted for nothing. The cottage was spotless, warm and wonderfully quiet. We had a fantastic short break.

My husband is 6'3 tall so when looking for cottages, although I like traditional places, I try to find ones with headroom so he can stand up straight.. From the pictures available it looked like the cottage had normal ceiling height, he could stand up straight but almost touched the downstairs ceilings but of course the doorframes were very low particularly the main bedroom which was a whole head height lower. I would be grateful if this information was available in the listing just so our time spent in a cottage is not constantly fraught with "watch your head" as it is easy to forget to duck!! The property was very comfortable and with a nice garden if you take a dog. We were provided with fuel for the log burner and the heating was lovely and warm so easily ideal in the winter. The cottage is well furnished with a range cooker and all equipment in the kitchen for meals in if you chose to cook. It is in a lovely area of the high peaks and we were blessed with a bright, sunny day to visit Quarrybank Mill, a National Trust site which was a short drive away. There are also plenty of walks nearby which was ideal. Please feel free to publish the second part of the feedback, the first part relates to Sykes listing.

We loved the wood burner - but never did get to fathom out the central heating controls! The cottage was very comfortably furnished and well equipped - 8 gas hobs and multiple ovens !

The cottage was home from home ! The facilities were excellent and we could not believe all the extras that were there for us to use. Even fire lighters, kindling and logs for the log burner in the lounge. Great value for money' Thank you for a lovely holiday break.

We spent an amazing week at the cottage over new year. It's in a quiet location and was a perfect base for taking advantage of the great walking in the area. The cottage was immaculately clean and well equipped with everything you could need- they had even left us milk in the fridge and a welcome cake! ( The owners were very friendly and accommodating) The doggies really enjoyed playing in the lovely big garden and the log fire was perfect for snuggling up in front of. We'll definitely be visiting again.

An absolutely perfect cottage.. There is not a negative thing that I can say about this cottage, in fact would go so far to say the best and most well equipped accommodation that we have ever stayed in!! The kitchen was fantastically well stocked with all the utensils and odds and ends that you could want for. The living room has both a DVD player and chromecast (as well as DVDs and boardgames). The rooms were all very clean and was a great home from home. Also loads of tourist leaflets in the property as well as walking trail routes/maps. The location of the cottage is perfect too (the view from the garden is awesome), Glossop and all its shops are only 5 mins away, and to get on the peaks for walking will take you about 3 minutes. The cottage is also only 5 minutes away from the Trans Penine Trail and a short drive from the Longdendale Trail. The cottage is in a cluster of 3 other properties, no problems with parking and the neighbours that we met were very friendly. The back garden is dog escape proof, but our pooch did find a way out the front one - not a problem though as only used the back :) Worth saying that the wifi was actually very good, sometimes with 4 of us on at once, no slowness seen. The overall location is great too in relation to places like Chatsworth, Lyme Park, Buxton, Matlock etc etc Can not recommend this cottage enough...we will certainly come here again :)

Lovely cottage in a great location, a large enclosed garden which the dog loved. 5 Minutes away from Glossop providing everything you need. Kitchen fully stocked with all the basics you may need, milk and a cake on arrival was very thoughtful. Wifi is very useful but quite slow, probably due to the rural location. House was nice and warm, but still cool enough in the living room. Chromecast connected to the tv so you can stream YouTube, Netflix etc is a nice touch. The bed is comfy in my opinion but rather soft, so may not be comfy to others! The bathroom is nice and tidy, the only downside was the shower temperature fluctuating a lot, this seems to be due to having a power shower on a combi boiler which is not recommended, however it has plenty of power. Parking space for 1 car, possibly 2 down the side of the house. Neighbours can make it tricky to reverse in or out due to having many cars but were happy to move when asked. House is lovely and quirky with exposed beams, floors are quite uneven though and stairs very steep and narrow. So consider this is elderly or not so great on your feet! All in all a great cottage with a great owner would definitely stay there again.

April 2018
I booked this cottage because it was dog friendly with an enclosed garden.. But we had to keep our dog indoors as the garden had numerous places where he could get out. There was only enough parking space for 1 car . The cottage was comfortable with 2 good sized bedrooms comfortable sitting room and well equipt kitchen.

An immaculate cottage with all that we needed for an excellent holiday.. Really clean, warm and very comfortable. The log burner was a lovely welcome after a wet and windy day of walking.

March 2018
Cottage is great, very comfortable and my son loved the garden.. The cottage is not as isolated as I had hoped I was under the impression it was on its own but there are about 4 neighbours all fairly close just not attached. The view out the back door is fab but the front is the neighbours houses.

We stayed here for New Years and had the best time. The cottage was absolutely lovely, and had everything you needed and more. The owners were very thoughtful with all of the things available (books, games, DVDs) there was also milk in the fridge and a tin of biscuits on our arrival. The cottage is in a lovely setting and everything about it made our stay amazing. We would definitely go back

The Cottage was really cosy, with tons of hot water, warmth and comfy beds, just what you want after a November day's walking.. Great location for Peaks walks. There aren't any good pubs in walking distance, but plenty of good places to eat in Glossop or Stockport. Wet day? Recommend Bramall Hall in Stockport, open all year.

November 2017
Excellent cottage - great location for exploring the Peak District and the surrounding area.. The owner was very helpful and supplied plenty of local information prior to our arrival. The nearby George & Dragon pub was extremely accommodating for food with excellent bar staff. Our only regret was being unable to stay longer this time.

A well equipped cottage in an ideal location for exploring the High Peaks

February 2017
The Cottage is a very cosy place to stay in grim weather - a nice woodfire in the sitting room, powerful central heating, lovely new bathroom, comfy beds, well equipped kitchen.. Outside stunning scenery literally on the doorstep, but still only a few minutes drive away from the next town and shops. The only downside: the second bedroom is very small and would probably not be ideal for fighting teenagers, but if your kids are cool, it's fine. :-)

This is our second visit to The Cottage Glossop and we continue to find the cottage and location perfect for us and our border collie Sparky. The bed is large and comfortable with a skylight above so you can lie in bed and watch the stars and the odd low plane flying into Manchester. There is constant hot water and heating if required. As soon as we pull up outside we start to relax. There is no road noise, a fantastic view from the patio doors over the large secure garden to the woodhead pass in the distance which in September is covered in purple heather. There is a well stocked Co-Op nearby. It's perfect for walkers with all the home comforts. Well recommended with a great view from the door through the lovely Equine Centre

January 2016
Everything that we needed was there already at The Cottage, we didn't need to use any of the essentials we brought with us. The beds were comfortable and the bedding looked as if it was new. Lovely big bath and powerful shower. The heating could be adjusted easily and the house warmed up quickly. The television had good reception. The WIFI worked well too. The key safe was a good idea; it saves the worry of being locked out. The garden and view were lovely and would be wonderful to use in good weather.

November 2014
Great attention to detail in the presentation of The Cottage, every necessary item was thoughtfully provided in the kitchen, for example. The Cottage is attractive and cheering, even in winter. Its location makes it ideal for touring the northern Peak District and it has handy access to the Manchester area if required. The owner was very helpful when contacted prior to the visit and provided useful information by email. The Cottage is dog-friendly - which was a must for us. Pleasant neighbours. Overall, highly recommended we would certainly like to return one day.

November 2014
This cottage was warm and cosy with lovely neighbours. It was out in the country but only a short distance from amenities. The log fire was a great addition although we were lucky enough to have a mild October week. The cottage is ideally placed for numerous visits locally and beyond and you could get the train into Manchester if you wished. All in all a home from home.

November 2014
This cottage is great, clean, comfortable and warm with log fire. Large rooms and garden great for the dog. 5 mins drive from glossop with lots of shops including tesco. Has wifi which was great , took my tablet and found places to visit. Close to some cottages but still private. There is a walk from the door which takes you onto the pennine way. Turn left at end of drive go down lane past some cottages turn right at the end go through equestrian centre towards the cafe turn right past the small animal farm then follow it down. We was told by a neighbour else we've wouldn't have known it was there. We will definitely be back again in the future xx

The Cottage was the perfect little getaway. The garden was perfect for the dog and again is a brilliant place for walking with a dog. The cottage was clean and welcoming and had everything we needed for our stay. We couldn't of really asked for anything else it was just perfect. We will be returning as soon as we can.

We liked the tranquillity of the location but ease of access of all the places we wanted to visit. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment. We would definitely stay here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this holiday let to our friends.

July 2014
The Cottage is detached and set in a wonderful rural location. Tranquil and picturesque. I am a light sleeper and you can hear the planes occasionally at night flying in to Manchester Airport but I really didn't find it an issue and would definitely stay here again. The bed is very comfortable and the kitchen well stocked. We have a small dog who could get through the gate, so we bought some netting and fenced it off a bit more. The are lots of local shops but we tended to use the coop at Simmondley. The local pub Hare and Hounds serves good food but isn't Dog Friendly, but if it is sunny they have a nice decked area to eat on. Hope to come back again.

February 2014
The cottage was beautifully tucked away, but not so far from shops to make it difficult to get supplies. The views from the cottage were brilliant. The sky lights were cool and being there in February it was great to have central heating that kept rooms nice and warm.

February 2014
We wondered if January week at the top of the Peak District was a bit of a risk, but the weather stayed fine for us and everyday was topped off by returning to this beautiful cottage. The village of Charlesworth is quaint and full of interesting buildings made from the traditional stone and perfectly equipped with two pubs, a beautiful greengrocers with a fish counter and a convenience store which conveniently seems to stock everything you could want, they even make sandwiches to order! When we arrived at the cottage on the first day, the heating was on, the fire was laid and everything was spotlessly clean, the garden is huge with plenty of room for an energetic boxer dog to run around, although after each days walk she was fit for nothing more than collapsing in front of the log burner. The kitchen was well stocked and the gas powered range was a joy to cook with. Upstairs the bedrooms were great, topped off by the skylight above the master bed, and the p-shaped bath was the perfect way to end each day. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable stay in a cottage we can't recommend highly enough.
Miss Chavda
January 2014
The cottage was in a lovely, scenic location. Very homely feel to it and very well equipped. There has been a lot of thought gone into making the cottage a relaxing place to have a break. The owner was helpful and prompt in getting back with a solution when we got locked out. We will definitely be happy to recommend the cottage and can't fault it in anyway. Thank you!
Mrs Simmons

October 2013
A very tastefully renovated cottage in excellent state of repair. The setting was perfect for a quiet break while not being too far from places of interest. Very comfortable cottage which made for a perfect base for the four adults in our party. Most of the fixtures and fittings seemed to be in as new condition, hence we had no issues with cleanliness etc.

October 2013
We stayed for a week in august this year and took our dog with us. The cottage was beautiful and had a huge garden overlooking an equine centre. Surrounded by stunning views and plenty of lovely walks, The main bedroom had a velux window which was lovely for laying in bed looking at the stars too. A well equipped, comfortable cottage that I would not hesitate to recommend. Our only suggestion would be to have a side gate erected to make the garden safe and enclosed for dogs.
