Lovely little cottage for two in beautiful countryside..

August 2020
A lovely view to be had from the property, which is in a quiet village.. The neighbours were very friendly. The opportunity to rent The Studio, as well as Sunny Bank, provided a great solution for two households to meet up for a family holiday. The garden was very useful for evening meals. This is a suitable property, as advertised for two people.

This is a lovely cottage in a quaint quiet village with a convenient coop and a convenient pub the shoulder of mutton which sold lovely meals if you don’t want to cook.. In a great location close to all the best attractions in the area ( Mam Tor, Tissington bike trail, Mondale trail, curbar, stanage edge.Cottage was very private with a lovely little garden and private parking space .Even the neighbours bk and front of the cottage are very friendly and welcoming. The busier tourist resort of Castleton is a ten min drive away . we had a great stay .

This is a delightful place to stay, cosy and peaceful, easy to find and access and it felt like the owners had thought of everything..

The cottage was exceedingly well equipped, the description didn't do justice to the kitchen and what was provided.. It was a lovely place to spend a few days.

Excellent. Great location.. What more can we say, only that we will be coming again Arthur and Norma

Shortage of cutlery (1 teaspoon between 2 persons? ) Shortage of storage space (1 small wardrobe, two drawers) I'm pleased we were only staying a few days! BTW our premature departure had nothing to do with the shortcomings of the property but rather a mechanical problem with the car. Never met the owners/keepers. One would have thought they could have dropped in to extend a welcome, show people around etc. Very little moving space. We are thankfully people of average size. This is definitely not a property for people of large stature or with limited mobility. I found the easiest and safest way to descend the stairs was on my bum.

The cottage was very small but we new that when we booked it .... The cottage was very small but we new that when we booked it I do think there should be a small table/ mirror in the bedroom as us ladies like to do our hair and makeup Also a shelf beside the bed apart from that all was well Nice pub very close to the cottage and supermarket, lovely ice cream parlour also

A very convenient base to visit Bakewell, cycle the Monsal Trail, go to Castleton and climb Mam Tôr, walk at Stanage Edge, visit Chatsworth House.. There are so many places to eat-- our favourites were: the Curry Cabin in Hope, The Bull Inn in Castleton, The Castle Hotel- Castleton, The Shoulder of Mutton in Bradwell, the Samuel Fox restaurant and the local fish and chip shop in Bradwell offers a huge size crispy cod.

The cottage was absolutely wonderful.. So peaceful. The kitchen is adequate enough to cook and there is a table or trays for sitting on the sofa to eat. The log burner is a fantastic feature and easy to use. We also used the garden to have breakfast and drink coffee. Bradwell is a great spot for days out and a great base for walking, running or cycling. The cottage is the perfect size for two for a week and we miss it already! Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely brilliant, lovely quaint cosy cottage in a friendly village.. Shoulder of Mutton less than a minute away with great cheap food. Everything in the cottage from washing up liquid to tin foil, oil etc...I mention this because stayed in cottages before and had to go out and buy everything. Fantastic views, it snowed while we were there making it even better...we loved it....fantastic :) would recommend and defo go back again :)

Cottage was wonderful.. Small, yes, but that's exactly what we were looking for. An old building with beams. Tick. Romantic feel. Tick. Top notch central heating. Tick. Ideal location to venture out to neighbouring villages. Would happily go back

A most beautiful cottage and we had everything we needed to make it a perfect weekend

We loved this little cottage so much we didn't want to leave.. It is very small - one up, one down - but this is why we loved it so much. Comfortable cosy bed and great pressure in the shower. Plenty of towels and blankets provided which is always a bonus. Enough storage space for a week or weekend getaway. Downstairs is super cosy too with a little sofa and fold away table. The wood burner was a great feature and we had lots of cosy nights in snuggling beside it. The kitchen was very well equipped and I didn't find anything I needed that wasn't there - even a cafetiere, bonus points! The owners have obviously been very thoughtful with the little touches to make the house easy to stay in. Do be careful of your head on the stairs if you are tall though! Great communication from Sykes - I booked the night before (Sunday at about 7.30pm) and I got a call back immediately to confirm and take payment. What fantastic service. Also great communication from the owner in regards to getting into the property and also communication midweek to check up on an internet issue that had been ongoing the week before. Loved it loved it loved it.

This property was slightly more bijou than expected and you need to be careful not to bang your head going upstairs- we did it at leat twice.. Otherwise good location and enjoyed a great Christmas break.

August 2018
The cottage is quaint and the area is very quiet and lovely.. The cottage is basic and slightly uncomfortable with a small settee and difficult to use kitchen. The bathroom was not ideal as is was noisy and disturbing for the sleeping partner who would then wake up. The local shops, pubs and other amenities were great and the locals very friendly. We had a good base to do some fabulous walks. We enjoyed our stay as we were able to venture out every day to explore.

A delightful cottage a beauful garden and amazing view.. The village was a pleasant and a welcoming place very relaxing and was easy to commute by car.
Mrs Payne
July 2018
The cottage was absolutely beautiful, just as the description.. The directions to the cottage were spot on, and we were in and settled very quickly. The cottage is very compact, but had everything we needed for a long weekend. The garden was perfect, and the table and chairs ideal to eat breakfast outside in the beautiful weather. There is little shade, an umbrella would have been nice, for a little protection in the hot afternoon sun. We took our garden chairs with us, so had something a little more relaxing to use. We took the liberty of moving the position of the sofa so that we could enjoy a little more space in the lounge and to also enjoy the view of the hills! Lots of really useful information in the guide provided, and around the house. The shower dripped as previously mentioned, but we just laid the shower head on the tray, no problem at all then. Bradwell is very pretty and we enjoyed a delicious dinner at Ye Old Bowling Inn, all within easy walking distance. A perfect weekend, and we would not hesitate to come back and have recommended it to many friends!

The cottage was generally too small for us although quaint and well situated for the activities we had planned for the week.. Although generally clean there was many cobwebs. The kettle and toasted were well used and worn, the toaster was full of crumbs it blew the trip switch on the first morning, we had to clean the toaster and reset the trip, no further problems with the toaster. The shower head continuously dripped which became annoying over the week. The extractor fan in the bathroom didn’t work, I rang Mrs Northcott who said she knew it was not working as it had fused when the roof leaked. Mrs Northcott had rang me prior to the holiday to ask permission for the builder to call in on the 29.6.18, this would have been an opportunity for Mrs Northcott to discuss the extractor fan which would have saved me a phone call and the stress to trying to get a signal. Mrs Northcott did say nobody really used the fan and said ‘just open the windows’ I did feel this was unsatisfactory as we would have preferred to have a fan especially as it was an ensuite. The garden furniture could do with updating there was no sunshade and the wooden furniture was extremely rickety.

Ideal location for us and good to have WiFi and a parking space.. We did purchase a few items like a Pyrex bowl for making porridge in the microwave and a washing up brush to suit our preferences but otherwise it was furnished with all we needed

May 2018
The notes and information left by the owners was particularly useful and informative.. The cottage is in a cluster of cottages, some owner occupied, neighbours were very friendly. Less than 5 min walk to nearest bus stop, can recommend trip to Bakewell from Castleton. We tended not to use our car, the buses were reliable and you can see so much more. A week of sun walking around Castleton and Hathersage, can recommend it.

Had a wonderful stay at Sunny Bank View! The cottage felt cosy and welcoming. There was plenty of room for a solo traveller. Kitchen had everything I needed and I enjoyed the opportunity to have dinner outside at the patio at the evenings. Broadband speed had just increased and I had no troubles getting signal during my stay. Location of the cottage was also very convenient, I used the local bus services to get around and the nearest bus stop was just a couple of minutes walk away. The shops and pubs were situated only short walking distance away too. The setting of the cottage was beautiful, especially at the spring time. All in all, I found Bradwell a great holiday base when exploring Peak District and would love to book this cottage again some day!

April 2017
This is one of the cosiest places I have ever had the pleasure to stay in. It was perfect for my partner and I, and being situated in the lovely village of Bradwell was an added bonus. The owners had literally thought of everything to make our stay perfect, there is a handy folder with all the information you could possibly wish for on the surrounding area as well as facilities within the village. There were also handy laminated notes dotted around advising on specific things within the cottage. We had a fantastic week exploring the area and it was a pleasure to return "home" at the end of each day. We didn't really want to leave this quaint little place and will definitely be booking again when we return to the area. Many Thanks!!

A delightful, well appointed little cottage situated on the edge of the village but with shops and pubs within easy walking distance.. Good walking available from the doorstep with many more good walks just a short drive away.

November 2016
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sunny Bank View.. The cottage was in a lovely quiet village which had a number of shops and pubs in walking distance. The cottage itself was very clean and tidy on arrival and was beautifully cosy, especially compared to the near-Arctic weather outside! Being able to put a fire on topped everything off. I would love to stay in the cottage during the summer months to be able to use the garden and I am sure the cottage's setting would look even more beautiful. I cannot recommend this cottage enough as we had the perfect weekend there.

Lovely cottage in a lovely location.. It is small, (we soon learned how to make best use of the very limited space in the well equipped kitchen), but makes a cosy retreat for two. Would definitely consider booking this cottage in the future.

A clever conversion of what I imagine was once a small farm building.Perfect for 1 person but rather awkward at times for 2 especially in the kitchen if one of you is washing and the other drying! I would suggest eating out as much as possible. It's lovely having the outside space but it isn't very private.
Mrs Britcliffe, September 2016

A nice cottage in a lovely location, only one small problem, the television signal disappeared every time it rained! Not a huge issue but given the climate it was a bit annoying.

We loved our stay at Sunny Bank View. It was tiny, but perfect for two. Everything was very clean - it passed my very picky bathroom standards! Had lovely clean sheets and towels, too. It had not been over modernised, the furniture blended with the period of the house which was nice to see. A good area for walking or accessing local attractions.

This booking was for a little romantic get away. Our requirements were for a character property in a beautiful area with an open fire. This little cottage delivered on all of those. The owners left extensive instructions on how everything works and the instructions on how to find the cottage in the warren of little building and streets was invaluable. There were even basic tea and coffee supplies. The sheets were as crisp and clean as the sheets you find in big name chain hotels and the towels were thick and good quality. There is nothing huge about this little jewel of a cottage, it tiny and quaint and petite, the ceilings are low and the stairs require you to duck to get to the second floor but thats because its a really old cottage full charm. The owners had thought of almost everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
