The cottage is in a very good location.. It's on its own which gives seclusion but it's still close to the A1 and local pub and garage/shop. Easy to find and super for visiting Lindisfarne and Berwick. Well appointed with everything you need for your holiday.

Couldn’t fault this cottage, even the trains didn’t bother us; the view was outstanding; facilities - everything we needed and more; warm and cosy; easy access; and first class for sightseeing - many thanks to the owner..

A lovely comfortable cottage with added bonus of a summerhouse for windy, chilly days.. Just one drawback, the loo and shower/bath was downstairs.

The cottage was lovely and had everything we needed.. The owner Majorie had given us lots of reassurance about Covid and their cleaning policy. She had provided hand santiser and wipes for us to use whilst there during this uncertain time. The cottage is in a great location and is only a short drive down the road to Holy Island Lindisfarne. It is located close to Berwick-Upon-Tweed, along with Bmburgh, Alnwick, Morpeth and the surrounding areas including over the border to Scotland. We have stayed at the cottage previously and hope to return again in the future.

This cottage exceeded all of our expectations, it was immaculate, beautiful and well presented.. So you have patio seating with panoramic views of the Northumberland countryside, you have decking and then the summer house, I mean wow just wow sitting snuggled up in this tastefully decorated and richly furnished room each evening watching the stars relaxing with a glass of wine after days spent walking on holy island (which is literally five minutes away)..Kitchen was smashing with dishwasher and super quiet washing machine. Everything you needed from sugar to bin liners. Dining room excellent living room immaculate lots of very comfortable seating, cushions and throws, even more garden area to the front of the cottage .Bedrooms all spacious rooms plenty of storages, good quality immaculate bedding .there are three bedrooms the smallest we used as a dressing room but would be great as nursery. Bathroom was marvelous with large bath and the shower was excellent. The owner invited me to look at the cottage next door which has just been refurbished it is amazing, the owner is more than helpful and approachable and lives locally so is there for you should there be any issues. This cottage and the 2 bedroom cottage next door is an excellent base for any family or couple .Yes there is a level crossing yards away but you don't notice the trains after a short while. We loved it and would go back today, we were so sad to leave and will return asap. I cannot recommend this (these cottages) highly enough.

Fabulous Cottage in an great location just off the A1 5 minute drive from Holy Island 2 minute walk to nearest Cafe.. The Cottage itself had Stunning View over the hills from a well stocked garden with a decking area and an added bonus of a beautiful summerhouse. Inside the cottage it was instantly felt welcoming .large fully fitted kitchen ..dining area ..handy Cloakroom and luxury Bathroom with bath and separate shower. A large cosy living room with excellent TV and WiFi signal. Always had lots of hot water, heating if needed, loads of Towels and well stocked with kitchen items. Upstairs two lovely big bedrooms and a third smaller one, all with good quality mattress and bedding. The whole cottage is nicely furnished with every detail thought of to make your stay A happy one and ours was, after a day sightseeing all the local area has to offer it was lovely to come back to this charming cottage and feel at home. We would recommend to anyone a stay here and with the current Covid situation we felt Very Safe as it is Spotlessly clean And Santizier is left for you to use It's simply a Gem .. 5 Star Rating from us

Had a very pleasant stay in this little cottage by the level crossing on the Lindisfarne road; we enjoyed the trains rumbling by on their way to and from the north!

Super quiet setting in spite of the nearby railway.. Lovely to watch the trains thunder by. Very homely place. Well appointed and we had some nice touches left for us as it was Christmas. Very handy for Lindisfarne too.

Just that we had a wonderful time in an area we didn't know.. Our cottage was wonderful. Mr and Mrs Bell were wonderful hosts. Although situated next to the railway line it didn't bother us. It didn't operate at the weekend or through the night and we were out most of the day so it wasn't a problem.

A lovely, well furnished cottage.. Lots of home comforts made for a stress free stay. Lovely garden that was a sun trap even in the middle of October. Great location for tourist attractions. Nice walk down to the causeway for Holy Island which we did a couple of times in the evening to mitigate the effects of cake and chips! Trains past the level crossing are very regular but would say they’re a novelty rather than a nuisance.Would stay again.

The cottage was lovely and quaint with a sunny terrace and sun room.. My children loved the proximity of the trains and would rush out to watch them speed past. It has a very rural outlook and watching the farmers work the fields was brilliant. The cottage has everything you could need and is really spacious. We found the stairs a bit tricky getting our suitcases up them because there are two turns on the steps. Also an upstairs toilet would have been great especially through the night with children. We didn’t think there was a freezer but we found one outside in the shed so warm G&T’s were averted. A lovely place to stay and highly recommend out of lots of places we have stayed at in Northumberland.

WE thought that the should be a wc upstairsn as the bathroom is on the lower floor.. This point that the bathroom is n the lower floor needs to be listed. home was lovely

What a lovely and well kept cottage in a fantastic location for exploring Northumberland.. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay and the views from the decking across open fields were awesome. We even saw deer in the field! Mrs Bell was very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend St Cuthbert's Cottage. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

Every part of our holiday was amazing.. This was mainly because of the excellent cottage. Everything we needed was there plus extras too. The standard in all areas could not be faulted! We must also commend our landlords who were friendly and very helpful Thank you Marjie and Phil. Hope we can come again sometime!

St Cuthbert’s Cottage was exceptionally clean and very cosy.. The hosts (Mr and Mrs Bell) were warm and welcoming. We loved the Summerhouse, it was the perfect spot to sit and relax after a days walking and sightseeing. The cottage is ideally located for easy access to the Northumberland coast, countryside and the surrounding towns. The trains run past frequently but caused no disturbance at all. Would highly recommend St Cuthbert’s Cottage.

A very beautiful, comfortable, spacious and clean holiday cottage with high cellings, magnificent views all around it and lots of garden space and flowers to walk around and enjoy.. Beautifully furnished outside building/Summer House for a quiet time. Very close to Holy Island and many other ammenities to visit and enjoy such as Restaurants (The Barn and many others) and pubs for eating and a quick refreshment. Very interesting and historical buildings to visit such as Bamburgh Castle and many other important Castles not too far away. Close to the seaside with easy access by road to fantastic beaches and coastal villages and towns. A very friendly and helpful owner eager to offer information on interesting places and beauty spots near the area. Ample parking outside the garden area. You almost get a feeling that there are no other houses or buildings for miles. All in all, a wonderful and most deserved break for anyone who cares to visit this fantastic and beautiful area of the country. Highly recommended to anyone who is prepared to travel towards the northeast as a most welcome break on the way.

Set out in lovely rural area not to far from the Holy islands or a drive to the super markets.. A beautiful drive around the coastline. Lots of walking places. A fantastic pub at the top of the road in walking distance is Lindisfarne Inn, a little bit pricey but well worth the large portion size. We love spending our holidays around this area. People are so friendly.

September 2018
This is definitely the closest accommodation to Holy Island you can have, unless you want to camp.. The road to the Holy Island Causeway runs past the front gate and it is about two miles distant. The cottage is right next to a level crossing on the mainline and trains are frequent but they are not intrusive and did not impinge on our enjoyment at all. The cottage is clean and comfortable and has three bedrooms, although it only says two on the listing - there is a double, twin and single. Food at the Barn at Beal is nice but they do not do evening meals except at the weekend. Would certainly return if we wanted to go to Holy Island again. Very pleasant and helpful owners.

Lovely clean cottage, very welcoming and a great location holy island and lots of other site seeing.. The only downside is the railroad that runs right next to the house. If you dont mind this and you're a heavy sleeper then you'll be fine. Other then that take some ear plugs as these rin right up till at least 12 midnight. Then theres there railroad workers. Every night whilst we where there working banging talking loud and beebing the car horns. Oh and the house shakes when a speeding train goes past. Other then that we enjoyed it.

We have been to this cottage before.. It was everything and more than expected from a holiday cottage. I cannot fault anything about it.

August 2018
We had not expected so many domestic items to be present in a holiday rental, i.. E. washing powder and liquid, tea towels, tea bags, coffee etc. and good bath towels. Just the basics but I had packed them automatically in view of previous experience. Delightful outside space and lovely summerhouse from which to appreciate the sunsets - which are pretty special. I think the cupboards were fitted by someone with much longer arms and legs than I can boast! Bit of a struggle for a shorty like me but we managed. I would suggest the provision of an oven-glove for obvious reasons. There were four of us, ranging from very elderly to only seven years old, and we all had a lovely week and would certainly go again. Northumberland is a beautiful county.

The cottage is right next to main line rail line and very busy- trains passing very often .. They seem to stop running during the night but start really early so if you are a light sleeper you get a rude awaken. But cottage well placed to explore castles and coast.

We found the cottage to be comfortable with everything we needed.. We especially enjoyed the outdoor room and the lovely views. Be aware that this railway crossing is on the mainline and first train of the day is soon after 4am - didn’t bother us but if you’re a light sleeper you might need ear plugs! Would definitely recommend and ideally situated for all local attractions, walking & cycling.

June 2018
We had a lovely stay in St Cuthbert's Cottage in early June.. The cottage was comfortable and well equipped. The summer house was a big plus on pleasant evenings we enjoyed. It was our first visit to this area and hopefully it won't be the last. Apart from the usual visits (Bamburgh, Berwick etc.,) Cragside is not to be missed and the Hatherslaw Mill area is lovely.

Difficult to exceed expectations as I expected the whole process to be simple and straightforward - it was just that so it met, rather than exceeded expectations.. I don't actually know how you could "exceed"

It was ideal for us loving Holy Island as we do, very central for getting about the area..

December 2016
Very cosey and warm.. Despite being near the railway, there was very little noise from the level crossing and the trains, and we weren't disturbed at all. Very convenient for access to Holy Island, and are looking forward to coming back.

St Cuthbert's Cottage is a wonderful place to stay.. Very close to the Nortumbrian Coastal Path and for visiting Holy Island. My sisters and I enjoyed some stunning walks from the cottage and had a fantastic week. The cottage is only a few metres away from the main East Coast railway line, but that was not a problem and we soon got used to them slipping by. The cottage actually has 3 bedrooms, a single, a double and a twin, so the advertising needs adjusting on the website. Also, what looks like an extra sitting space is shown on the site (chairs with the turquoise throws). This is actually a separate small building in the garden, which faces West, so you can sit and watch the sun go down. It's a very special space, a sanctuary even and could be advertised as such.
Ms Fox, October 2016

We loved the homely feel, the summer house, the view over fields and the railway..
Mrs Baxter, August 2016
August 2016
We loved the cottage but it took us a while to get used to the downstairs bathroom! The trains didn't bother us at all - just to point out that they don't run all night. The double glazing really muffles the noise which might encourage 'non- train people' to book the cottage!!

this cottage was very nice it was very clean and comfortable was well equipped with everything we needed it was close to were we wanted to be as advertised . It is however very close to train lines which didnt bother us in the slightest but may bother others ideal if your an enthusiast though.I would certainly book this cottage again the owners were very friendly and helpful but not intrusive just left us to it we had a lovely time looking forward to going back soon also being allergic to animal fur this cottage was ideal for me as pets were not allowed.
