Description of kitchen facilities did not specify that instead of a conventional fridge there was only a larder type, so nowhere to store frozen food, freeze ice packs for cookbook, or make ice cubes for a drink.. Apart from this facilities were very good.

The location was the house was so close to the beach and local amenities, the co-op was less than 5mins walk round the corner.. And plenty of pubs within a short walk too. Having never stayed in Newbiggin before, we found the people friendly and very accommodating. A couple of places to go if you stay there, or visit... Melanies Tea Room was fantastic, The Ink Spot micropub is a little gem, generally a Lovely place to stay. I couldn't recommend Sykes cottages highly enough. We have stayed in their cottages a few times now, never disappointed.

First class accommodation, spotlessly clean, very comfortable.. A small freezer unit would be handy, and a teapot ! as us yorkshire folk like to brew their tea in a teapot. Very enjoyable.

The directions could do with tweaking a bit as it it took us over half an hour to find it.. Suggest on the directions it is made clear that after the left turn by the Victoria pub the next right is an alleyway then at the top of that the left turn is over some ramped kerbs and New Queen street and Queen Street are the same place just different sides of the street. otherwise the directions were fine.

Never having had a "cottage holiday" we were a bit wary about what to expect at Salee Cottage.. Wow!! what a place --a home from home. Everything we wanted was there. One could spend a week there without going out, there was TV (freesat), a DVD player with about 200 DVDs, two shelves of books to read, a radio/CD player and plenty of games. The cottage is a terraced house with very friendly neighbours. Comfortable beds with linen provided and a well fitted out bathroom, towels provided, together with an exceptionally furnished lounge made the holiday a welcome break from the tedium of daily life.

We were the first occupants of a recently refurbished house.. Teething problems with a blocked shower drain!! Quickly resolved by maintenance company. The house is tastefully decorated and furnished. Enjoyed our stay.
