Wonderful house, beautiful views, kind and very attentive host and all you need for a perfect break. We are a family party of 13, aged 1 to 60, and had a great stay, absolutely nothing to complain about. It’s not easy to find suitable accommodation to meet the needs of us all but this house ticks all the boxes. Caroline couldn’t be more helpful. Thank you. Don’t hesitate to go if you get the chance

Booked Pengwern cottage in September to celebrate my mum's 60th birthday. We all had a fantastic time and absolutely loved the cottage and it's beautiful scenery. The amazing surroundings gave us plenty of scope for lovely walks in the daytime and the two games rooms provided us ample entertainment in the evenings. The owner Caroline lives in the neighbouring cottage and was always on hand to assist if we needed anything. Would highly recommend staying at Pengwern and look forward to returning in the future.

Just returned as a group after spending a winter break in the Berwyn Mountains.
Pengwern was brilliant- spacious and comfortable with plenty to entertain the whole gang from 60 weeks to 70 years of age.
Play room was extensively used by the kids leaving the adults to relax in the cosy lounge with a log fire or play snooker and indulge in the bar area.
Location is ideal for the whole Berwyn mountain range with walking to and from the door.
Will return for more.

We arrived as a group of 3 families (14 of us) late Friday afternoon to be greeted by Caroline! An amazing host and nothing was too much trouble, we had a tour of the house were we were shown how everything worked, as well as Caroline informing us that they were expecting a little snow, so be prepared in the morning.
The house it’s self is absolutely gorgeous, well maintained, immaculately clean and a home away from home. It catered to all of our needs. As for the views we were speechless, especially waking up on the Saturday morning to snow covered hills! It felt like a scene out of a movie. Even with the cold weather, we took a stroll into the nearby village and of an evening we relaxed in the fantastic communal area (the hub of the house) were we were entertained for hours in the bar, snooker and darts room, as well as the upstairs games room. Amazing for all ages!
All in all this house is perfect!
100% would recommend this if you are wanting a cosy, rustic, country break away.
Thanks again Caroline, we will be booking again soon.

Our family treat ourselves to a yearly UK break and this time we decided to visit wales to climb mount snowdon.
We were very lucky to find this property as it was a pretty last minute find. The host Caroline was amazing, she welcomed us into her home.
Each room has been beautifully decorated and it feels like you’re at home from the moment you step inside.
There are lots of rooms which worked really well for us - you can find a room to unwind and read or if you’re feeling a bit more lively to have a drink and play snooker.
The setting is stunning, the house sits within a valley, I’d definitely recommend staying here and would definitely return if we were to visit again.

We had a great two night stay in Pengwern over the May bank holiday weekend. The house grounds are very spacious and surrounded by beautifully scenic views. The landlady, Caroline, is incredibly helpful and friendly - she greeted us on arrival and continued to be of help throughout our stay.
All of the rooms are well-equipped, warm and clean. The snooker room is awesome; not only is the snooker table in fantastic condition, the room is also complimented with a bar, darts board, TV and sound system. There's an additional smaller games room above the kitchen which has a pool table, Wii console and music equipment.
The kitchen is well-stocked and the dinning table comfortably seats 12 adults. There's an additional dinning room (which we didn't need to use) and a cosy lounge room with a traditional fire place - all of which contribute the house being a perfect country rental property.
The local pub (The New Inn) is only a five minute walk from the house. It's friendly and the locals were very welcoming, considering we were a group of 14 males.
I would certainly recommend!

We travelled as a party of 13 - (9 adults, 4 children) Pengwern is a fantastic home from home and Caroline (the owner) has made sure guests can enjoy & discover the house and the surrounding area with ease & comfort. The secure bike store, boot room & drying room ensure you can experience the great outdoors and all your clothing, footwear and equipment is safe, dry and accessible. The snooker room/bar area became a daily activity to look forward to after long days of exploring/walking and sight seeing and apart from going to the local put to watch the football on BT Sports we really wouldn't have had to leave the comfort of the house after our days out. It has everything you need. Great music collection (to suit all tastes, loads of DVD's to watch and a lovely patio area to sit out in to enjoy the sights & sounds of the stunning surroundings. The games room for the children has everything your children could wish for (their own space) being one of them - our children had hours of fun in there and it's a brilliant addition to a magnificent country home. There are detailed walks/bike rides in a folder in the house which were really useful and the owner has taken time & consideration in making these as informative as possible. The area itself is just stunning - lots of walks & bike rides from the house, sheep/lamps outside your front door and a wood and mini mountain to climb right on your doorstep, no need to take the car out (unless you run out of supplies) so as long as you plan ahead you really can escape the hustle & bustle of everyday life. We arranged for an online shop from Asda to deliver our shopping which was extremely useful as the nearest supermarket is in Oswestry which is quite a distance away from Pengwern. The kitchen/cooking facilities have everything you need and there is lots of space around the two tables to accommodate multiple guests at meal times. We will definitely be returning - we had the best time and from several houses we've stayed at previously - Pengwern ticked all the boxes :)

Absolutely fantastic property, clean, tidy, spacious, secluded, what more could you ask for.. Great for weekends away with groups, great facilities with the pool and snooker rooms, board games and outdoor space. My only addition would be a hot tub, but that is in no way a criticism and understand why a property of heritage such as this would not have one.
I could go on and on listing the positives this property maintains, however, you should stop just hovering over the 'book now' button; click it and see for yourself.

Just returned from a long weekend with friends (4 couples). A fantastic cottage with excellent amenities. The views are stunning and you’ll receive a very warm welcome from the owner Caroline. The cottage caters for all your needs couples and families with its snooker room and family games room. A cosy living room with a large log burner. There’s plenty of walks around the surrounding area and you can just relax on the patio and soak up the amazing views. I can honestly say all couples did not want to leave.

If you’re looking for a secluding, spacious and well equipped place to stay in Wales, I would look no further.
The property is great for weekends or holidays with friends and family, 6 large king size rooms with a large social set kitchen, snooker and pool room and snug with a fireplace; what more could you ask for.
Caroline our host was very warm and friendly and popped round late one morning to make sure we were okay, sure enough we were. Plenty of logs were made available for the fire and Rayburn range cooker (electric cooker if you don’t need this).
There are many local walks and areas of interest, kindly explained in a guide book written by our host. There are a couple of pubs in the village of Llangynog which are certainly walkable, however, I would take a torch or light if you were planning on socialising into the night. If you plan on doing some walking further afield, Snowdonia is just over an hour away, the Glyders loop (Tryfan, Glyders Fach, Glyder Fawr and Y Gan) really is a breathtaking walk I would recommend.
I could go on and on with a list of positives with this property, but words can’t quite explain its idilic location, setting and style!
I will be booking again in the future!

It was a tough decision for all the family to decide which cottage we were to spend celebrating my 40th birthday celebration in.. We had at least 10 great cottages to choose from which ticked all the boxes. I can honestly say we made the best decision, this cottage exceeded our expectations more than we could of imagined, 4 families all under one roof and everyone had their own preference on where to be, kids in the pool/games room adults in the snooker room sitting around the mini bar and some enjoying a quiet movie around the log burner in the lounge.
Caroline was so very helpful, even weeks before we stayed at the cottage Caroline had given me heaps of information regarding biking trails in the area. Which literally started from the doorstep.
The kids are crazy about wildlife, so for them to able to sit out on the tree swing amongst the sheep meant the were out there rain or shine in their element!
I personally have never missed a place so much once being back home, really was a dream lifestyle come true!
If I could do anything different next time, it would be to pack less clothes because we had no need to leave the cottage!
All the families will be returning next year.

This fantabulous cottage has amazing views of the valley.. Ideal location to spend with large group of friends/families. Kids loved the games room and collection of books. Quite near to "Bala Lake" or "Pistyll Rhaeadr" waterfall.
Will defnitely think of coming again in summer. This was one trip which will stay in our memories for very long.
Thanks to the lovely owner for very well maintained warm & cosy cottage.
