We stayed here as a group of friends for a long weekend away and the cottage met all our needs fantastically. It's in a quiet and beautiful location, it is spacious and well equipped, and full of character. Great walks from the door step, and really impressive pub just a 2 minute walk away. Phyllis was a great and helpful host. This cottage definitely represents excellent value for money, we were all extremely impressed. If only for a slightly more powerful shower in the main bathroom and i would have gladly given 5stars. Would stay again without hesitation. Thanks.

We’ve just come back from a weeks holiday at Orchard Cottage and thoroughly enjoyed it. The cottage is well equipped with plenty of room for everyone. We had a problem with one of the showers (these things happen) but Phyllis had it sorted out in no time and it didn’t detract from our enjoyment of the property. The village really is very pretty and the local pub a real gem. We will be back, thank you.

Stayed in Orchard View with the family to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary. The cottage was warm and very welcoming, Phyllis called in to welcome us and left us a plate of home made cakes. The accommodation had more than enough room for our party of nine. Fully central heated plus a great wood burning stove in the sitting room, great kitchen/diner with all the utensils you would ever need. The grandchildren had a great time in the games room, allowing the adults to chill out in the sitting room. We have no hesitation in recommending this cottage set in a lovely village, great for walkers, and excellent food available at The Sycamore, only two minutes walk away.

Very well-kept, beautifully clean, cute cottage in a lovely village. We were welcomed and looked after. Asking how to put the heating on, Phyllis came straight round. We had everything we needed and our dog was welcome too. Easy few minutes walk to the pub and enjoyed two meals there. We were looking for somewhere to stay to go to Chatsworth flower show and this cottage was in easy reach of there and many other excellent places to visit in and around the peak district.

We stayed in this cottage recently as a group of four friends. This is a great cottage in the South East of the Peak District. Perfect location to be able to walk straight from the house. The house itself has beds to sleep 8, in 4 bedrooms. There are two double rooms, one single and one triple. One of the doubles has an ensuite and there is another communal bathroom upstairs. Beds are comfortable. Bathrooms were not particularly modern, bud did the job... even if the shower was a bit hit or miss! Downstairs there is a lounge with wood burning stove, a snug room, kitchen/ diner, a uility room with downstairs loo and a games room with a small snooker table in the garage. We had all the equipment we needed in the kitchen to be able to cook what we had planned. Outside there is parking for two cars, but plenty of space for more cars on the street. There is also a front garden which was lovely and peaceful. If you are wanting modern luxury this iss not it, however as a base for walkers it certainly does the job.

We could not have found a better or more welcoming place for the whole family to celebrate my husbands' 70th birthday. We had a personal welcome from the owner who showed us all the facilities for our use, perfect for 6 adults,3 small grandchildren and new baby. The kitchen was extremely well equipped, the property very warm and cosy and the grandchildren loved having their own separate sitting room in which to play.A short walk away is the village pub where we received a very warm welcome for our celebration family meal, arranged to suit timing for the children. The pub also provides a shop for your daily needs. Our weekend passed all to quickly and we would love to return for a longer, more leisurely holiday.

We spent our holiday in Orchard View House with my daughter, son-in-law and baby granddaughter. The cottage was welcoming, spacious and well equipped. The kitchen is modern and large - a very nice room. The utility room is a lovely space in which to bath the baby, wash and dry clothes, etc. Having 2 sitting rooms meant that we could spend some time separately as well as together, which was nice. The en-suite bedroom is situated a little apart from the other 3 bedrooms and family bathroom, which afforded privacy to both parts of the family. The cottage was very clean. The garden was large and well kept, and the car parking area was just right for our 2 cars. The location of the cottage was perfect for us, as the village is beautiful, and the village pub, (which doubles as the village shop) was very welcoming and served good beer and nice, comforting, homely food which was just what we wanted.

Great layout of the property; 2 living areas so good for children and adults to have some separate space, bedrooms are large and utility room great for wellies and coats. Fantastic garden for small children and dog as all enclosed. Good location for seeing such a beautiful area. Pub and shop 2 minutes walk and some lovely walks from the property, all uphill to start with! Really lovely property that suited 3 generations perfectly and very welcoming and friendly owner.

We were met as soon as we arrived by the very friendly owner, she took us right round the property and told us about the surrounding area. The house is really well laid out with plenty of space for everyone. The utility room was really handy for dirty boots etc, and the games room went down a treat. Parwich is a beautiful little village, well located with plenty of walks and activities nearby. Thoroughly recommend this property.

July 2012
A beautiful cottage set in the very quiet village of Parwich about 7 miles from Ashbourne. The cottage is very well appointed with two good size double bedrooms one with en suite and two further bedrooms. The cottage says it sleeps 9, and there are 9 beds but personally i think this would be a bit of a tight squeeze. Kitchen is lovely with a new Oven and Microwave and a lovely big kitchen table that seats 6. There is also two lounges and a downstairs toilet which is always handy. Cottage is only a ten minute drive to the main Ashbourne to Buxton road so location is excellent, the village is very quiet with a church and more importantly a village pub, the pub itself is pretty basic with a limited food menu but ideal for a few pints. There is also a village shop located in the pub for those that have forgotten something ! The only negatives on the cottage, were that you are only supplied with one towel each by the owner, and when the weather is wet all week there is nowhere to dry your towel unless you want to put the heating on so it might be an idea to bring a spare! there is a BBQ at the property but it is in the boot shed around the side of the house, we werent told this on arrival and didnt find it until the last day, not that it mattered as it rained all week. The only other negative is that there is no wi-fi or internet access at the property and no phone signal in the village therefore if you are planning to keep up to date with emails or work etc then you might have a problem. Over all a lovely cottage ideal for a week getting away from it all.

I arranged a suprise weekend away at Orchard View for my husbands 60th Birthday with our children and our grandson. All of the rooms are very spacious and comfortable, with good parking . Our 17 month old grandson slept very well at the cottage and he really loved the Wendy House in the back garden. The owner was very helpful, giving me information about Orchard View, Parwich and also nearby surrounding areas. We visited the local Church and the Pub which serves food and has a shop within walking distance of Orchard View. There is a childrens playground opposite the pub.The people we met at Parwich were very friendly. A very successful 60th Birthday weekend. Everyone including Flo the dog thoroughly enjoyed their stay at Orchard View. Perfect!

We loved the welcome from the cottage owner, she was genuinely friendly and helpful. The cottage location is perfect for dog walkers folks who want to do nothing but trundle to the local pub for a few shandies. A great location to escape unwind in peace and rural beauty. The cottage is lovely, a modern kitchen and plenty of space for everyone to mingle. We were all very happy to spend hours sat in front of the log fire just chatting and dozing. For the more adventurous folks, Parwich is only a short 20 minute drive to Ashbourne.

We stayed here after finding the cottage on Sykes Cottages. My main criteria was somewhere peaceful, dog friendly, baby friendly...and most of all, local to a good pub! The village is hidden in Derbyshire..and driving through you get the feeling that you are isolated from the world. We found the cottage, and dived inside to escape the rain. Xmas decorations were up, and cake was waiting for us. The wood fire was stocked ready to light (a lovely touch), and it felt like home from home straight away. All the bedrooms are lovely, my parents had the master room which was beautiful with exposed beams and fireplace. We had the 4 poster room, which gave plenty of room for our travel cot. The family & single rooms were also very comfortable and pretty. Off we trundled to the pub to await the rest of our party. A proper old local boozer, with friendly folk and a roaring fire. The atmosphere was highlighted by chaps from another village bursting into the pub to entertain us with a "panto" about George and the Dragon, and the beer guzzling horse. At least I think thats what it was....blame Mr. j. Daniels.... Phyliss the owner of the cottage called into the pub to greet us..a lovely touch, and I doubt there is anything that would be too much trouble for her to make your stay pleasurable. Dog walks a plenty, muddy boots a necessity. All in all..a wonderful memorable cottage for my Dads 60th birthday surprise get together.
