Area
The Norfolk village of Southery, translating from the ‘old English’ as Southern Island is situated seven miles from the town of Downham Market, one of the oldest towns in Norfolk. Southery has a pub, The Old White Bell, and two churches. Downham Market is known locally as the gateway to the Fens, renowned for its network of waterways. The town boasts an attractive black and white clock tower in its main square, and hosts a weekly outdoor market on Fridays and Saturdays selling mostly local produce, along with an additional fortnightly Saturday collectables and craft market. On the fringe of the town is the mainline railway station with links to Ely, Cambridge, King's Cross London and King's Lynn. Discover the great outdoors along the Fen Rivers Way footpaths enjoying distinctive Fens landscape rich in history and wildlife, leading to the River Great Ouse with dramatic open sky and the flood banks that protect the low lying Fens. Just a short drive away is Welney's Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust nature reserve, popular with birdwatchers, where you can view nature in action throughout the seasons, including dragonflies, wildflowers and a wealth of water birds. Other interesting places to visit include Ely Cathedral, the historic maritime town of King's Lynn, Wisbech, the Queen's Sandringham Estate, along with the west Norfolk coastal villages, towns and RSPB sites. A great Norfolk base.

We love staying here, it's cosy, but big enough for the two of us, comfy and so very clean! Ann and Andy are the perfect hosts who literally think of everything. They are generous and so friendly. We have recommended Little London and glad to say that relatives have now booked too. The linens, crockery, glassware and cookware etc are of super quality. The new king size bed and pillows are very comfortable. Lots of new additions since our last visit, including big smart TV and another in bedroom too. 'Our' little garden is just perfect, with lots of visiting birds and beautiful trees and shrubs. Trying to think when we can book again. Lovely place and lovely people. Lots of interesting towns and places of interest nearby, EH and NT.

We've visited 3 self catering places in the last 5 weeks and we usually visit at least 6 in a year. Little London is exceptional and this is our third visit. No where else provides such a wide range of comprehensive extras. We honestly could retire now and move in permenantly. It is immaculately clean and the hosts are lovely. If you are visiting Norfolk this is definitely the place to stay. We left it a little late to book this year and nearly missed out. Thanks Anne and Andy.

The cottage is in an ideal position for exploring the many attractions of Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. We stayed for two weeks and visited several of the sites which are within easy reach, Ely, Sandringham etc, The cottage itself was immaculate and very well equipped with many thoughtful 'extras' . The little private garden is lovely. Ann and Any were incredibly helpful. they were most concerned that my husband, who is disabled, was comfortable, even providing alternative seating. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would highly recommend it. One of the best cottages we have rented.

We have just spent one of our best holidays in Little London. The cottage is perfect, well appointed, immaculate and in a very pleasant village. The owners could not do enough for us, making sure we had all we needed, and making us so welcome. There were provisions in the kitchen for us and also every home comfort you could wish for, We enjoyed exploring the area, including Sandringham and some National Trust properties. We always enjoyed returning to the cottage to relax and have an evening meal, it was too good to leave and go out for dinner!! We will return

We, a couple, stayed here for two weeks in January then another two in February. This Cottage is exceptional! Everything you could possibly need is provided in the Kitchen and the property has been furnished and decorated to a five star standard throughout. The cleanliness and attention to detail are impeccable. The owners Ann and Andy are lovely, whilst ensuring you have privacy, they are nearby and do their utmost to ensure that you want for nothing and have a very enjoyable stay. I can envisage that they will have a lot of repeat custom, we will definitely be back! Thank you so much for everything.
