After exploring the beautiful surroundings of the Peak District it was good to get back to the comfort of Heath Cottage to sit back and rest and admire the view from the cottage which was small but lovely, clean and welcoming after our days out , we must say the bed was very comfy and Sally is a mine of information about Edale & surrounding area's, thank you..

Really enjoyed my stay at this lovely cottage really cosy, quiet.. Kitchen well equiped, lovely shower. Nice to sit on the private terrace and watch and listen to the sheep and lambs in the fields opposite - very rekaxing. Ideal location for walking up mam tor, kinder scout and to lady bower reservoir and hope. Owners very helpful. Cottage located only 10 minutes walk from edale hamlet where there is two pubs and tea rooms (pennypot was my favourite) and a local shop and edale station. Enjoyed the monthly folk on the train band at the ramblers pub.

Set in a beautiful rural location, this cottage more than met our expectations.. Stunning views out of the living room windows, a lovely little patio set and fresh flowers all made this a great stay. The cottage was very clean, cosy and warm (we stayed in December). Things to note: It's about a ten min walk into the centre of Edale, but make sure you bring a torch as it is pitch black at night! The cottage come equipped with loo roll, washing up liquid, salt, pepper and other basics. Would definitely re-book!

Mrs Gee (and her family) made us very welcome and we were impressed to have our washing done for us mid-holiday! Heath Cottage was an excellent base for us and we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Edale, enjoying new walks and old and some excellent weather in our second week. We hope very much to return next year.

A warm welcome.. The cottage had more than everything we needed. Very friendly owners who on our arrival explained fully about the workings of the cottage. It is on a sheep farm and our visit coincided with lambing time which is obviously an extremely busy time for the owners. Even so Mr andMrs Gee went out of their way to explain the workings of the farm. We spent a very pleasant week in beautiful countryside surrounded by sheep and lambs and learnt a lot. We wii return.

It was a working farm breeding sheep so we learnt a lot about sheep breeding.. The cottage was just right not too big , not too small, everything worked although it had a funny television set up. The owners of the property were helpful friendly and although very busy due to the lambing time were always willing to talk about sheep. The property was really out in the country side at the end of a single track lane which really needed a few more passing points so timing was important when coming and going. The scenery from the cottage is awe inspiring I have never been so impressed, the weather was good so the Peaks were showing their full glory. I would recommend this cottage to anyone who loves the country side.

Heath Cottage is a cosy, comfortable cottage, well equipped with everything needed for a week's holiday for two people and set in glorious countryside on a working farm.. Given the weather, the outside area is perfect for sitting and relaxing. Mrs Gee and her family were very welcoming and helpful, despite being run off their feet with lambing. If we visit this area again we will definitely stay at Heath Cottage.

Great location within 5 minute walk to centre of Stratford. Parking permit supplied for one car, nearby car park which cost £20 for 3 nights. 2 double bedrooms but the only draw back was that one of the bedrooms had no wardrobe or drawers so we lived out of our suitcase. It was ok for 3 nights but not ideal for any longer! However, the rest of the cottage was lovely - cosy lounge, well equipped kitchen and dining room with a wonderful hot tub in the garden!

June 2015
I liked this so much that I want to keep it a secret. The end of a lane and a pleasant walk to the Edale Hamlet. Fantastic views of Mam Tor and the associated scarp. We only had to use the car once (we took it to Hope to shop and to walk to Castleton along the river - 30/40 mins). Very good value for money and delightful landlady in the farmhouse next door. Edale has a couple of good restaurants/pubs and is easy walking distance (so you can have a couple of holiday pints!). Lovely terrace to sit on, quiet sleeping. Walkers paradise either up into the hills or around the local lanes and easy footpaths of the Edale valley. Put the kids in the camp site near by and mum and dad can stay here perhaps. We're going back in the winter.

Owners were very friendly and welcoming and it was nice to be in the country and within a few minutes walk of the village. Weather was very wet and there was not a lot to do in those conditions. Had it been a nice sunny week it would have been a totally different holiday. However the little cottage was very comfortable and well worth a second visit in the future. A lovely spot to visit

Edale is a beautiful valley, staying on a farm within walking distance was just right. The owner was very friendly and had provided everything we needed, a hot towel rail was a real plus as we had endless rain and needed some pampering. Very well equipped for a couple.

The cottage was one of four located around a farmyard on a sheep farm. The farm was was within walking distance of two pubs and a small shop. General shopping is in Hope about 5 miles distant. The cottage is in a scenic setting with easy access to walking routes and open access land. The cottage had everything to make a comfortable stay. The owners were attentive without being intrusive. we should recommend a stay at the cottage.
Mrs Wilson

June 2011
The property is on a working farm and in a particularly scenic part of Derbyshire. It was good to see the work involved in sheep farming. The cosy cottage and garden fulfilled all our needs. The owners were very welcoming and sociable. As hill walking was part of the reason for our choice it was good to be able to set off directly from the cottage. Our thanks to our hostess and her husband for sharing their property with us.
Mrs Upson

The situation of the cottage was perfect with amazing views down the valley. The owner went to the trouble of providing milk in the fridge on arrival and fresh flowers in the lounge and bedroom which were much appreciated.

November 2010
The owners were very friendly and helpful but in no way intrusive. The cottage was very sweet, small but ideal for two. Perfect location for walking and pubs nearby for food. We love the Peak District so this was and ideal spot to explore from. The Edale Valley does get 'the weather' but on rainy days a good book and a lovely view was all that was needed.
Mr Wilde
September 2010

September 2010
A most wonderful setting; on a sunny day we could have sat for hours just watching the play of the sunlight on the hills. Ideally situated - we made several trips out and would recommend Lyme Park (NT) in Cheshire. Very welcoming, watching the wildlife was fun. A repeat trip is a distinct possibility!

When we arrived snow was very deep and we were unable to get our car up the lane that lead to the farm and cottage. We needn't have worried, the owners; John and Sally where there to help us; taking us up to the cottage in their four wheel drive. If that wasn't enough Sally even went out of her way and brought our food supply's from the village some miles away. Just like 'Sykes Cottages', Sally and John were so helpful, we were warm and content and above al; felt entirely safe. A huge thanks to 'Sykes' for making it possible through their friendly Staff, and to John and Sally for making it such a memorable Christmas. Many Thanks. D. Read.

December 2009
We were happy with the unobtrusive approach of the owners on this working farm. The cottage looked impossibly tiny on the outside but seemed a lot bigger inside and offered everything we needed for a week. The views were extensive and beautiful from the cottage and farmyard and there were wonderful hill walks all round. A short walk took us into leafy Edale with its visitor centre, tiny shop, and two pubs. Unfortunately the nearest pub served up terrible food, and we didn't try the other one. Luckily there were plenty of others to choose from in the area, if you were prepared to drive a short way.

The cottage appeared to be in the middle of nowhere, but a ten minute walk along a well marked footpath bought you into the centre of Edale. The pub, The Nags Head, served excellent food all day and in no way were you made to feel unwelcome, in fact if you weren't in walking boots you were out of place.
