Property Description

Head out to visit both the Lake District National Park and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Your nearest lake is pretty Haweswater (22 miles) which is a great starting point for many a walk. If you re visiting in dry months, see if you can spy remnants of the old villages. Just 19 miles in the other direction, the tumbling waterfall at Cotter Force is beautiful and well worth a visit. On your way home from days out, stop off in the village of Ravenstonedale (2 miles) or the town of Kirkby Stephen (6 miles) for something tasty to eat. A handful of interesting castles surround the area, including Brough Castle (11.5 miles) where you can discover tales of years gone by. Step up and through the front door to make yourself at home in this lovely cottage. With the bedrooms on the ground floor, climb stairs to the first floor open plan living area to get comfortable. Exposed brickwork and beams create a welcoming, cosy atmosphere, complemented by the wood burner effect electric fire. Spend time on the sofa or chair in front of the TV / DVD or admire views over the garden before cooking meals in the kitchen, which is equipped with microwave, electric oven, hob, fridge, freezer and plenty of storage space. Plate up at the dining table where you can gaze over the surrounding countryside. Head downstairs to the twin bedroom and shower room. Take a brew outside and sit a while in the fresh air. The shared gardens have a summerhouse and a firepit. There is parking by the cottage. Access to the cottage is via an unfenced farm track surrounded by fields. Cows live in the fields in July and August, sheep at other times of the year, so please keep your dog on a lead.
