Holiday home Cob Cottage is a cottage near the market town of St Columb Major just seven miles from Newquay. The cottage sleeps three people and has one double bedroom, one twin and family shower room. Also in the cottage are a fitted kitchen with dining area and sitting area with woodburner. Outside is off road parking for one car, and garden with furniture. Situated near the north Cornish coast, Cob Cottage is a lovely family holiday cottage all year round.

Area An old and picturesque market town nestled among lush green countryside, just five miles from the North Cornish Coast. The resort attractions of Newquay includes bars, clubs, a zoo, vibrant shops, the National Surfing Centre and fabulous beaches are all just 7 miles away, while 9 miles in the other direction is the sleepy fishing port of Padstow. In between lies a beautiful section of the South West Coast path, winding its way over the clifftops, down to tranquil coves and across some of the region's top beaches.
Region Cornwall's visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain's premier holiday destinations.
Amenities Electric central heating with woodburner. Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, TV with Freeview, WiFi, selection of books and games. Fuel and starter inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Off road parking for 1 car. Garden with gravelled and patio areas, furniture and BBQ. Sorry, no smoking. Shop and pub 1 mile. Note: Open tread spiral staircase, care to be taken. Property accepts one small well behaved dog.
I recently stayed in Cob Cottage in Cornwall, which was in a great location but it lacked basics and was cheaply equipped. There was also a health and safety risk in the main bedroom - for a family with a young child I do not recommend staying here. It was not one thing that let the cottage down, it was the aggregation of many small issues: the compartment in the fridge door had been broken but never replaced; the dishwasher needed liquid; the outdoor table had a broken chair and the umbrella was missing; there were no mixing bowls; there was only one toilet roll for the week; and some of the utensils were broken. Finally, if you own a large car you will find parking very difficult. Basically, the owner was doing the bare minimum, yet was still charging a premium. We had to go shopping to make good these issues and I expected more for the price I paid. I reported these findings to Sykes. The Sykes business model means the resolution has to be between the customer and the owner (who wasn't interested); Sykes take little or no responsibility for the condition of the cottage. I do not recommend Cob Cottage unless your expectations are low; and I would not use Sykes again because of their hands off business model.

We did look on trip advisor and laughed. Spiders everywhere. We looked up the chimby. You cant theres is a metal restrictor plate fitted.
Shower perfect. No spiders. This property the owner and booking diary on site show its booked on average 48 weeks per year. Cant be bad. Its constantly lived in.
Prity spiral stair case as advertised.
Some people look for problems.
You may get the odd spider like at home.
All mod cons. Clean. Comfy. Ideal for a couple or 3 people.
Small enclosed garden.

We were expecting to arrive at a 5 star clean cottage.. We dont feel it is five stars as cleanliness was poor and the property had a fusty smell due to issues with dampness. We also had a constant dripping kitchen tap and a bedroom blind that would not fully close.

The spiral staircase was very small and awkward to use, especially 6' 2" of me carrying a suitcase.. The weather was very cold and we struggled to keep warm even with the log burner working. The shower switch valve did not work so washing hair became a small problem.

Cold cottage, heating on timer which you were continually pressing the boost button to get heat. Woodburner door was loose, so couldn't keep the fire in, as it was drawing all the time. The Tumble Dryer didn't work, items were put in and came out still wet but hot. The shower had poor water pressure. The bathroom sink was small. We had extreme winds and something in the chimney caused banging all night which kept us awake. There was no garden only a tiny patio, no good if you have a dog. On the whole a terrible stay would not recommend this property in the winter when its cold, wet and windy. We cut our holiday short by 3 days due to being cold, not being able to dry wet clothes and having no where to hang them to even try and dry them off. After reporting all these faults felt that nothing would be done and fell on deaf ears. We've had holiday cottages for 14 years and this was probably the worst one we've stayed in.

Your photo's of Cobs Cottage is very misleading inside and out, ie.. you took a long shot of the outside of the house which looks like we are getting a good size rental property, but when we came around the corner it was very small for the price we paid. Inside the shower room it was to small and the shower itself was not powerful enough, also the hand wash basin was to small. There was no electric power point to plug a shaver into. As we only used the main bedroom it could do with a very good cob webbing. Outside the property the car parking space is to small for our large car as i was asked to move it twice to allow large lorry's through, i could not reverse it back to the wall as i would have blocked the access to next doors property.
Overall we could not class this property as a 5 star rental home but more like a 4 star.

Stayed at cob cottage for a week returning on 2nd June 2018 .. We had a lovely time the cottage was spotless and comfortable also great for the dog she loved the garden area. Very quiet location great for sleeping . The owners were
very welcoming leaving cream scones and orange juice on our arrival. Lots of information on where to go around the area and the beaches were fab. Found the spiral staircase very challenging trying to get the suitcase upstairs . But all together a very enjoyable week.

Lovely little cottage in the village of St Columb Major. Ideally located for local beaches and not too far from the main roads if you want to explore the area.
The cottage itself is beautifully restored and immaculate. Everything you could need was provided, even a washing machine! The bathroom is compact but the shower is hot and powerful.
The beds were exceptional - unbelievably comfortable!!! We experienced some of the best sleep we have had in ages due to the excellent mattresses.
Loads of information is provided by the owners so you can get out and about and explore the area. The roads are fairly narrow if you're not used to them! Upon arriving we had a lovely cream tea waiting for us which was just what we needed after a long journey.

A superb cottage - well equipped, with a high standard of finish. It was clean and modern with a good use of space. It was a home from home, had everything we needed and a few little extras we didn't expect. The owners have done a really great job turning a small home into a cosy retreat and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. The location was great too, within easy reach of all the main tourist spots. All in all a really lovely place to stay.
