Clovermead is a beautiful, spacious cottage with a fantastic garden.. The cottage contains everything you need and more. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful without being intrusive. We visited Kedleston Hall, Calke Abbey and the wonderful National Memorial Arboretum, all within easy reach. Dog walk and morning coffee every day at the Mercia Marina was very pleasant. I would certainly recommend this cottage.

Clovermead Cottage was comfortable and spacious.. Everything we needed for a great holiday. The walks around the Cottage and the area were awesome. We caught up with family and friends and it became a great base. The owners with friendly and approachable and very generous. Would go back again and again.

Wonderful, cosy cottage.. Very well equipped. Amazing huge dog friendly garden that our golden retriever loved. Yes there's noise from the A38 but you can't hear it from in the house. We liked being able to walk into the village and getting the bus into Derby or Burton to do a bit of shopping! Mercia Marina is an easy walk and a lovely place to visit too. Would definitely recommend.

YOU NEED TO GET THE COTTAGES' ADDRESS CORRECT! IT IS IN FINDERN VILLAGE, AND NOT BURNASTON. THE DIFFERENCE IS PROBABLY 2 DAYS SEARCHING AS ITS 5 MILES AWAY!

The bungalow was lovely and comfortable, the garden was lovely, safe and secure for our dog and the owners were very helpful and friendly but not intrusive.. The only failing we had was the 24hr droning from the A50 but nothing can be done about that.

Just a fabulous, relaxing place to stay.. Wonderfully central, wherever you want to go. Clovermead Cottage is so comfortable and well appointed, we came back for a second year. Findern is also a beautiful village, with great walks and THE most wonderful tea rooms. If you want space, inside and out, facilities nearby and lovely hosts, this is the place for you.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Clovermead Cottage.. We were surprised at how large and secure the Garden was. Our Doberman loved the space and we felt comfortable in the knowledge that he was safe and unable to escape. The Cottage itself was clean, spacious, well equipped and in a wonderful location because you had walks on your door step. The only downside was the noise from the road but reading previous reviews we were fully aware of this before our visit. The owners were extremely helpful and informative without being intrusive. I would recommend this bungalow to anyone who has a dog, loves the countryside and canal walks.

The cottage is absolutely beautiful and the views are brilliant - having so much land for my dog to run around in was an added bonus .. the welcome pack was indeed welcome .

Excellent accommodation with lovely secure garden, glorious on a lovely day but unfortunately we had the wettest week possible.. Such a shame as what looked like lovely places to walk around the cottage. The road is noisy nearby but you quickly get used to it. Would recommend to friends and family. There was a great choice of leaflets letting us what was on and where to go in the cottage and a lovely welcome pack on arrival.

The Cottage was very spacious and comfortable and in a great location to visit places of interest.. It is very well equipped and beds are comfortable. We were given a warm welcome and Rosemary was very approachable. The village of Findern is a quaint english village with a cute tea shop and some nice pubs with food.

The kitchen was so well equipped that I cooked a full Christmas dinner easily in it. There were Christmas decorations up when we arrived & Rosemary even helped with our Christmas tree. Been twice now & e joyed both visits. Also nice to be greeted with a basket of groceries upon arrival

We really enjoyed staying in this farm cottage/bungalow. Really roomy, light and cosy. We had everything we needed. Very warm and homely. The cottage is easy to get to as it is just off the A38. It is set up as an accessible property too for people with disabilities. It was lovely to have a welcome basket of bread rolls, jam and marmalade and mince pies. Milk in the fridge too. So nice to have this. Thank you Rosemary. The only thing that what not provided was a hairdryer. We will come and stay again to explore the area some more.

Initially I was disappointed with the price.. The price I had to pay did not match that advertised on Holidaylettings. I phoned Sykes Cottages and was told there was an issue with prices being quoted under the actual price for Cottages managed by Sykes when advertised on Holidaylettings. The cottage was wonderful. Very homely and spacious. Apart from a hair drier we had everything we needed. So lovely to have a welcome basket of milk, bread rolls and mince pies. Thanks Rosemary. We will be back.

Large enclosed garden ideal for any pet dog without worry of escaping and the hosts, Rosemary and David, ensure your stay is a pleasant one.. Would recommend to anyone with mobility problems with or without a dog! Only thing to be aware of is traffic noise from nearby A38 but you soon get used to it.

We had a lovely holiday at Clovermead Cottage, we were really pleased with the accommodation, the garden was an amazing secure space for our dog to run around in and enjoy.. The cottage is spacious, very comfortable and we liked the owner's thoughtful touches and the welcome basket of delicious goodies was extremely kind and generous. There was lots to do and see in the immediate and surrounding areas, we came back from our holiday relaxed and refreshed and would definitely recommend this cottage.

This cottage was absolutely amazing.. We just couldn't believe the space and comfort that we had. The facilities were there to relax inside, on the balcony or make use of the amazing outside space. The owners were amazingly friendly, but not 'in your face' and you were left very much with the feeling that nothing was too much trouble. The welcome basket was fantastic, and so welcome after a long trip. The walks around the local area were wonderful, and we can definitely recommend the tea shop in the village. Would certainly recommend this to anyone who wants good facilities, countryside but conveniently close to Derby and Nottingham. (We have already rebooked for next year!!)

Such lovely accommodation.. Beautiful setting overlooking countryside and a horse in the adjacent field. Lots of space and the children made good use of the dvds and games supplied. Ideal site for visiting our family who live on Mercia Marina and only a short drive to Burton and Litchfield for shopping. Will certainly use again. Thank you.

August 2018
The owner were very welcoming, they kept the cottage well maintained and organised.. With plenty of inside and outside space for kids and dogs to play safely. Giving us parents a much needed break too. The little touches were appreciated, A welcome basket was provided with homemade jams, marmalade, oils, home grown veg and fresh eggs etc... Nothings seemed to be overlooked From torches, kids nightlights to outside toys and games. We also enjoyed watching the horses in the adjacent field. This is our eighth cottage holiday and the most relaxing stress free so far.

Lovely cottage in South Derbyshire, with good, clean facilities; dog-friendly; lovely walks along the Trent-Mersey canal just minutes from the cottage.. We were made very welcome by the owner, with milk, scones, and other provisions. The kids really enjoyed the garden, and my wife and I enjoyed the verandah.

NEVER AGAIN WOULD WE BOOK THIS COTTAGE...we booked on the phone with Sykes Cottages and stated we wasn't sure of the party size due to work commitments at the time but Sykes Cottages confirmed whether 3 or 5 people attended that it didn't matter as we paid for the cottage regardless. i spoke to Mrs Noblet the owner on the phone a week beforehand to confirm check in time and she offered us anytime from 11 am on wards as the door would be unlocked as she was away herself. On arrival the daughter lied to us claiming crossly that there was still cleaners in property when it was clear that she was the cleaner and had a right go at us for turning up early stating she would be having words with her mum about what she had offered us. The next day the mum and daughter walked past us on the street ignoring us completely smerking which we found very unsocialable and rude. We spoke to Mr noblet who stood at the garden gate about buying their eggs and he just stood there not answering us but staring at us, so we asked him again and he rudely said post the money in letterbox. We needed to ask about the shower constantly going cold and they had ignored 2 of our phone caand he huffed off to our cottage next door to his own house grumbling about our request. THE OWNERS CAME INTO TH PROPERTY WHILST WE WERE OUT AND SWITCHED OFF OUTSIDE LIGHTS RADIO AND BATHROOM LIGHT is that legal trespassing on our time uninvited to help themselves for non emergencies and without consent......The outside chairs cushions were dumped by front door in living room and the garden grass was only half cut and dog mess left from their own dogs. The cottage was very dusty old fashioned and marks on the bedding obviously very deceiving photos on site. On departure Mrs Noblet shouted at us for having an extra guest stay over even though my aunt had only visited us on the day as she was visiting relatives near by....Begs the question were they watching us. THERE WAS NO WELCOME WORDS WHILST WE WAS THERE AND NO GOODBYE OR THANK YOU GESTURES AT ALL ON DEPARTURE BUT INSTEAD THE DAUGHTER KNOCKED ON THE DOOR 5 MINUTES BEFORE DEPARTURE TIME AND TOLD US "YOU NEED TO GO NOW SO WE CAN CLEAN UP" ...... how aggressive unprofessional and unkind are is this family...perhaps they choose who to be cruel to and should definitely not be in the hospitality business..absolutely disgusting behaviour

This property is such a gem.. So comfortable and spacious. They have thought of everything you could possibly need. The garden is so large and lovely for the dog to enjoy, It is in a lovely peaceful location but handy for lots of places to visit. The owners are really lovely and friendly but not intrusive. My 88 year old Mum and her dog went with me and we had a wonderful time. The en suite wetroom is ideal for Mum and Rosemary provided a toilet riser and shower stool to help Mum be independent. She really enjoyed her stay. This is the second time we have stayed there and hope to go back again. The welcome pack was wonderful. I would thoroughly recommend this property to anybody looking for a nice comfortable holiday.

All the 'cottages we've booked with you have been very good indeed.. This one was excellent. There is no need for me to say that Sykes 'exceeded expectations' as we got what I expected to get from you, given the previous history..........

It is not the first time I have stopped at Clovermead, Rosemary and David had decorated the lounge for Christmas for me and put up outside lights on the decking area, brilliant nothing is too much trouble for them.. I had family over the Christmas week and they supplied an extra table so we could all sit down together and enjoy the festivities. Clovermead is a real home from home for me and my dog Remy just loves the large paddock around the cottage to run safely around in. The double bed is very comfy and I always sleep well, the Wi-Fi added since my last visit allowed me to do my work [even though I was on holiday] mainly had a relaxing time though in lovely well equipped cottage would recommend to anybody Thank you Rosemary and David for another excellent stay.

Absolutely stunning cottage.. A nice homely warm feeling when we arrived. Situated in nice grounds, garden is a great size. Handy location for Derby for what we needed. No wifi but that wasn't a problem for us, phone signal will get hampered by solar panels. But they are not bad points. Nice little village nearby in Findern.

We have just got back from a weeks stay in this beautiful cottage. I went with my husband, eldery inlaws, one of which is not very mobile and our dog, The cottage itself is spacious and with the big sliding glass doors looking out over the beautiful gardens is light and airy. One of the bedrooms has a kingsize bed with an ensuite shower room and again sliding patio doors. The shower room was excellent for my father in law. The other is a twin bedroom. There is a seperate bathroom with bath, toilet and sink. I could not fault the cleanliness of the cottage. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need. On arrival we found a lovely welcome pack with fresh bread, milk and jams and marmalades. The lady owner came across to welcome us and to ask if we needed anything.. They live in the house behind the property but because of the layout of the cottage you are not overlooked by them. There is parking just outside the fence with a very short walk to the property. The property itself is fully enclosed and it was brilliant for our dog to wander about with any fear of him being able to get out. The cottage has a large veranda which runs the whole length of the property and this looks out over the gardens and adjourning fields. It was wonderful to sit out there. The only drawback on this was the fact that there was quite a bit of noise from the A38 which is a busy road. There is a bird table in the garden which is well used by the birds and squirrels in the garden. You can watch them from the veranda, sitting room or the bedroom. We ended up taking a trip to the garden centre down the road to stock up on bird food as it was brilliant sitting watching them. It is a short walk into the village, taking about 5 miutes and we are not quick walkers. There is a post office which sells papers and also has a good selection of food stuff, a hairdressers and tea rooms. We did not visit the tea rooms but it always had people sat outside. The cottage is in a brillant location to visit the area, with things to see and do all being within a short drive away. If you are walkers, if you turn right just outside the cottage and go up the lane there are some nice walks and you can take the path which goes alongside the canal and end up at some nice pubs and also the Marina. We did not get this far with having our in laws with us but did take the dog on some of the shorter walks, so I am not sure how long it takes to get to the pubs. We did drive to them and this only took about 10 minutes. I would definitely visit this cottage again.
