No very good accommodation very friendly owners

Only problems were it was very cold on the first night.. Could maybe do with putting heating on before guests arrive when it’s cold and the hot water was not good either. Other than that it was great, clean, friendly host and very cosy. Perfect for our family.

We use Sykes because we take our 3 cats on holiday with us.. This cottage provided us with the tranquility in its remote location, safe countryside for the cats to explore in and owners who understood our needs and accommodated us perfectly, Located between Ashbourne and Derby the cottage is an ideal base for exploring the Peak District and Staffordshire.

The cottage was a true home from home.. The owner and family was so friendly and helpful. It really is a great base for the Peak District. It has some lovely views and walks right outside your front door.

Stayed in the cottage just for a mini getaway in the middle of March.. The description did not disappoint. Directions were great and just off the A515. Location was brilliant for the local pub, local walks, a trip to Dovedale, Dimmingsdale walks and a trip into Ashbourne for tea and cake while I left hubby to watch the last day of the Six Nations Rugby!!. Cottage had everything we needed. The enclosed garden was secure to let our dog run in and out. In the evenings when the weather turned very slowly and rainy we put the log fire on and out our feet up. Thank you to Mrs Lynch for making us welcome.

Booked both adjoining cottages for a family New Year break , everything was perfect ,the area ,cottages and experience .. Cottages were really clean and welcoming ,good facilities and in great situation , although off beaten track many places were in local vicinity . The local pub ,a 10 minute walk away was definitely worth a visit ,food was excellent . Would definitely return and recommend .

Lovely little cottage and Lois the owner is very friendly and welcoming.. It is a little hard to spot the turn off as down an unlit country road - just to be aware if you are travelling in the dark.

The cottage was everything we hoped for.. It was warm and cosy with the lovely open fire which was great as it snowed. It was spotlessly clean, well equipped and all the linens and furnishings were of the best quality. The garden was secure for our dog and the views were very relaxing as was the peace and quiet.Walks were plentiful nearby and the church was very interesting. The local pub was just a short walk away. Lois was very friendly and helpful and we had everything we needed. We enjoyed it so much we have already booked for several weeks in the summer and would highly recommend this cottage to anyone for a home from home holiday in the fabulous Peak District

Wonderful cosy cottage with everything we needed for the perfect New Years Eve get away. Beams, brick fireplace & very peaceful. We spent four days enjoying lovely local walks (the Peak District is so beautiful) The Tissington Trail & the local pubs! Amazing food & friendly service at The Shire Horse, less than five minutes walk from cottage, dogs welcomed! Coach & Horses at Fenny Bentley also one of our favourites. We loved relaxing in front of the open fire & so did our Jack Russell & Labrador! Lovely, friendly owner lives next door in a stunning farm house & is on hand if you need anything & was very welcoming. We very much appreciated the Happy New Year card & bottle of Prosecco awaiting us on our arrival, very thoughtful touches. The cottage was beautifully decorated with Christmas decorations, there was a full scuttle of coal & basket of logs, there was even milk in the fridge for us. Cottage is situated on a beautiful farm with plenty of parking right next to the door. Very impressed indeed & thoroughly enjoyed our stay, can highly recommend.

Church Farm Cottage is a delightful cottage in an ideal location if you want peace and yet not far from the local attractions. The cottage is very cosy with an open fire to make the evenings even more so. The facilities in the cottage are excellent throughout. The owners live in the farm house and can't do enough for you and only appear if you need something. Our two dogs were made very welcome as well. We were minutes from Ashbourne for shops as the village itself consists of a handful of houses. The pub is a 5 minute walk and serves very good food with a friendly atmosphere. All in all a great place to stay.

A delightful, cosy cottage ideal for a peaceful break. Our dogs were made to feel very welcome. Situated on a farm, there were lots of places to walk and a very good pub serving excellent food was within walking distance. The addition of coal and other fire making materials made the cottage warm and cosy once the night set in. The Dales are only a short drive away along with quaint market towns that have quirky shops and lots of cafes.

August 2011
The friendly cottage owners were very wiling to help suggest where best to walk the dog and which pubs to visit locally. It was nice that the cottage wasn't over fussy in terms of décor and ornaments as they sometimes can be. The location was relaxing and was an ideal cottage for the dog, who thoroughly enjoyed himself, as did we. The local pub was excellent.
