We recently stayed as a group of 10 (6 adults and 4 children) The cottage itself is very large and spacious and is located in a very good area, it's about a 10 minute walk straight into the centre and is in a very quiet area. Overall we did have a lovely holiday, however I do think the cottage itself needs an upgrade and a good clean. On the advert is says that it has BBQ facilities, this isn't true, it has a very small and dirty BBQ that you could probably fit 2 burgers on, so I feel this should be removed or a new one put in place to cater for the large group bookings. There was one bed upstairs that we were unable to use leaving 2 adults on the sofa downstairs for the reminder 6 nights, so this could do with replacing. The bottom oven doesn't work, meaning we couldn't cook as planned. The outside area has so much potential but unfortunately hasn't been cleaned in quite some time, the slabs were covered in dirt and the chairs and tables hadn't been cleaned and also had no cushions on the wicker chairs meaning they were very uncomfortable and not fit for use. I think a little welcome pack from owners would be really good to have on arrival with some information about the area and the cottage itself. If all these things got addressed then I would definitely recommend to friends and family, however if not I'm afraid I'd say to look elsewhere.

During a week prior to the coronovirus lockdown we were very impressed and grateful to have liquid soap everywhere plus anti bacterial spray for the kitchen and a generous number of already scarce toilet rolls.. The cottage was immaculate and very comfortable, there were lovely flowers on the dining table and in the kitchen. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Had a lovely family holiday, good family accommodation in a good location.. Unfortunately garden area not well kept (not as the picture on website), needed tidied up, weeds dealt with & hedge trimmed.

Cottage is very clean and well equipped. It's a 15 minute walk from Whitby and set in a quiet area. The enclosed garden is good but could do with being a little more secure to stop small dogs from getting out through the gaps in the gate. We stayed as a group of 4 couples, a baby and 2 small dogs and everyone had enough space to relax.

A brilliant location, really was only a short walk into the centre of Whitby (although this involves a very steep hill).. Plenty of space and a really quiet location as we couldn’t hear the road at all. The main road is very busy though and could be difficult to cross. I would recommend to others.

Having stayed at a number of Sykes Cottages Airy Hill Farm Cottage was disappointing.. Since the photographs used to advertise the accommodation were taken several years ago the garden has become some what overgrown being surrounded with a fifteen foot hedge in need of trimming/cutting. Hidden among the shrubs was a built in barbecue and the outside area was in need of a good tidy up. Inside the accommodation was fine but lacked the quality and finishing touches we have become to expect from a Sykes Cottage property. Being close to the centre of Whitby was a bonus and that added to fine weather made for a pleasant break.

We have a wonderful time at Airy Hill Cottage.. The cottage was spacious enough for two families, having the two separate lounge areas. Also the conservatory was a bonus where we enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and reading etc. The cottage was well equipped with everything we could possibly need and more. We were all thoroughly pleased with the accommodation and we would highly recommend this to others. We would also consider booking this cottage again at some time in the future. Our English Springer Spaniel, Molly, had a wonderful time playing ball in the garden area and spent most of her days out there waiting for each one of us to play ball with her. The views were lovely from our bedroom (the bedroom with en-suite). The only thing I would say is that the en-suite door needs attention as when I opened the window in the en-suite, the door slammed and I was locked in as the door catch doesn't completely open when you pull the handle down. Fortunately my daughter was in the bedroom and was able to let me out. Also the step from the lounge by the utility area into the kitchen; we took it in turns to forget it was there and kept falling down it; but these are only minor things that require a bit of attention. The cottage is absolutely fantastic and we all had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday there (seven of us in total and the dog). The Hodgkinson Family Birmingham

Well stocked and clean easy to reach centre of Whitby.. ..garden a plus ...didn't hear any noise from school caravans you didn't notice very quiet .The only vault was the step leading from kitchen to little lounge....it really needs something we tripped up endless times even though we knew it was there......it needs a warning strip.

What a great place to stay for a big group. The cottage is spacious, well equipped and the location is great for a family. The second sitting room is fantastic for the kids (and men!) diverting any clash of demands on the tv. The big table in the conservatory allowed us all to eat together as a group. We stayed during the Easter holidays so had no issues with the school next door. The cottage has access to great walks for the dogs and kids and provides a great base for many other attractions. Would definitely recommend this cottage for a large group.

Booked the 9 bed farm cottage for a group of friends while others in the party had their own mobile home in adjacent caravan site. The property was very spacious , comfortable, clean and well equipped. Some milk, tea & coffee left for us on arrival. (Strange though, no soap in bathrooms). The location was very good, on hill overlooking the town, just off the A171 near the new road bridge, and about 5 minutes walk into the centre. Little longer back, due to short but steep paved footpath. Ample parking. The cottage, along with some smaller units, is adjacent to Caedmon College - no problem with noise during school holidays but in term time might be different during the school day. Very easy to collect key from Garden Centre on approach to town. Master bedroom with en-suite was huge. It also had a cot and would still have had space for another double bed. Other rooms smaller with hanging space at a premium in some of them. Two very comfortable lounges, with TV, large kitchen diner, conservatory with large dining table and garden chairs and tables outside.

Outstanding accommodation with excellent and stylish furnishings. The next time I stay in Whitby will be in direct relation to availability of the Kingfisher or the associated cottages. One of the few times I have spent as much time in the accommodation as out and about due to the outstanding quality and home from home feeling.

We liked the location of the cottage, there were 2 sitting room areas which meant that our 4 year old granddaughter could watch Peppa Pig dvds without all the adults having to watch it! We liked the big family sized table in the conservatory which meant we could eat together. We liked having 3 toilets and lots of fridge and freezer space. We liked the garden and the outdoor space

The property was perfect for our large party including 3 children and 2 babies. The bedrooms and bathrooms were all a good a size with plenty of towels for everyone. The large farmhouse kitchen table was a bonus in the conservatory and could seat us all comfortably. The cottage is in a brilliant location, only a 15 min walk into the centre of Whitby. There was quite a slope to walk down come back up but this wasn't a problem, even with our convoy of prams!
