Area
It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House.

Region
The ultimate in “year-round” appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.

Amenities
Gas central heating. Electric oven and gas hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, Smart TV with Freeview, WiFi. Off road parking for 1 car, plus roadside parking on local streets available on a first come, first served basis. Bed linen and towels included in the rent. Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shop and pub 4 mins walk. Note: The property is accessed via an external staircase. Very comfortable, quiet and excellent location as Buxton amenities all in walking distance.. Modern decor and furniture. Very clean and helpful to have tea/coffee etc already there. Contact very helpful in repairing some of kitchen lights, they were fixed within 24 hours of repotting. Would stay again on another trip to Buxton. Thank you also for wine and chocolates on arrival.

This basement apartment was really nice. There was lots of space and natural light which can be a problem in some basements. The decor was neutral with some touches of colour. All the furniture were sets and as was the kitchen. My girlfriend love the dishwasher!! There was a very calm homely vibe to the place. With just 2 of us we had loads of space to put our clothes and things. We did meals there and eating at a table was really nice. The area is central to shops and restaurants and more Buxton has to offer. We had a lovely day out in Bakewell on a day out. We didn't drive down and the bus wasn't far to walk to. for us this was our 3rd anniversary and was exactly what i wanted clean room home from home. Was good value also.

What a perfect position in Buxton, so close to all the amenities but so quiet.. The apartment is spacious, clean, comfortable and everything you require for a self catering holiday is there. Tea coffee sugar, milk for a cuppa when you arrive, and a couple of bottles of wine and local chocolates welcome you in. I would recommend a day cycling on the Monsal trail to Bakewell, especially on a Monday which is Bakewell market day, a brilliant day out.Lots of walks within easy reach either by car or an excellent bus service. Entertainment at night is plentiful in Buxton, with the beautiful Opera House offering varied acts, and bands can be found in one of the many pubs most nights of the week. The Pavillion and gardens are superb for all the family. Buxton is truly a gem and No 1 Southgate also.

We have rented places in Buxton several times before, we enjoy visiting the area.. The flat was in a very good position to access all of the facilities the town has to offer. The rooms were spacious and overall the flat was very clean. Two bottles of wine, red & white, chocolates as well as tea, coffee and milk were provided which was very much appreciated. The kitchen and bathroom were very nice, beds comfortable, linens god quality. The only one minor issue was the lack of some kitchen items, small glasses and bowls. A place we would be happy to visit again.

The property is very comfortable and clean with high quality furnishings making our stay perfect.. It has a great location in the centre of Buxton and provides good access to The Peak District. It was lovely that the owners left us some wine and handmade chocolates to welcome us at the house. We would certainly consider staying here again and will be recommending to our friends and family. Thank-you!

We were in another lovely Sykes apartment in Buxton when the boiler broke down, leaving us without central heating (although there was a woodburner) and without hot water - in January! Sykes contacted the owner of 1 Southgate, who let us transfer there at no extra cost (although it was bigger) and who let us stay an extra day. Another lovely Sykes apartment, great (very central but quiet) location to ditch the car and walk or use bus or train everywhere. Very well-equipped - although a DVD/CD player would have been welcome (admittedly this is probably an old-fashioned request in these days of streaming and mp3s). Have already booked 1 Southgate for return in July.

The holiday home is in a great location minutes from everything you need.. The apartment had everything you need to make a relaxing holiday with a washing machine and dishwasher and washing powder and cleaning products were all supplied which makes a nice change, and even more than one roll of loo paper! Soap in kitchen and bathroom was great too as was the welcome grocery pack. The apartment was nice and spacious with plenty of storage and all the furniture was comfortable to sit on too. Overall really impressed and enjoyed our weeks stay in Buxton. As mentioned in the particulars the property is accessed via steps and you need to take care in the wet weather and I would extend a warning to autumn visitors to take care with the wet leaves

Excellent location, a short walk into town and surrounding attractions. The apartment was family friendly, spacious and exceptionally clean. It had everything we needed and we enjoyed relaxing here in between visiting surrounding cities. If visiting this part of the country again would stay here.

I stayed here my daughter and some friends for a few days. The flat was perfect for us. It is decorated to a high standard and was very clean and extremely well equipped for guests in a most thoughtful way. All the furniture looked brand new and was high quality Cotswolds oak. There is also a thermostat so guests can set the temperature to suit themselves. The wifi is excellent and easy to connect to. The flat itself is really quiet. The location is a short walk from the centre of Buxton, and it has off road parking. It is situated to be a great base to explore the Surrounding area. If we ever return to the Peak District, we know where we will stay! Would highly recommend to family and friends.

The apartment was superb.. Everything we needed for a short break was provided including some complimentary wine and chocolates. The photos on the website do not do the apartment justice, it was much nicer than we expected. Brilliant location, overall we had a lovely weekend.
