The owners went out of their way to ensure our stay was enjoyable; checking everything was ok, supplying wood/coal for a night and leaving coffee/tea and welsh cakes for our arrival.. The rooms were very clean and the kitchen had everything we needed. The cottage was on the cool side as rooms only heated by storage heaters but the open fire in the living room meant evenings were very comfortable and the childrens' loft bedroom was also warm. The owners offered us portable electric heaters too.The cottage is perfect for a short stay in both location and facilities.

Stayed here recently, found the owners very friendly and helpful, the cottage itself was clean but not spotless, if there are 5 of you in my opinion I think it's too small, all the equipment is there in the cottage if needed, the garden is not completely fenced off so you cannot let your dog run freely, the views are beautiful, but the best thing for us was that there was no phone signal, so no one could contact us! It was a nice short break would recommend for a couple and you do need a car to get around, the nearest shop and pub is down a steep hill about a mile away.

Unfortunately there was used sanitary products in the bin on arrival.. also used tissues in bedroom bin. be careful as on website it States bedroom one has 1 X double bed and 1 X sofa bed. bedroom two has 1 X double bed and one sofa bed. this is not right as not enough room for a sofa bed in the bedrooms. hardly room to walk around the beds. Freeview does not work even though advertised. Some of the heaters don't work.

This cottage is in a superb location for mountain bikes as it’s so close to the trail, Tank enjoyed his stay although he did manage to get under the garden gate (being a JRT) and scampered off to the next house on a little adventure! Owners were able very welcoming and it was lovely to be created by Spot when we arrived :).

Little more accurate detail of accommodation, ie fire was not log burner , it was electric.. Bedroom upstairs was very difficult to access due to stairs being difficult to climb .

September 2018
The cottage was advertised as having a real open fire, it was an electric blown air fake log burner.. The mattress in the single bed in the ground floor and the double upstairs are just awful, the springs dug in your back when you laid on it. The toilet was really dirty round the seat. The storage heaters in the bathroom lounge and dining room did not work. We had to stay in another cottage on the first night as a fuse blew in our cottage. The owners did not know what to do, they brought us no candles or torches and eventually at midnight we went into an empty cottage they had. It had not been cleaned from the previous people and we had to take all our bedding off the cottage we were in and make the beds ourselves. The settee in that cottage had a section on the seat about 30cm square that had been patched up with black tape. We would not return as it was do below the standard that would be delivered. And would not book through Sykes as the description was not accurate. Very disappointing as we have not stayed in a cottage for many years and it was a present for my husbsnds mums 70th.

Henrhiw Bach was all we expected and more! The careful modernization of this old cottage retained it's character while making it comfortable with all the usual amenities. Dai and Dilys Roberts were warm and friendly, welcoming us like family. The views from the private garden were spectacular and the evening walk to The Eagles pub was delightful with wild blackberries to pick on the way. The villagers were kind and friendly. Henrhiw Bach felt like coming home. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful experience in rural Wales.

There was no open fire as in the description above (was an electric fire with only one bar working) and not all the storage heaters were in working order..

Having read reviews raving about the cottage we decided to book , however we were quite dissapointed with our choice ... The cottage was a bit dirty and although i don't mind sharing my holiday with spiders occasionally as this is expected in cottages , there seemed to be webs hanging everywhere and the spiders obviously had taken over , dust was also a feature ,therefore i think it was given a quick once over before we got there. The bed / snug under the stairs was dreadfully uncomfortable and my mum had to spend the rest of the week on the sofa , she also found ants on the bedsheets of this snug and wasn't prepared to spend the night with them. The grill in the kitchen was broke and so was the extractor fan so made cooking in such a small area a little smoky/steamy to say the least. Need to invest in a decent shower curtain or screen as water leaks onto the floor and it then becomes a slippery hazard , as my mum , who is 67 found this out . The beds are not comfortable at all , i think the mattress is ready for a change ! Even though we definitely did not need a fire it was a good job as we were promised a open wood fire but had an ugly electric one placed in front of it , so it would have been pretty grim if it had have been cold. The area itself is lovely with stunning views but the garden is not secure and we couldn't let our pooch run freely , there are 4/5 other dogs living at the owners property down the drive and they come freely into the garden , now they aren't unfriendly dogs and i am an animal lover , but my dog is an emotional wreck having been abused and isn't use to dogs giving so much attention so this was awkward . The cottage just needs a more attention to detail and have a good dust down, i think the owners need help as they have more cottages and maybe in busy periods they need a hand. Its a pity , as it could be lovely. If guests are paying the money they expect certain standards , unfortunately we left early as my mum was starting to suffer. It should say it sleeps four , not five and maybe re do this online.

Beautiful cosy cottage will all conveniences and lovely gardens. The cottage is 3 stars for the quality of accommodation, in my opinion, not 4(furniture, conveniences). It is a very small cottage, lovely for a couple and maybe for 2 kids, but definitely not for 5 adults. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We had a great time. Stunning location.

Henrhiw Bach was in the perfect location to escape from the hustle and bustle of city/work life. The views from the cottage are stunning and we were lucky enough to have a clear night on our final evening and were treated to a display of shooting stars and a glimpse at the Milky Way. The cottage had two double bedrooms plus an extra single in a lovely snug. The kitchen was kitted out with everything you could need on a break away and we were able to prepare some hearty home cooked meals to enjoy after a day of walking. We enjoyed our cosy evenings in front of the fire - as did our dog who was made as welcome as we were.

The cottage was small, cosy and nice warm. Nicely out of the way and next to some very good local walks which are suitable for new and experienced walkers. It is well placed to enable you to get to some of the local attractions which we did go and visit. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the cottage and the area and would go back to the same place again.
