You'll find a highly rated Brazilian-Portuguese fish restaurant just downstairs, the gothic church ruins of Convento do Carmo one minute from your front door and a twelve-minute walk to the curated Time Out Market. So pack your most comfortable trainers and prepare to hike up and down some hills as you get to know the best of this charismatic city.

*You'll have to take the stairs to the second floor, as there's no lift
*There are three bathrooms, but one is really only a toilet and a sink, while another is an ensuite, which means that as many as six people will have to share one shower
*The atmospheric square below the flat can get quite busy, so expect to hear some noise in the rooms overlooking it
*Check-in between 10pm-8am is subject to a €25 surcharge
*The Wi-Fi can be temperamental
