Goathland Cottage is a charming, terraced cottage, 0.5 miles from Ruswarp and just under 2 miles from Whitby. There are three bedrooms, each with country views, sleeping five people in total. There's also a bathroom and an open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area. Outside, there is a small, shared patio area with a barbecue and ample off road parking. Approached by a fairly steep road of approximately 600 yards, Goathland Cottage sits in a charming country location and offers a good base for touring the coast and countryside of beautiful North Yorkshire.Note: No hen, stag or similar parties

Accomodation Details
Three bedrooms: 1 x double, 1 x twin, 1 x single. Bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. Open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area with gas fire.

Area
Situated just 1.5 miles inland from Whitby, the small village of Ruswarp lies on the River Esk, with old stone cottages lining the main street. Ruswap has excellent amenities, including a local pub with hand-pulled real ales, a village shop and a renowned local butcher. The Esk Valley Walk runs through the village, and it is an easy 25 minute walk to the centre of Whitby. Ruswarp has a regular bus service, and the single track railway has regular steam trains running through!

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

We stayed at Goathland Cottage for a week in June . It is a beautiful property situated in a peaceful elevated position with stunning views within 10 minutes drive of Whitby . If you could envisage a quaint and homely cottage this would be it . It is very clean , well equipped and has lovely touches throughout plus a nice seating and patio area at the back . We found Jenny , the owner , very easy to communicate with via Email and she was most accommodating and helpful . We would recommend this property to anyone wishing to have a relaxing stay in this beautiful part of the country .

Another week at the gorgeous Goathland Cottage.. Idillic setting and close to everything you could possibly want to see and do. Extra measures in place due to the current climate but everything still spot on.

This was hands down one of the best holidays I’ve been on with my family, the cottage was phenomenal, it had everything and more you could imagine inside facilities wise, lovely spacious rooms upstairs and downstairs, was amazing wake up to the sound of steam engines going past, being able to view the abbey from the car parking area, and even the facilities outside football nets, slides, and it was really close to other amenities, we mostly did Grosmont Station, Whitby and Scarborough and you can to all them in under 30 mins! I could go on for days, it was just an unbelievably fantastic place to stay and I can’t wait to book it again for next year!!!

This was one of our best holidays to date. The cottage was 10/10 it has everything you need inside. The location is supereb and theres a nice garden to with awesome views.. we will definitely be coming back to stay here

We have been here before and was exactly as we remembered it.. Had a new smart tv installed while we were there,which was a great improvement.It is a very homely warm cottage with plenty to do in and around.Only one negative is the mattresses are getting tired,apart from that a great break for us.

The cottage was well equipped and comfortable except that the beds were not to the standard one would expect.. The double was the most comfortable with two of the singles very average and one single in urgent need of a replacement mattress. The location of the cottage is up a very steep track that older people could possibly negotiate so a car has to be used at all times to leave the cottage. This should be made clear in the advert. This said, we did enjoy the holiday immensely but would not visit this site again due to its hill top location.

Goathland Cottage is ideally situated for visiting Whitby and the North Yorkshire coast.. Ten minutes drive from Whitby and surrounded by beautiful countryside. The cottage was immaculate in every sense when we arrived. Spotlessly clean and contained everything we needed for our stay. Hats off to the owners - they have spared no expense in the provision of cutlery, crockery, bed linen, towels, plus a well furnished property. Highly recommended and we have no hesitation in giving the property a five star rating. Ample parking space and a very quiet location (out of school holidays !!) AbsoluteIy no complaints from us - can say no more than we'll be back again !!

The cottage was magnificent in every respect.. Usually, holiday lets are furnished and equipped as cheaply as possible: NOT THIS ONE. It really is a home from home experience. From the totally equipped kitchen to the great power shower everything was good.Even the bath and hand towels were of the best quality. 'Can't fault it.

The overall standard of comfort, at the end of each day, it was a pleasure to come back to the cottage. In particular, the bed was very comfortable so we woke up feeling well rested and refreshed every day. The kitchen had everything you could need. The living area was cosy and comfortable.

The cottage is well laid out, cosy and has a well equipped kitchen. It is in a great location, close to Whitby and the North York Moors national park, so plenty of walks nearby. It is located at the top of a hill so there are some stunning views from the windows.

What a good find,nice and cosy inside with good views.Not deterd by the rain, as to high to get worried.Had a good time travelling around various towns and villages.A must for the famous whitby fish & chips(see my other reviews).One slight problem was the toilet is not man friendly,so be warned.Good comfortable beds, very quite and peacefull.Would recommend for all types of travellers.

Lovely rural cottage in a fantastic location with sweeping views in all directions towards the sea and the North York moors. A great base for exploring the area. There was plenty to do on the doorstep and a short drive away to many places of interest.
