Thank you for a nice week at the cottage we had a FAB time The cottage had everything we needed and more we ate at the pub next door and would recommend it The owners of the cottage showed us round, offered advice and recommendations nearby, and the staff in the pub were really nice and welcoming I would stay again

Great little property to use as a base and explore the area - Humphrey head is a lovely walk just down the road.. Owners were fantastic and the local pub food very very good. Highly recommend this cottage the only thing that would’ve made it better would’ve been if one of the beds had been 2 singles.

Not only was the cottage immaculately clean it was extremely well equipped and very warm and cosy.. The owners Charlotte and Gavin made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. They also own the pub next door, The Pheasant, which serves fabulous food. All the friendly staff and customers embraced us as though we had been locals for years. All-in-all we can't praise the cottage and the owners enough and will certainly be going back - fantastic!

The cottage itself was great except that the outside space was not nearly as big as depicted on the site.. The owners and staff in the Pheasant were friendly and welcoming and the food was excellent, so good that we ate there 5 out of our 7 night stay. The only downside was that there was nowhere close by the cottage to allow our 2 dogs to run free, however they were quite content to relax with us in the cottage on the (many) wet days.

The cottage was very comfortable with nice large rooms.. The parking might be a concern for some, having to reverse into the drive and maneuver close to wall/garage. The bottle of wine on arrival was a nice touch. The pub next door but one is very nice and the meals are very well portioned. The cottage is ideally situated for the southern part of the lakes. we enjoyed our stay and would recommend without hesitation.

The cottage as fittings to a high spec.. My Wife and Daughter loved the Jacuzzi bath, and the shower is hot and powerful. There are PS3 games to keep the kids happy and books and games to keep you going if you don't fancy going out.One major plus is the pub next door with friendly locals and good food plus a quiz on Thursday night.

We stayed at Fernleigh Cottage for 4 nights arriving on a Monday (check in 3pm onwards) leaving on a Friday (by 10am) We picked up the keys at the Pheasant Inn & were shown round by the owner. A very clean, nicely decorated and fully equipped cottage. The kitchen is fully equipped, including iron & board, a hoover. Fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, oven & hob as well as other smaller appliances. Basically the kitchen had everything in it you would find at home (except food & drink). The lounge has 2 two-seater sofa's & footstool, side tables, TV, playstation 3, freeview box & a log wood burner. WiFi available throughout house. There is a small conservatory with round table & four chairs. A very small patio with round table & 4 chairs, also 2 other garden chairs. On the 1st floor 2 good size bedrooms with double beds. A small cupboard in the wall with hanging space, a vanity table & chair(no mirror), 2 beside tables with drawers in one room. A small 3/4 tall cupboard with hanging space, 2 beside tables with drawers. A TV in each bedroom. A good size bathroom with walk in shower and a seperate jacuzzi bath. Bath towels provided. We parked (one)car outside the back gate. The owners have a nice pub next door, with a nice outdoor seating area. We were left a note of welcome & bottle of wine. There is a file filled with info on everything about cottage, pub (pub menus) & things to do all round Cumbria. 1st & 2nd night we had meals from the pub which we got as take out & ate in the cottage. We also ate in the pub. There's a Tesco & a Co op (convenience store) 6 mins away by car. Grange over Sands promenade is 5 mins away by car, pay to park. This is a fantastic cottage, very clean, well maintained, well run. We were very impressed with the cottage. Would definitely recommend.

On arrival the owner of the property showed us around and mentioned about the next door neighbour complainig about parking and dogs barking.. The following evening the said neighbour asked me to keep my dogs quite she had cats. i felt upset and horrified as this cottage is advertised pet friendly . We have stayed in many cottages and never been made to feel like we were treading on egg shells . Sherry an Angel only make a noise when being fed or distressed . As we couldn't relax and do normal activities with the dogs in case of any noise we cut our holiday short. We feel other dog owners need to be aware of this and can not recommend this cottage as dog friendly.

My husband and I stayed at Fernleigh cottage for 4 nights with our Staffordshire bull terrier, Bleu. Unfortunately the owners were away while we were staying, but was shown the cottage by one of the staff at the Pheasant Inn (pub run by the owners). This is a great cottage to base your stay in the Lakes District. It is a good size and well laid out inside. The living areas are well portioned and easy to move around in. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you could need, including a dishwasher and washing machine. The bedrooms are well sized with a double bed in each of the 2 bedrooms. Each bedroom contains a TV. The bathroom is a good size with a fantastic Jacuzzi bath. Our only issues were the busy road outside the cottage which sees a lot of traffic and we were woken up a few times by the lorries passing by. The parking was not ideal, with the parking area being shared with the neighbors. Recommend that you reverse into the parking area, because there is not enough room to turn your car around in, alternatively park in the pub car park and walk around to the cottage. The last issue is that there are no shops within a short walking distance and you do need to drive out to pick anything up you might need, but this is a small thing. Overall, we would stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.

A delightful cottage, very well-equipped.. Our hosts were friendly and helpful. We can highly recommend the food in the Pheasant Inn - the mussels were the best I've ever had and the game casserole is not to be missed.

The cottage was immaculate, finished to a high standard and kitted out with everything you would need. The owners were extremely friendly and had left a bottle of wine to welcome us. The owner even popped round with some fire lighters for the log burner. The location next to the pub was an added bonus and we ate there all 3 nights. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I will definitely recommend to our friends.

It was so nice to find a beautifully decorated cottage that welcomed 2 dogs. My partner and I loved coming home from long walks in the lakes to a little bit of luxury. The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed for our stay and the lovely walk in shower and jacuzzi bath were heavenly to ease our aches and pains from long hikes! The owner was very welcoming and showed us around explaining how everything worked. Lovely, homely cottage in great location. Fully recommend.

September 2015
Beautiful cottage, everything you could need but would have welcomed a hairdryer. Very noisy as close to road with cars & tractors thundering past. There was a lane next to the cottage where we could park our car but when my sister visited on Sunday we asked, out of courtesy, if they could leave their car on the pub car park while we walked into Grange but we were refused. We ate in the pub every day including Sunday so thought this was a little unreasonable.

Well thought out with great fixtures and fittings, although off road parking is actually a short walk away in the pub car park which wasnt ideal, and the double glazing needs replacing as we were VERY close to the road and the lorries woke us up everytime they passed. Despite these small issues its a great location and the pub is outstanding and the owner is very welcoming and helpful.

The accommodation is beautiful and very comfortable (especially the beds!). A great location for travelling around the Lakes. The owners are lovely hosts, eager to make your holiday the best it could possibly be. The complimentary bottle of wine went down a treat. The Pheasant Inn serves a great choice of delicious food but it is advisable to book as it is very popular. Also tried The Royal Oak in Cartmel which was also very good. No rules and regulations for the two Jack Russells that we took with us. Will definitely return in the near future depending on the availability!

The cottage was to a very high standard including all finishings and fittings. The log burner and fire surround were a good focal point to the massive living room area. The kitchen was spacious and well appointed. The bathroom was very modern with a jacuzzi bath, walk in shower, both with l.e.d lighting and the bedrooms were both very comfortable and both with flat screen t.v. The hosts were very friendly and made us feel very much at home. The pheasant pub is a really friendly, family run pub with good beers and excellent food.
