Area Many of the homes in Snettisham, a classic Norfolk village, are constructed from the local iron-rich carr stone, giving them an appealing golden-brown hue. The locals have taken to calling them "gingerbread houses" because of this. There are convenience stores, a post office, two hotels, a cafe, and a bus stop that runs often to the nearby towns of Hunstanton (a popular seaside destination for families) and King's Lynn (a historic town). The church of St. Mary stands alone atop the hill, and its west window, with its intricate tracery flowers, is well worth a visit. The beach is only three miles away, and there is an RSPB bird sanctuary near the shore. Additionally, the historic Peddars Way public footpath passes through the neighbourhood. Located just outside of town, Park Farm is a working farm where visitors of all ages may enjoy activities like a 45-minute "deer safari" and the opportunity to feed the animals. Norfolk Lavender is England's premier lavender farm, and its plant farm, tea rooms, and gift store are conveniently located near the Royal Estate of Sandringham, which is home to the monarchy but is available to the public.
Region Picturesque rolling Fens, unspoilt beaches, and pretty waterways – East Anglia is a dream holiday destination. Norfolk offers beaches, saltmarshes and quaint villages whilst equally as charming are the coast and countryside of Suffolk.
