Holiday Rental Description
This charming cottage in Freshwater village, with shops, restaurants, tearooms, and pubs, is a real gem. From here, you can easily access Tennyson Down: head across to The Needles and Headon Warren while admiring the island's stunning coastline along the way (2.5 miles). For a day at the seaside, Totland and Colwell have sandy bays within 1.5 miles, or you can take a short drive across the island to the more traditional seaside resorts of Shanklin, Ventnor, or Sandown (all within 21 miles). Compton Bay, with its dinosaur footprints and fossils, is nearby and a must for history lovers as well as those who like to be in the water (4 miles). Nature lovers will also enjoy the variety of plants and animals at Afton Marsh, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (1.5 miles). Enter through the front gate and proceed down the pretty garden path to the front door. Upon entering, you'll find yourself in the dining room of this beautiful cottage. Make your way through to the comfortable lounge, which is ideal for snuggling up in front of the Smart TV on one of the comfortable sofas. Return to the open plan kitchen/diner, and you'll discover a well equipped space with everything you could possibly need to prepare some delicious meals for your stay, as well as a dining table with seating for four where you can sit and enjoy your meals together. Completing this floor is the bathroom with shower over the bath and WC. Climb the stairs after a long day of exploring to find two comfortable bedrooms, one of which is a double room with plenty of storage, and the other with bunk beds. There is a convenient upstairs WC with hand basin that is accessible from both bedrooms. Stepping outside, you'll discover an enclosed rear garden with a grassed area, and a patio with outdoor furniture where you can unwind and relax in the sun. This property is a must for avid birdwatchers, as the owner has crafted bird boxes and renovated the exterior eaves of the house to encourage birds to nest, which has proved especially popular with swifts. Those guests staying in June July may be in for a real treat, as they will get the chance to see and hear the swifts depart the UK for warmer climes from the garden of this great property.
