The thriving village of Yarpole nestles in beautiful Herefordshire countryside equidistant between the pretty market towns of Ludlow and Leominster. Mentioned in the Doomesday Book Yarpole boasts an award-winning village shop - the first full time shop in a church! Just a short walk from the village is Bircher Common, an area of lowland heath offering lovely views of the surrounding Marches, ideal for enjoying the peace and tranquility of the area. Close by, enjoy an afternoon visit to the Monkland Cheese Dairy, a working dairy producing and selling local, artisan cheeses, as well as offering a well-stocked shop and cafe. Leominster, dating back to the 7th century, possesses some fine examples of architecture including the Priory Church, along with a wide variety of shops, cafes, antique centres and pubs – it’s an ideal place to spend an afternoon.

The peace and quiet.. The welcome that we received from the owners was first class, then they left us alone unless we needed something. The holiday was just what we needed

Very comfortable accommodation which was well equipped.. Ideally situated in a small village with plenty of countryside around but not too far from Hereford or Ludlow.

A lovely cottage for two.. It was very clean and cosy with everything we could have needed provided by the owners. We would recommend to anybody wanting to explore the Herefordshire and Shropshire area, lots to see and do. The owners were very friendly and welcoming but not at all intrusive of your holiday. We would certainly go again in the future.

The Milking Parlour is an extremely comfortable and well equipped cottage.. We felt it was probably the best cottage we have ever stayed in, over a number of years. We had a thoroughly relaxing week in this very friendly village and would recommend The Milking Parlour without hesitation.

We have enjoyed several Sykes holidays, and this year explored a new area.. The Milking Parlour in Yarpole was a delight! Compact yet spacious, and clearly a great deal of thought went into the furnishing and decor. It was spotless throughout, and Barbara and Martin were kind enough to have a welcome pack for us on arrival. Highly recommended!

Great location in a vibrant village.. The accommodation was really comfortable so we were able to settle in very quickly. The owners were very thoughtful and had left us a gift of wine and chocolates. The coffee machine had coffee available to drink. The utensils and crockery were very good. The bedding and towels were excellent quality. The WiFi and TV all worked really well. The village shop and gallery cafe were brilliant and we were able to shop everyday there except Sunday. The cafe was outstanding for the menu but also the friendliness of the locals and voluntary staff. The church itself with its bell tower and the cemetery across the road is well worth a visit. We were able to walk to Croft Castle for a visit. We spent a very pleasant evening in The Bell for a meal and to listen to the folk musicians.

The cottage had everything anyone is likely to need, and is really close to the village pub and shop, and to some really good walks.. In particular, the Croft Estate is very close. The kitchen is well equipped, and the WiFi and heating are really effective (which was great for me as I got snowed in one of the days) A great base for exploring Herefordshire and South Shropshire.

The owners Martin & Barbara were very helpful and friendly when we arrived.. The cottage was lovely and just perfect for a relaxing break away from it all, but with every comfort. We fell in love with the village, the shop inside the church, and the Bell pub a few yards away. And the weather was great too!
