The village of Wilton rests in South Herefordshire and is within easy reach of the market town of Ross-on-Wye. Henry I built up three manors in the area, one of them being the manor of Wilton. Visit Wilton House to explore the beautiful interior and stroll around the tranquil gardens. The 12th century remains of Wilton Castle is also worth a visit. The village hosts convenience stores, pubs and is close to superb golf courses. The picturesque town of Ross-on Wye is nearby with a plethora of amenities.

This was one of the most quaint, chocolate box cottages I've ever stayed in. After reading the one poor review from two years ago, I was a little apprehensive but i needn't have worried. The owner was so kind & helpful, the cottage is beautiful, immaculately clean, beautifully decorated with a secure garden for the pooches! Location is very quiet, close to lovely river walks and walking distance to the beautiful market town of Ross-on-Wye. The Whole stay was perfect. Genuinely no idea how this cottage could be criticized by anyone. no pleasing some people I guess! We will be back most definitely.

Small cottage for 2, we were comfortable and it was ideal for out small dog with a secure garden at the back, owners were very responsive to a minor issue we had and sorted it out straight away. There was a nice welcome pack on arrival. The cottage is close to a busy road but there’s no noise once you’re at the property. There’s a pub nearby and a short riverside walk into Ross on wye ( about 10-15 mins). The cottage is perfectly situated to explore the area. We didn't have any problems parking the car and reversing out up the lane using our cameras, we enjoyed our holiday here.

Great comms from Sarah the host before arriving, emails and texts with info and even asking for any dietary requirements for our welcome pack which was a lovely selection of goodies. Apart from our clothes and food/ drinks the cottage had everything needed, a real home from home feel too. It’s a good base to go out exploring the local area, tourist spots, Forest of Dean and we went to Hereford city, only took around half an hours drive. The White Lion is a two minute walk and I’d recommend to go there. Ross is a fifteen minute walk away. *Contrary to a previous post I’d read and the photos on here, there is a banister on the wall now to help with the internal stairs. Thanks again to Sarah for a lovely stay.

We booked this cottage in advance. The payment was taken and confirmation emails received. On arrival we let ourselves in and was met with a acrid smell of heating oil. After opening doors and windows it became clear that the cottage was not prepped and in a dirty state. We rang owners who first tried to blame the booking agent, saying there was no booking. Then realising it was there fault and intact they had missed the booking. They did apologise and said if we go away for 3-4 hours they will come and clean cottage. We advised the smell will not dissappear in a few hours. They offered to put us up in a hotel and pay for a meal. We advised as we have 2 dogs a stay in a hotel is not possible. We then decided it was best to cancel the booking and we had to return home. We requested compensation for the wasted journey and the spoilt we but this was rudelt rejected. Please also be aware the cottage is close to river and pub but also very close to a very busy road junction. Not a very peaceful setting.
