We have just come back from a really lovely week with family at Lilliput cottage Melbourne York. It was modern spacious and very home from home. The owners were great, friendly and knowledgeable about the area and on hand if we needed them.(We didn't as everything was spot on). Our little Westie loved it there and the owner made a fuss of him whenever he seen him. We had 2 fab walk in showers and a fully fitted kitchen with everything you could possibly need. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Thanks again Sharon Chris and Barney. xx

What a lovely stay for my family.. We took two under 6 and our dog. The house was absolutely spotless and very well finished every where. It was very specious and had everything you could wish for. The owners were super friendly and helpful if we needed it. This is a great base to visit many local areas. It would also be suitable as a cozy stay if you do not want to move too far. We would absolutely stay again. Thank you

This is the best self catering accommodation we have ever used! The lounge is roomy and well furnished. The kitchen is exceptionally appointed and well planned. The beds are very comfortable. Both bathrooms are finished to a high standard. For the technical minded the WiFi is up to 4.2 megabytes per second! They also have chrome cast on the tv. We brought a Amazon fire stick to watch through Netflix, amazon prime and Disney plus. The owners Graham and Erica are lovely people. They aren’t far should you need anything but you also have lots of privacy. Space for two cars which we had with us. Stunning walks along Pocklington canal. We hope to return here soon.

Great Stay .... Great Stay House is very comfortable Very good hot shower, all rooms very spacious Area is very nice pub with good food in the village One small remark House is not easy to find a sign with properties name on main road would really help

The cottage was very well equipped, providing everything we needed.. The lounge seemed to need air conditioning - however, we were there at the warmest time of the year, so possibly may not be a problem normally. The area was lovely with loads of places to visit. The hosts were welcoming, without being obtrusive. We would definitely recommend this property to others.

Internally the cottage is very attractive, spacious, well equipped and comfortable with three major problems.. The lounge a beautiful double height room was uncomfortably hot in warm weather and the fans supplied although moving the air around cannot cope, it needs a/c. The rest of the house was fine. The wifi is very poor, the signal continually dropping on all devices The owner is aware of these issues It s also a pity that the entrance to and outside of the property is so scruffy and unwelcoming, a contrast to the inside and to the rest of the village

Lovely warm cottage.. Spotlessly clean. Two excellent wet rooms, the best we have ever seen in a Sykes cottage. Well equipped spacious kitchen. Easy access to local amenities. Shop, Post Office and Pub within 1 mile. 8 miles to Grimstone Bar Park and Ride for Bus Service into York. Buses leave every 11 minutes for a quick 2 mile journey direct into York centre.

The cottage itself is of a good standard although the outside needs cleaning (windows, doors and woodwork).. Inside the cottage is ideal and very comfortable although the bedroom curtains could do with being a little heavier to darken the rooms in the early morning. The "lawn" and patio are not really attractive to use, in need of some TLC and a little bit of seclusion. My wife spent an hour cleaning the patio furniture before we could use it. Mr Rollason did purchase a parasol for the small table at our request and both of our hosts were very friendly and attentive at all times. There is a poultry farm right next door and at times there was quite a bit of background noise from process machinery and also from heavy lorries, even late at night. The location is great for visiting the area round York and there are several attractive little villages and towns around within a short drive.

Our second time at Lillieput everything excellent as previously.. Graham and Erica welcoming hosts. We only needed to contact them about broadband tripping, resolved in minutes! This the perfect place for us to holiday. We hope to return later this year and possibly for two weeks next year. Melbourne is a quiet village with pub and local shop it is only a few miles from Pocklington and other retail outlets are available. Nice walks nearby and only 9 or so miles to the Grimston Bar Park&Ride. The place is spotless, all the facilities you might need and apart from go to come back from work almost traffic free. Go there you will love it! When I get the time I will place a review on Trip Advisor.

We had a lovely week staying at Lilliput Lodge - home from home. We were greeted by the owner on arrival who showed us around the property. We were welcomed with a bottle of milk in the fridge, tea, coffee and sugar. He was very knowledgable about the local area and facilities - he told us about the local pub, the nearby Pocklington Canal, walks along the canal and directions to get to it. The property itself has everything you could possibly need, and was spotlessly clean. One double bedroom upstairs with a wet/shower room and a twin bedroom on the ground floor also with an adjacent wet/shower room. These wet rooms were amazing with underfloor heating and very spacious shower spaces. The kitchen is well equipped with fridge/freezer, double oven, hob, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher. There is even a food processor. The spacious lounge area with good seating, TV and DVD player is a real sun trap, the fans provided by the owner were much appreciated. It also has WiFi Internet. The owner had also provided a selection of DVD's, books, board games, jigsaw's and up to date leaflets and booklets on the local area and places to visit. The property is in a good location for Holiday makers. The Melbourne Arms is a 20min walk away and serves excellent food and is highly recommended, pre book for Sunday Lunch as it is very popular with the locals. A mobile Fish and Chip van parks at the Village Hall on a Thursday evening and serves good quality fresh fish and chips. Pocklington Canal is pleasant to walk along. The York Maze and Yorkshire Air Museum are a short distance up the road. York is a must to visit, use Grimston Bar Park and Ride for convenience. Highly recommended and one of the best properties we have stayed in.

The cottage was very comfortable and was very well equipped.. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful but never intrusive. it is a good area for walking and sightseeing and we found several good, dog friendly pubs which served good food. Altogether an enjoyable holiday.

The cottage was very clean and was equipped with everything you might want.. It is very comfortable which made settling in easy. It is set in a pretty village near to the canal which makes a lovely walk. It is close to many of Yorkshire's scenic delights. The owners are very friendly and have 3 beautiful horses and a very friendly labrador. They are on hand if you need anything. There is early morning traffic on the village road but that was not of concern. The only downside was that the garden is not enclosed. Having a dog meant we were on constant alert to prevent her from straying around the small holding. Maybe consider gates? Overall the cottage was an excellent cottage holiday. We'd recommend.

I noticed the heading said Melbourne, Derbyshire although the photo is of Lillieput Lodge Melbourne in the East Riding of Yorkshire. A warm welcome from the owners. A very comfortable stay and everything we needed for a great Christmas. Lovely and quiet and in the countryside. I'm afraid we can't comment on any local sightseeing as it was something of a very wet end to the year so we just stayed inside and kept nice and dry and warm.

We stayed at Liiiput Lodge with our friend for four nights over the new year period. The cottage is immaculately presented, very spacious and spotlessly clean. There is all the equipment you could ever need and plenty of it. It's ideal for friends as it has a downstairs bedroom and a fantastic shower room which is repeated upstairs. The owners also live on site so are there to help if necessary. The Melbourne Arms in the village serves excellent food and the village shop is very handy. There are also plenty of shops and a couple of supermarkets in nearby Pocklington. We visited the coast which is about an hour away and had a good day out in Beverley. We hope to return, maybe in the springtime and bring out bikes with us at the quiet, flat roads would make for excellent cycling. Thanks Erica and Graham, we will be back.

What a lovely cottage and all utilities and amenities are fully catered for. Very clean and comfortable and such friendly and helpful owners. Two bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs with walk in showers, beautifully equipped. Fully equipped kitchen, washer, tumble dryer, oven, dishwasher and all the pans and utensils you could ever need. The only very small downside was that there was not an enclosed garden for the dog, but if well behaved will have no problems. Highly recommended and a beautiful cottage

We received a warm welcome at Lilliput cottage from the owners who live in adjacent accommodation. The house was light and airy with a comfortable sitting room/diner and a really well equipped kitchen. It has not long been built and the garden was still work in progress. There were two bathrooms with level access walk in shower, bidet, wash hand basin and lavatory. Heated towel rails were welcomed the first week as it was sunny but cold. By week 2 the weather had changed to summer and became quite hot at times. The first floor bedroom had beautiful open views of the Wolds. We enjoyed walks along the tow path of the historic Pocklington Canal - within 5 minutes walk of the house. Pocklington is a pretty market town nearby with a beautiful gardens and tea room accessible for a small entrance fee. York is not far away with Park and Ride the best option for visiting its many tourist attractions. We visited Whitby, Riveaulx, and Fountains abbeys, Harewood House - the home of the Queen's cousins, and the North York Moors. We particularly liked the peaceful countryside in which this accommodation is situated and its ease of access to York and the Wolds. We would happily return to Lilliput Lodge at some time in the future.
