I am writing this review whilst sat in this beautiful cottage on the last night of our week long stay as I wanted to do this place justice while the memories are fresh in my mind. I have to begin by stating that Fritillary Cottage was named Devon Holiday Cottage of the Year 2016 (A Fact I didn't know when I booked). After a lot of searching, I decided to book this cottage for a 7 night stay with my Wife and 19 month old son. It has been our first proper break away as a family since our son was born. Fritillary Cottage immediately jumped out to me during my search and it just felt right so I didnt hesitate in booking up. This is our first visit to Devon and it definately will not be our last. The Cottage is situated on South Worden Farm, made up of 15 acres of pasture land. The farm is just outside the village of Bradworthy. The Farm is owned and run by the most charming and welcoming couple Maggi & Charlie. What can I say about this Cottage? Well, it is clear to see that no expense has been spared in making this Cottage comfortable, cosy, warm and simply a place to retreat. It is fully equipped with all the Mod Cons one would want especially with a toddler. Fully equipped modern fitted kitchen, with Washing Machine, Dishwasher, Electric Hob and Oven, Microwave along with all Pots, Pans, Cutlery, Knives etc. (I will be investing in Judge saucepans when I go home, they are fantastic and brilliant quality. At this point I have to say that everything in the Cottage has been equipped for disabled accessability too such as the kitchen sink worktop & Hob can be lowered for wheelchair users, sliding door access to rooms and walk in shower. The Lounge is spacy with a comfy sofa, chair and footstool, Smart TV & DVD player, Ipod docking station for music and Wifi (which works absolutely fine). The Bedroom has a Large double bed (which is big enough to sleep 2 adults & a 19 month child), plenty of wardrobe space for clothes etc. The Bathroom is a superb wetroom style walk in shower which is fantastic and very refreshing after a long day out in Devon. The views from the Cottage are wonderful and so relaxing. Feel free to ask Maggi & Charlie for a tour of the Farm, they will be happy to show you around if they are not busy, the Farm has Pigs, Sheep, Lambs, Geese and Hens residing. One thing I have to recommend, buy some of the Farm's Pork Sausages & Gammon Steaks, they are the best we have ever tasted. On days out, we would recommend a drive to Lynmouth, its a beautiful coastal town, about an hour and a half drive but well worth visiting. There are plenty of beaches within about 30-45 mins driving distance, we visited Bude and it was worth it. For food shopping, there is a Waitrose and a Morrisons both within about 25-30 min drive away to stock up the kitchen, and for any emergencies Bradworthy does have a couple of convenience stores and a Butchers. If you like steak, try the Fillets from the local Butcher. In summary, the biggest endorsement I can give Fritillary Cottage is that my Wife and I can't wait to come back again and we are already discussing when we want to re-book. If relaxation, comfort, peace and fresh air and countryside are what you are looking for in a break away, this place ticks all the boxes and will not disappoint.
