Area The pretty Peak District village of Hope lies in the heart of the Hope Valley, and on the doorstep of some great walking country. Set amongst the beautiful rolling hills of the Peak District National Park, the village boasts some village pubs which serve food, a general store, some very interesting shops and galleries to explore, and a railway station. Hope is perfectly situated for either an action-packed break full of caving, climbing, and great walks from the doorstep, or a quiet countryside break in this lovely part of the Peaks. The Winnats Pass cuts a course through superb scenery just a couple of miles away in Castleton, and is a delight for walkers, cyclists and motorists alike. Nearby are the pretty villages of Edale, the start of the Pennine Way, Castleton and Hathersage with its seasonal outdoor swimming pool, while horse riding and the wonderful Castleton Caves are all available within 3 miles. Enjoy a day out at Alton Towers or visit the impressive Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. Also within easy reach are Buxton, Matlock Bath and Carsington Water, while further afield are the market towns of Ashbourne and Leek.
