My husband and I stayed at Overlea cottage for our mini moon and we had a memorable time at Overlea Cottage. The setting and location of the cottage is perfect, as you are in nature, but in a way that points of interest are close enough. Everything about the accommodation is truly luxurious. The cottage is beautifully decorated, the furniture is comfortable, there is an impressive high tech entertainment system and there is a log fire, another cosy touch. We were really impressed with the hot tub and used it frequently. It is maintained daily, which you don’t even notice as it is done so discreetly. The cottage was immaculately clean and well presented. Alan saw to it that we were well looked after, providing helpful recommendations for local attractions. A really thoughtful touch from the owners was the provision of groceries such as a loaf of tasty bread and milk to keep us going for the start of our stay. We would definitely stay again, it is such a beautiful cottage. Really spacious and luxurious. The cottage gives you a feeling of home.

What a wonderful and perfect property Overlea Cottage is. I know in many reviews people will describe something as perfect but what does that actually mean? One person’s perfect could be another person’s okay. Perfect to me is entering the property to hear some muted music playing through the quality Sonos system. It is really good bread sourced from a local baker that stayed fresh for 4-5 days. It is amazing eggs that tasted fabulous when scrambled with the aforementioned bread. Perfect is a generously sized cottage for two people that genuinely felt like a home. With window shelves for you to sit on and read a book. With a top of the range TV connected to the Sonos system and offering Netflix, Amazon etc. With two separate bathrooms – one for when you need a quick shower before or after a dip in the fabulous hot tub and the other with an even bigger shower and free standing ball and claw bath. Perfect to me is a property that I could happily live in enjoying the space of the kitchen/diner and open lounge, revelling in the natural warmth of the wood burner in those cold months and the underfloor heating at all other times. It is a kitchen that is stocked with everything that you need and a utility cupboard offering everything else that you don’t but might. It is a friendly helpful owner that is available to replace any breakages (sorry again about the champagne flute) or fix any problems if you need him. Overlea Cottage was a genuine haven that despite all the other things that we planned for our time in the Peak District was somewhere that we happily spent an entire day lazing in, enjoying the comfort of the sofa and the luxury of the hot tub. A truly fabulous time and probably the best self-catering property that we’ve ever stayed in.
