Lovely period cottage, included all the usual home comforts, welcome pack was a nice touch .. A very large garden for the dog to have a run around in and great walks on the doorstep very restful week - just what we needed. The cottage was very clean and we appreciated all the effort the owners put in place to make our holiday safe.

This is a very comfortable cottage, on a small housing estate.. The owner is really kind, and gave a bit of family history on the property which was really touching. Very well equipt cottage with a fantastic garden . You can walk along the Chesterfield Canal nearby, otherwise you need to travel further for things to do. There are lots if lovely country villages and historic houses with fabulous grounds to explore just a short drive away.

Warm & very comfortable, lovely secure garden for our dog.. Bit like stepping back in time to the 1970's inside. Perhaps needs just z little de-cluttering so that those who choose to do self catering actually have some cupboard space. It was like home from home with absolutely everything you could want. Thank you very much for our welcome gifts and for making us very welcome. Rochester. Kent.

Loved the garden ideal when the sun was out, also the fact there were two shops and one was actually next door, will be returning again next year hopefully.. Ideal for popping into Chesterfield to visit the sights and markets.

A perfect location for exploring the Peak District and also places such as Rother Valley, Clumber Park and Yorkshire Sculpture Park.. The garden was ideal for the dogs - very secure. The house was cosy and extremely well equipped. There were several well-organised folders with information about places to go and things to do, and a thoughtful welcome pack of tea, coffee, biscuits and breakfast provisions. All in all, an absolutely perfect holiday cottage.

The back garden is large and totally dog proof, so you can relax. There is a utility area for towelling down and feeding dogs. The inside of the house is dated but really comfortable, roomy and well equipped. There is lots to do in the local area and some nice dog-friendly pubs. We had a great time and would recommend. Good value for money.

Great property for dogs which are safe in the garden and there are lots of local walks.. Separate utility area and a door to stop dogs going upstairs are bonuses. The area around the house isn't anything to write home about, but there is lots to do in the local area, and it is on the edge of the Peak District. The house itself is very dated internally and is like time travel to the 1970s but it is comfortable, roomy and well equipped. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Good value for money.

If you are looking to stay close to the Peak district then look no further. Our family (five adults) stayed for a number of nights and found this property very comfortable. This cottage had everything you could wish for including good wi-fi (much to the joy of my children!). The place was spotlessly clean and very well presented. Plenty of car parking space and near the village shop. The central heating made the rooms feel very comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. A lovely welcome from the owner which made us feel most welcome.

Within the first night of the stay our 2 kids asked if we could stay again.. I'm local born to the area but have been in Dumfries, Scotland for 26years and visit area at least once a year. Have stayed in various holiday cottages but this was the best yet for every reason - clean, welcoming, comfortable, great facilities, homely, excellent information available and close to what & where we wanted(family/friends). The only thing I missed from home was a radio in the kitchen but that is a minor detail. We had family visit us and they too were impressed. Looking forward to a return trip.

The Old Grocery had real character and charm. There was evidence of the old owners interests and hobbies- I hope this remains as the property is developed. It is a nice change from generic 'budget hotel' style decor. Everything you could possibly need on a stay away was to hand and in good working order and the entire house was impeccably clean. The location of the property was perfect. We enjoyed canal and field walks with the dog as well as trips into Chesterfield town centre. Hands down, my favourite part of the trip was having such a generous garden full of varied mature trees. This green space really made the trip special.
