I went with my husband and cousin. We went for a quiet getaway for my birthday for 7 days. I have to say buttermere was beautiful, tranquil and picturesque. The log cabin was so welcoming and homely the gardens around it were stunning with so much wildlife it was amazing. The cabin had everything we needed. The beds were comfy the sofa was brilliant the kitchen was well equipped. We had an issue with a blocked shower but I spoke to the owner and they sort it the same day. I would certainly recommend to everyone. If you have children this would be for you they would love the gardens and the hills and fields.

It was perfect for a short break away.. The cabin is well equipped, very cosy and surprisingly warm. It is private and well situated for some real Lake District walks. It would have been nice to have a log burner inside, but I'm really just nitpicking here!

Beautiful little Cottage.. Was perfect for us with a toddler. Big grounds to let the toddler burn off steam each day and enjoy seeing the sheep on the hills close by. Facilities in the house were great. Everything you need for your stay. Fridge with little freezer provided which was very handy. Towels and all the essentials provided. Nice selection of leaflets to browse through of things in the area and beyond. Greenodd village just a 2 min drive away. Beautiful walks around the area and a great base for visiting many Gardens, Castles and Parks. If you want a relaxing peaceful location, this is it. Nice outdoor seating - perfect for summer months. Easy to find location. All additional notes on the booking form were helpful in locating the property - tucked away. Owners very approachable and there if you need any help with regards to the property. Great idea for key access. Overall beautiful place. Will certainly be returning.

Lovely log cabin in beautiful garden setting.. Comfortable beds. Warm and cozy accomodation when the English summer is not at its best. Good location for the Lakes if you have a car. All very good.

The facility is in need of some TLC.. There were cobwebs in all rooms in the ceiling point. The upholstery was stained and needed cleaning. The kitchen table was sticky to touch even after a clean. The carpet was thin and thread bare and had a rip on the join with the kitchen flooring. The toilet flush wasn’t strong enough, needing 2 to satisfy. The WiFi didn’t work at all either. The bedding was lumpy, not sure if due to age or choice of filling. The exterior path to the cabin was over grown. This made the path narrower and when wet difficult to pass as the stone wall had to be used as a step which got slippery when wet.

This was our second stay at Buttermere, and I hope we'll be able to visit again in the future.. We came for peace and quiet and for the beautiful surroundings. The owners were friendly and available, but not intrusive. We love it.

An exceptionally lovely, chalet set in outstandingly beautiful, peaceful grounds.. A very cosy, tasteful interior which benefits from an abundance of natural light. I visited during a very cold spell in May 2019 but I was able to keep snug due to the excellent heating system. Its is evident that in warm / hot weather, the nicely equipped terrace would be a pleasure to sit on and provide a great view of the tranquil and stunning grounds. A little patch of heaven. The proprietors are helpful, close by if needed, but very unobtrusive. I recommend Buttermere unreservedly and hope to return.

Lovely little cabin.. Perfect for the two of us and our son. Being 7, he loved having some space to himself with his own room and having a little explore in the garden. Fab little kitchen with everything you could need (except maybe a spatula and an oven tray- tiny detail, not drastic) Great base for exploring the South Lakes. We will definitely be back!

Set in lovely location the quality of the accommodation leaves a lot to be desired.. Eg no light in the oven,no blind cord on the bedroom window, access to the cottage difficult for those with walking problems ,plants overgrown an inconvenience as our clothing got wet when entering or leaving.

We were delighted with this accommodation - quiet, clean and comfortable and surrounded by lovely bird- and wildlife-filled grounds.. The owners were friendly and helped with advice about places to visit locally. A great base for visiting the Lakes and also just for relaxing and enjoying the peace and quiet.

Accommodation was in a superb location as described and would probably return but a few extras would have been nice eg welcome pack .. have been to many cottages over the years the location was this ones best feature by far but for the lakes reasonable value for money The twin cottage in the same grounds(Grasmere) was a better standard inside than ours .

Perfect for family with one grown up child. The place is quiet and clean with adequate cooking facilities to make our own meals. A good restaurant nearby is Farmers Arms, the oldest pub in the Lake District, we had a nice dinner there.
