Area
The most westerly major town in Cornwall, Penzance faces the shores of Mount’s Bay, the famous St Michael's Mount rising from the sea in its centre. A bustling harbour town with quaint streets lined with shops and cafes and a promenade stretching towards the fishing port of Newlyn. Known for its mild year-round climate, palm trees and tropical plants thrive here and are best viewed at the beautiful sub tropical Morrab Gardens, close to the town centre. Popular with photographers, the art deco Jubilee seawater pool should not be missed for a dip in summer months. Home to the Georgian Theatre built around 1786, the theatre is thought to be one of the oldest Georgian theatres in the country. Golowan Festival is held in Penzance each June – a ten day festival with carnivals, music and dance. Penzance is an ideal base for exploring the far south west of Cornwall, with St Ives and Carbis bay a short drive.

Cornwall's visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain's premier holiday destinations.

The best cottage we have ever rented.. Wonderful view to St Michaels Mount over farmland. Close to Ding Dong Mill ruins do steeped in history. Friendly but never intrusive farmer / owner. Many extra and unexpected little extras including a cream tea waiting us on arrival, fresh flowers and a bowl of fruit. A real rural escape but near to all the must do places in West Cornwall.

The cottage was lovely: a beautiful quiet location, utterly peaceful, and 30 minutes bike ride from the lovely rugged North Cornwall coastline.. Very nicely decorated and all provided for. And a very kind owner who even offered to pick me and my bicycle up from the station in his pick-up, as it was raining. Much enjoyed being there and hope to go back sometime.

The cottage was lovely and we loved the location.. The peace was beautiful. Mr Williams was v. friendly and we had a good chat with him. However, as the cottage is fairly off the beaten track we thought it would be hepful to have a sign (stating the name of the cottage) which can be seen from the road. (ie at the end of the drive instead of halfway down). Although we were using sat.nav. we lost our signal near to the cottage and drove past twice! Also, a night light (so as not too bright to keep you awake) would be useful to light the staircase as the toilet is downstairs and is a bit tricky going downstairs in the middle of the night. We are at that age! We would definitely visit again.

Extremely quiet & peaceful - a real chance to relax and unwind.. Owner very friendly and thoughtful. Flowers, a cream tea and a bottle of locally produced apple juice to welcome you.

This was our 10th stay at The Boar’s House, which speaks for itself! Mr Williams and family couldn’t be more helpful. The little stone cottage has been fitted out to an acceptably high standard. The situation is secluded with wonderful views.
