Would be helpful to have an additional dining room chair-5 provided for 6 occupants Downstairs toilet and upstairs to a lesser extent are on eco flush so not enough water comes in to the cisterns to adequately flush away everything.. This needs adjusting especially downstairs Owners were friendly welcoming and helpful and the outside space was lovely with very adequate parking

Lovely old cottage situated right in the countryside but not too far to drive to Kirkby Lonsdale and Sedbergh.. As the cottage was in the countryside the 'road' as expected was mainly single track which might not be suitable for everyone. The cottage had majority of what we expected but we did take a few kitchen items with us as we were going to be eating in every day and from previous cottage holidays we had some idea what might not be available (lasagne dish and large casserole dish), but the kitchen was well equipped. Lovely lounge to relax in with a log burner for cosy evenings. Excellent shower. Ample parking space and a small enclosed garden with furniture. Ideal location for walking and cycling, with lovely countryside to explore. Nothing was too much trouble for Angie and Mal and we would definitely consider coming back again.

We like the fact that the clock does not work in the living room.. Therefore time stands still but our enjoyment continues. This was our second visit to the cottage because our grandchildren from the other KL insisted on coming back. Having to drive back into Kl is no hardship on Xmas Fayre weekend with the park and ride facility provided by the rugby club. Parking elsewhere is a nightmare. Cottage warm and cosy. First class allround.

Beckside cottage is a lovely cosy cottage in a beautiful part of the world.. The instructions on how to find it we're easy to follow and it was lovely and warm when we first entered. The kitchen is well equipped and a we had everything left to make a fire in the magnificent fireplace. We all loved snuggling up in front of it a night. The only downside and the thing that didn't make this holiday perfect was the bed in the panelled room. I have never had such an uncomfortable sleep. It was like sleeping on a stone bench it was that hard and the duvet just seems so small. Also instructions on how to advance the heating would have been helpful as we had to stay in till late ish one day as my daughter was unwell and it was freezing. All in all we still enjoyed it and hope to return to kirkby Lonsdale as it was such a pretty town and had such lovely people while not being too crammed. It's a good base for both the lakes and the dales.

Cottage was lovely and warm when we arrived.. Well stocked kitchen. Loved the wood burner - my son was in his element keeping it going. We had a lovely but brief stay. Beautiful area of the country. We did not appreciate the full beauty until the next day having arrived in the dark. No problems with finding the cottage, out sat nav took us straight there.

Access to the holiday cottage is along very narrow winding lanes with zero visibility in some places.. This can make getting to or from the road to Kendal/Kirkby Lonsdale a little bit nail biting for some! Though there is very little traffic using the narrow lanes and the local farmers/land owners are well aware of the possibility of meeting oncoming traffic and so take great care - it is still a nervy few minutes driving along the lanes (there is no alternative route to get to the cottage(s)). As a result of the narrow lanes the property is very peaceful - though the few other cottages in the hamlet prevent any feeling of isolation.

What a lovely cottage with plenty of room for the whole family.. We met the owner as we arrived slightly early and she was really friendly and helpful. The cottage was spotlessly clean, full of character and charm. The outside was very pretty with plenty of space to park both cars right by the front door. The garden is contained via low walls and a gate - great for dogs or young children. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, spotless oven, microwave and lovely to have such a big freezer separate from the fridge. The sitting room was spacious and comfortable with a freeview tv setup. The three bedrooms were clean and pretty - the front bedroom with ensuite shower was particularly light and airy which was helpful as one of our group has very limited sight. The family bathroom was clean and modern with a large good quality shower (although I recommend working out how to turn it on to get hot water before turning it on or you will end up rather chilly - turn the dial round to 3 o'clock). In terms of location, we found it perfect as a real country escape in stunning countryside. There was a very quiet road outside while being only a short drive into the nearby town with all the usual amenities such as supermarket, chemist etc. as well as being surrounded by fabulous walks. Loved the area and would definitely recommend this cottage. We plan to come back!

Had a fabulous week and the cottage was very comfortable.. Cottage was a little further away than we thought from Kirkby Lonsdale which was not helped by the road being closed for several days and we had to drive further to get to and from the cottage.

Only slight downside was the WiFi signal went down the last three days and as the phone signal was very weak we had no way of communicating with home.. Beautiful cottage in a lovely, peaceful location and the glorious weather made it a fabulous week.

Beckside Cottage is a lovely holiday cottage perfectly located for exploring both the Yorkshire Dales and the Lakes.. The owners have done a great job restoring this beautiful building and fitted it with all the amenities a family would need for a comfortable and relaxing family holiday. The owners were friendly and very helpful when we had to ring them for help regarding something that came up. We had a fantastic week. The highlight for the kids was the brook at the bottom of the garden, where they spent hours playing! We would certainly go back again.

Beckside Cottage is a lovely, well kept old cottage within easy reach of Kirkby Lonsdale.. The cottage had everything we needed for a weeks stay and was lovely and clean. I absolutely loved the cottage itself and hope to return again in the future. However, originally I had booked for myself, husband, 2 children and my Mum & Dad as well as the dog as it is able to sleep 6. Having stayed in the cottage, I think it would be a bit cramped with 4 adults and 2 children and was perfect for the 4 of us and possibly 1 other child. I would highly recommend.

This Cottage was so comfortable! Lots of lovely features, a wood burning stove but central heating as a back-up, clean and comfortable. Never had a better nights sleep! The owners dropped in twice to welcome us and see if everything was fine - very nice people. This was a family holiday and we all had a great time. Would definitely book this house again.

We stayed as a family party of 12 for New Year in Beckside Cottage and Old Stables. In Beckside, the lounge was comfortable with an effective wood burner and very good heating system. We were a party of 2 adults, 2 teenagers and a 3 and 5 year old. For travelling purposes,we kept clothing to a minimum as the property said it was supplied with towels and a washing machine. We had one small bath towel approx 120x60cm each and were made to feel unreasonable asking for more. We did get 6 more small towels, to be shared amongst the 12 of us. Also, when we arrived, we were presented with a clothes airer and told " you will need this, the washer is broken". Fortunately, we were able to take our washing next door to The Old Stables but it was not ideal. I feel that we should have been informed of the washing machine situation before we left home, in order to bring more clothes and towels........anyone with teenagers and under 5's will understand!! We did, however, enjoy our stay and the kids loved it.

September 2015
fabulous cottage, lovely lounge with wood burner, kitchen has all you need but is a bit of a tight squeeze with 6 around the table! Bedrooms are comfortable, one is a little dark. We stayed bank holiday weekend and we were a party of 4 adults and 2 children. We really enjoyed our stay, cosy evenings with the fire lit, lovely countryside surrounding it. We really enjoyed our weekend and is a perfect base for exploring the Lune valley or just relaxing in front of the fire with a glass of wine (or cup of tea!). Would recommend

Just returned from a week at Beckside Cottage. The location of the cottage is in a rural countryside area, directions from the owners were great, and on arrival we felt at home straight away the house was warm and welcoming, it is very ,very clean and is presented in a high standard,it is well equipped and apart from a soup ladle we had everything we needed. At night it was greatly to have the log fire crackle as we spend some good family time together ,eating ,chatting ,reading, and being away from the rat race. Thanks to all at Beckside Cottage

Without hesitation would stay in this lovely cottage again. Adjacent to other cottages but with its own entrance you were unaffected by the other guests. Beautifully decorated with good quality furnishings and wood burner, we felt 'embraced' by this house! It was a much needed weekend escape after the death of my Mother in law and so as a family just needed a relaxed and quiet time away. The dog was happy with walks along the lane next to the house and trips in the car to the Lakes too. Have discussed returning there for a 'girls escape weekend'! Don't hesitate with this one - just book it - one of the best cottages that I have ever stayed in!

This was my first booking online and with Sykes.. I will be using this company again, the whole process from start to finish has been first class. The accommodation was lovely, the location in between the Lakes and Dales could not have been better. The cottage has been lovingly restored using modern and traditional styles that work well together it is situated with three other buildings all equally loving restored. I would recommend this cottage and like to go back and see the final restoration works. A really great time was had by myself, husband and my parents.
