We are now into double figures in the amount of times we have visited either Dragon or Red Kite Lodge. We still get the same feelings on our latest visits than we got on our first.
simply put, if you want to be somewhere which is just so peaceful, with the only noises being the animals, and the odd tractor passing, then this is the place for you.
upon arrival you are greeted to a lovely chocolate cake, loaf of bread, and milk in the fridge. The fire is already built, you just need to light it.
Dragon Lodge has 2 bedrooms, 1 with Double bed, and en suite.
the 2nd room, King Sized Bunk Beds (never seen these as an option before)
These are fantastic, liked by Adults and kids, all of the beds are supremely comfy.
The Hot tub is massive, its 40 degrees, temp drops a little the longer you are in.
the is a smart tv in each room, and a larger smart tv in the lounge (Don't forget to log out of your apps when you leave)
the living space is all open plan, and is vast, comfy couches with enough space for 6, large beautiful dining table.
there is patio doors which open out onto the veranda, in the centre is a large round table and chairs, and to the left there is the massive hot tub.
Both of these overlook the vast countryside in front of you, the glass fronted veranda allows you to feed the Alpacas, Goats and Sheep.
the Alpacas especially love Rich Tea Biscuits.
when we come for a week, we plan on trying to get out sightseeing at least three times, we have never got out for a day more than once, such is the draw to just sit, chill and relax.
my advice would be if your arriving on the Friday (4pm check in) would be to take something for tea that night, have toast for breakfast, then head out to get your weeks shopping in (Tesco/ Asda/ Lidl/ Aldi and Morrisons all within a 20 min drive)
plan some days out (but don't expect to do them all once your chilled)
if you can, take a walk to the Bull & Heifer Pub in the Village, its around a mile walk away, i will advise that the walk is longer back (uphill and dependant on how much you have supped in the pub)- the atmosphere is fantastic in the pub, has good sized seating areas outside, check on local listings for any events on here as they do a few, and they are great. the food is excellent, never had a bad meal.
Julie, and kev who own the lodges are just the best hosts you could wish for, they are the sort of people who if you ask for something, if they don't have it, they will try there best to find it for you, nothing is too much trouble, they come to clean and check the hot tub every day, they are always on hand if you do need anything.
Get to know them, have a chat, you will become friends with them very quickly.
If you are looking for somewhere to stay, you got to try this place, i do not think you will be disappointed, we feel the calmness hit us as soon as we can see the lodges on the horizon, if i could move in, i would.
Julie, Kev, Gem & Josh- Keep up the fantastic work you do, your lodges are now are second home.
