Surrounded by beautiful hills and woodland there is plenty to explore on foot if you choose to leave the car behind. The cottage is set on the fringes of the small village of Llandenny. Just two miles from Raglan, where you are well served with local village inns, mini supermarket, award winning butcher and a fish and chip shop. You are well situated for exploring both the Wye Valley and Brecon Beacons National Park. Wander through the ancient oak woodlands of the Forest of Dean and enjoy the scenery which changes with the seasons. The towns, villages and attractions of the Wye Valley are within easy reach. For an activity packed holiday, there is the Brecon Beacons National Park, an absolute haven for walkers, where you can enjoy the varied landscapes throughout the year, climbing and kayaking. For cyclists, you can take advantage of many scenic routes including the National Cycling Route (42), which runs nearby, together with some of the best mountain biking centres in the UK. You can try water sports at Llandegfedd Reservoir and there is fantastic fishing nearby on the River Usk, with day permits available in Usk. Visit one of the many vibrant, local market towns where you can pick up local produce at a farmers market, the closest being Usk (5 miles), Monmouth (10miles) and Abergavenny (12 miles), the gateway to the Brecon Beacons. The area is also rich in heritage, with many castles including Raglan Castle, just a stone s throw away. There are numerous beautiful churches, including the remains of the stunning Tintern Abbey, just a short drive away, as well as the well preserved remains of Roman civilisation in Caerleon and Caerwent. For those interested in horse racing, Chepstow racecourse is easily accessible. Golfers are spoilt for choice with access to the Celtic Manor s 3 courses, the Rolls of Monmouth, Green Meadow Golf and Country Club, Woodlake Park and Golf Club and St Pierre golf course. For the family there is Raglan farm park, 2 miles away, including large outdoor and indoor play areas. The Cities of Cardiff and Bristol are both an hour away by car. The property is one of two environmentally friendly converted farm barns, heated by air source heat pump, with underfloor heating throughout. Enjoying views across the hedgerows into the countryside. The cosy space offers comfortable corner sofas where you can curl up in the warmth of the wood burner, in front of the Smart TV or enjoy a film on the DVD player. The chef of your group can make the most of the well equipped kitchen space with electric oven and induction hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and washer/dryer. There is one double bedroom and one twin bedroom, each of which benefits from an en suite shower and WC. Outside, there is an open aspect area with table, chairs and fire pit which forms part of a large, enclosed space. Guests with dogs can make use of the enclosed paddock that is at the base of the garden. There is secure storage for bikes along with a bike wash, and off road parking for two cars.
