Gilwern is a traditional village with pubs, shops, and a picturesque canal.

It sits on the edge of the Blaenavon World Heritage site, and you can enjoy country walks right from your doorstep or visit the historic town of Abergavenny (4 miles) full of shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes. Nearby are galleries, museums, castles and a vineyard, or hire a narrowboat; you can see the viaduct crossing the Clydach just a little way up the gorge.
