Kirriemuir, locally known as Kirrie, is a small town 5 miles north of Forfar. Kirriemuir's most famous son was the author JM Barrie, the creator of Peter Pan. His birthplace, now owned by the National Trust, contains an imaginative exhibition featuring life-size figures, theatre posters and stage costumes. There is a statue of Peter Pan in the middle of the town.
Barrie gifted a camera obscura to the people of the town from which you can enjoy stunning panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Birdwatchers will enjoy a visit to the nearby Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) reserve at Loch of Kinnordy, home to many wetland birds, viewable from hides and boardwalks.
Highlights of the social calendar are the Kirriemuir Festival of Traditional Music and Song, featuring ceilidhs, music and storytelling sessions. Also the Annual Bon Scott International Rock Music Festival (Bonfest) in honour of AC/DC's Bon Scott who's hometown was Kirriemuir. There is a lifesized bronze statue of Bon Scott in Kirriemuir which was unveiled during the 10th festival in 2016.

We recently booked 2 wks at the 'Garden Cottage' and were so happy and contented that this will be our 1st inquiry when coming back 'home' the next time from overseas. Prior to our arrival Mrs Campbell kept in touch and provided excellent guidance - and on our arrival we immediately felt comfortable with both the cottage itself and the warmth of welcome. The cottage is clean and spacious and compared to a Travelodge (about the same price) this is so, so much better - we had everything we needed including reliable wi-fi, easy parking and Mr & Mrs Campbell being in the background to be of any assistance. Two great weeks which we hope to repeat each year we come back home

A lovely self catering cottage in a beautiful setting. Owners could not do enough for you and provided a much appreciated welcome pack. The smell of home baked bread was great. We would definitely score cottage 10+. We have already booked another stay later this year.

Sally communicated very effectively and made us feel completely at home, no query or request being too much trouble. A fantastic comfortable cottage between Kirriemuir and Glamis. All the required appliances and facilities expected of home and very well set up for children. This premises will always be my first choice when travelling in this area.

Sally Campbell's Garden Cottage is in every way an ideal place to stay for self-catering. From home-baked welcome treats and a gift to a very well-equipped kitchen, comfortable bed and living room, we felt immediately at home here. Sally herself is a very welcoming, warm and helpful host. She even lent us a mobile phone because we could not use our U.S. one. We will definitely stay at Garden Cottage again when we visit Kirriemuir and the Angus glens.

My family and I had a great time, using Garden Cottage as a base to explore Angus. I can honestly say if we had been Sally's family, we would not have been treated any better, from the welcome pack to catering for our wee toddler, it was a great wee holiday.

My family had an excellent stay in this cottage. The owner had thought of everything and her welcome and helpfulness was excellent. A great base to see Angus and Dundee. A superbly equipped cottage with a lovely garden with views of the Sidlaw hills and the Highlands. We would most certainly stay in this cottage again.
