Description
One of Burano’s iconic rainbow houses, this 17th-century building sits on the Canale della Giudecca. From the shop and restaurant-lined street, you step straight into the kitchen which looks like a traditional nona’s cucina with its cast iron oven. The dine-in living room on the ground floor feels more like a dining room with a sofa, but the additional attic reading nook makes up for the shared space downstairs. Both big, bright bedrooms are up on the first floor (up a creaky wooden staircase) and you’ve got the added bonus of a private terrace tucked away at the back.
Home truths: *One of the bedrooms has twin beds that can be arranged as a king-size bed on request.
*Both bedrooms are upstairs, so this place may not suit those with limited mobility.
*The main door opens straight into the kitchen.
*You're on Burano, rather than the main island of Venice, but water buses leave frequently for San Marco and Torcello. There is no parking, but this is a car-free area.
