Quaint, small apartment on two floors in an old house in the former castle complex in Montecatini. The apartment is simply furnished, but offers a fabulous view over the roofs of the Cecina valley and to Volterra. The apartment was clean but the pots and pans are a disaster. The apartment is very quiet in a small, narrow and steep alley. You can drive to the house to load/unload, but you cannot park there. The driveway is narrow and steep over cobblestones and not for big cars or the faint hearted. ;) There are free parking spaces in the village below. WLAN is available and costs an additional 3 euros per day. A visit to the former copper mine on the outskirts is recommended. Admission including a guided tour (Italian, English, German) with the wonderful Lucia costs 7 for adults. EUR, for children depending on age 3 or 5 EUR. There is a lot of information, a tour through the ruins of the buildings and with a helmet and pocket lame through a small part of the old tunnels.
