The cottage is in a brilliant location by being half way around the Ring of Kerry area but because it is actually situated on the Wild Atlantic Way you do feel the peace and quiet of the area and away from the traffic of the main tourist route.. We saw a mountain goat across the road one day. There is so much to do from here without having to drive very far. Our highlights were Derrynane beach, Kerry Cliffs (with converted bus cafe), the slate quarry grotto and Geokaun mountain walk both on Valentia, the Skellig Abbey remains on Ballinskelligs Beach. McCarthy Castle on Ballinskelligs beach is great fun for climbing up into ..Ballinskelligs beach is lovely, is Blue Flag and has a lovely garden cafe with mini market on Sunday. The beach is perfect for swimming as there are few waves. SuperValu in Cahersiveen is not far away for your big shop and you can top up at Brown’s just down the road for essentials and treats...for gift shopping then Skelligs chocolate factory is a must and the Skellig gift shop just before Waterville is really big with beautiful woollens, pottery, glassware etc. Special Thanks to Mary who looks after the cottage who called on us, she is so friendly and welcoming and recommended places to eat and visit. The cottage sea views are lovely.
We loved our stay and will definitely return.
