It is located on the magnificent Skellig Ring between Waterville and Valentia Island, on the forthcoming Wild Atlantic Way, with wild rugged coastlines, scattered islands, vast mountains, and high passes. The surrounding area features various ancient and early Christian ruins along its coasts, which were once the land base for the monks of Skellig Michael. The area is known for its miles of golden beaches and blue waters, and the Blue Flag beach offers excellent swimming and water sports, as well as boat cruises to the Skellig Islands, trekking in the Ballinskellig/Bolus Head Loop, and cycling.
