Welcome to play badminton & table-tennis on our lawns, then... sink into that hot-tub!
We have a library area with books, DVDs, playing cards and board games. Also a Welcome Folder with lots of local info, ‘Things to do’, ‘Places to Visit’ and maps. Golf set available.
Let us know if you require equipment for baby, elderly and disabled (no charge). If you are 'working from home' you are welcome to borrow our printer!
Sleeps 6: Two double bedrooms and one twin bedroom. Bathroom with spacious shower area - instant shower and also a second mains shower. Oil-fired central heating. Cosy solid fuel stove. Well-equipped kitchen. Large-screen smart TV/DVD. Dish-washer, washing machine, tumble-dryer, American-style fridge/freezer, microwave, iron and ironing board, etc. Furnished to high standard.
Private off-road parking. Peaceful setting: you will enjoy the BBQ area and dining outdoors where the only spectators are the cows in the field next door!

The cottage is nestled in a picturesque country setting on the edge of the unspoilt beauty of the boglands of Connemara. Stroll the popular walking route through bog lanes past Lough Inch to Barna Golf Course. A designated 'Gaeltacht' area. Beaches, shops, award-winning restaurants, horse-riding are all within easy reach. Salthill 10 mins drive - offers watersports, funfair, nightclubs. Galway City 15 mins.
BARNA offers award-winning restaurants (Donnelly's, The Twelve Hotel, O'Grady's at the pier), cafés, hair & beauty salons, health food shop, gift shop, boutiques, bakery and a great supermarket. Visit Silver Strand Beach, Barna Woods, Rusheen Bay Bird Sanctuary, Tennis Courts, Spiddal Craft Village, the Aran Islands, Salthill Promenade and many other superb amenities. Or pop into the lively city of Galway to hear traditional music, watch street entertainment or attend many of the festivals that are held throughout the year, including the famous Galway Races (end July), Galway Arts festival, Oyster festivals, Cúirt Literary festival, Medieval Festival, and many more. Take the coast route through Spiddal, Inveran, and on to Ros-a-Mhil to catch the ferry to the Aran Islands, or travel the 'lakes' route through Oughterard (famous for salmon fishing & castle), Maam Cross, past the Twelve Pins Mtns to the busy market town of Clifden and on to the Connemara National Park & Renvyle or even to Inishbofin Island. There are many golf courses nearby (only a short walk to the Barna Golf Course). Explore The Burren, Cliffs of Moher, Aillwee Caves, Coole Park, Thoor Ballylee... Lovely quiet cottage in the heart of the countryside - it was great to wake up to birdsong! Clean, spacious living area (we were 4 adults), plenty of towels, good shower. (Also a hot tub but the weather was too hot for us to use it). You do need a car as it's not near the shops but it's very handy for Galway city and we also went swimming at Silver strand, a lovely white sandy beach a couple of kilometres away. We were visiting relatives and touring the area and it's a great base for lots of day trips not just in county Galway but also Mayo and Clare. Kate the owner was very friendly and helpful and quick to answer any queries we had. We had a great stay here.

Perfect location, as it is quiet away from the main road but still a very short stroll into town. Shop and pubs just around the corner. The house was clean and had very comfortable bedrooms. As well it was very well equipped with kitchen utensils, so preparing your own breakfasts and dinnners was no problem. The manager of that house (Kathy) was very flexible when we had to change the dates we booked the house for, as all our flights were canceled due to a snowstorm. All in all it was a great place to stay.

This was our second visit to the cottage and once again we were very pleased. Kate and Carlos are very professional and excellent hosts. The cottage is fully equipped and all needs catered for. An ideal area from which to tour or alternatively to relax and chill out away from the hustle bustle of city life but at the same time but a short journey into the city Thoroughly recommend this property to potential clients. We intend to return in 2018

PEACEFUL & WELL LOCATED.
My family and I had a wonderful stay here. We rented both the cottage and the smaller accommodation and were able to comfortably fit a total of 7 people. Kate really is one of the best. She communicated well with me from the start - super responsive, and was over-the-top in meeting our needs. The property is in a great location. From here we were easily able to visit Galway, the Cliffs of Moher, Connemara, and more. This was a highlight of our Ireland vacation. Recommended

WONDERFUL! My husband and I just spent a wonderful week at Kate's Cottage. The cottage is lovely, situated in a beautiful , quiet, and peaceful country setting. It has everything you need for your comfort. The location is a perfect base for touring Galway and the west of Ireland. We hope to be back!

PEACE AND TRANQUILITY. The cottage is nestled amongst rolling green fields and is both peaceful and ideally sited. Close to Bearna but sufficiently located to enjoy that silence of the countryside. Delighted this is a pet friendly cottage and welcome the owners willingness to accommodate our wonderful golden retriever who is well behaved at all times. Well equipped - good welcome pack. Owners close by which is such a plus. Would I go back- indeed I would- in fact- indeed I am going back in August!

this house is beautiful and in a very peaceful environment. there is everything you need nearby and it's the perfect location for an relaxing holiday with comfortable nights at the fire place. We didn't even want to leave anymore because Ireland is a wonderful country with very nice and helpful people :) we will definetly come back to that place one day

Very comfortable functional house.
We really enjoyed our stay in Kate's cottage in barna. Very close to all beaches and water sports in rusheen bay. Nice garden and comfortable beds. Highly recommend Donnellys for seafood. Kate is a very effective communicator and ensured our stay was friendly.

"Serene Country Getaway"
My partner and I used this cottage as a base to experience Galway and the surrounding area of Connemara last year, and found it to be the perfect location to fulfill this purpose, especially as it's generously nestled between Galway city, the seaside and the greater West. Kate and Carlos were extremely professional and friendly, kept both the cottage and the gardens in beautiful condition and made us feel very welcome.
