We had a lovely fortnight at the Glebe Barn with our two young children aged 2 and 5. It is beautiful, spacious, well-equipped and well-laid-out; great for playing hide-and seek!
There is a lovely lawned garden with table and chairs, a large umbrella and clothes airer; and 'field' beyond that has a trampoline, swing, chicken coop and tons of space to run around.
The owners and their parents were very friendly, lending us some garden toys, giving us fresh eggs and clean linen and towels during our stay.
We really appreciated having the dishwasher, washer/drier and wonderful power showers! We cooked many meals in the huge kitchen - Ludlow is a real foodie place and we enjoyed buying some lovely local produce. There is a market nearly everyday, farmers market and well-priced butcher.
The barn has a small selection of books, DVDs, jigsaw puzzles and a few games. We found the local info. pamphlets very useful. The recently installed wifi was great with a good, strong signal, mobile phone reception is good here too. The TV has freesat, but unfortunately didn't have the CBeebies channel :-(. There is no CD or MP3 player, but there was a DAB radio in the kitchen.
The 3 sofas and 2 chairs in the living room were practical but not comfortable and the plastic material left us feeling rather sweaty. There were also many cobwebs throughout the barn. However, the Glebe Barn is well set up for families. Our youngest was comfortable in the large wooden cot. The highchair was a bit tired, but invaluable once we figured out how to strap him in! I should also mention that there is black-out lining on the curtains in the two double rooms, which we really appreciated, but not in the family room.
There are some great local attractions that proved to be good places to visit with the children:
Ludlow Castle, Croft Castle, Hampton Court Castle, Severn Valley Railway, The Waterworks Museum (Hereford), shropshire Hills Discovery Centre, swimming at Teme Leisure, local playgrounds in Ludlow and Tenbury Wells.
