From the moment we booked this family break to celebrate my Wife’s 50th I felt confident that this would be perfect. The owner, Ian, was a pleasure to deal with prior to arriving and welcomed us upon our arrival to ensure that we were suitably comfortable. Glebe Barn itself is a fantastic place to locate yourself for a break near Ludlow and the surrounding Shropshire countryside. We stayed with our Son, Daughter, their partners and our Grandson and the Barn was more than large enough to allow us all to relax without feeling on top of each other. The large, high spec kitchen is a fantastic place to spend mealtimes and contains all the basics you need to be suitably catered for. The lounge area was extremely relaxing with an array of comfortable leather furniture and a wood-burning stove that made it hard to leave at the end of our break. All bedrooms are extremely comfortable and wee laid out with the master, family and double all ideal for their purpose. During our stay, we had rabbits, pheasants and red kites during the day and we particularly enjoyed listening to the community of tawny owls hooting during the evening and nighttime. The whole place was spotlessly clean and fresh, which we were keen to maintain during our stay and prior to leaving. To conclude, what else could we have asked for?………….Nothing

This is a beautiful property set in a lovely rural location.. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and intend to return. It is spacious and well planned. The owners live next door and were most welcoming. A perfect choice for a rest but with lots of local places of interest to visit and lovely walking close by. Thank you.

August 2020
Lovely property, well appointed and ideally located with country walks straight from the door, yet only a short drive to Ludlow.. Plenty of space to relax with family, which was our main aim as it was our first get together since lockdown ended. Excellent communication from Sykes throughout the booking process, and although Ian the owner wasn't around during our visit he was very welcoming on the phone & made sure we had his contact details if needed.

We spent a week here in July probably one of the hottest weeks for years! The cottage was lovely, spacious, clean and well equipped. It’s in a quiet village only a few minutes drive away from the nice town of Ludlow which has good supermarkets etc. You’re well placed for days out as well as you have access to main roads quite easily. The owners live just next door and were friendly and helpful, not that we had any issues though. Recommended if you’re looking to holiday in this area.

We have stayed in over 30 cottages over the last 10 years across 13 countries and this is by far the best.. .... and this was a repeat or our second visit. Very spacious, light and airy with great beds and showers which, in other cottages, are often sub par instant electric units over baths. These showers are dedicated units with nice pressure. It is a barn conversion with all the beams you could hope for!

We lucked out with Glebe Barn; the photos do not do it justice! A great space for a weekend break and easily accessible to Ludlow. We also did a walk recommended in the house folder and the surrounding countryside is beautiful.

Thoroughly enjoyed our break.. The host Ian was very welcoming. For extra luxury a bit more crockery/cutlery would be welcome in order to cut down on needing to use the dishwasher after every meal rather than just once a day, but this is a small thing and in no way detracted from our lovely break. This property is brilliant in that the reception rooms are very large making it great for a group. Would definitely recommend it and hope to stay again sometime.

Despite the very heavy rainfall as experienced by most of the UK during our week's holiday (7th-14th June 2019) , thankfully, Glebe Barn offered a very welcome retreat, being warm, very clean, spacious, extremely well equipped, full of character yet with a contemporary finish.. The owners were very welcoming and helpful without being intrusive. A bedroom TV would have been appreciated, however, the new lounge TV is a good plus point. The property's situation made it very easy to get to Ludlow ( a gem of a town), Blists Hill museum, Powys Castle & gardens, Hampton Court gardens, Hergest Croft gardens, the S.V.R and Burford House & gardens, the latter being exceptionally good value. Clearly, the bad weather did create problems, yet this area offers so much and we did manage to get out every day. Ludlow is a charming town ,full of small independent shops, many of which offered very unusual products. The town has lots of period properties, with Victorian style lighting and is very clean and well maintained.

We had a wonderful stay at Gelbe Barn.. This is the second time we have visited and it worked perfectly for getting my family all together. The barn is beautiful and has lots of space. The location is good and there are lots of places to visit nearby. My only slight comment is that the cot they provided wasnt very good but we had brought our own anyway so it was no problem.Thank you for a wonderful stay.

[From Tom]: Lovely place in a very nice Shropshire village.. Only thing I would ask to be addressed is to increase the amount of cutlery/crockery etc. to facilitate larger family groups. Owner [Ian] was very helpful indeed.

It was our Golden Wedding Anniversary, we were married in a local church 50 years ago, so we decided to celebrate the weekend in Shropshire with our family.. This cottage was ideal for needs, and it met our expectations. We had a lovely meal at Bistro7 in Corve St Ludlow, if you decide to use taxis to get there and back suggest you book WELL in advance.

Glebe Barn is a stunning property, inside and out.. So much space and a perfect base for exploring Shropshire. We were warmly welcomed and nothing was too much trouble for Ian. The use of the trampoline was a mega bonus for our little chap, his day wasn't complete unless he'd had a bonce! Thank you for making our stay such a happy one. We will be back!

A lovely property in a beautiful location only 3 miles from Ludlow.. The weather over our Easter break was terrible but we had a great holiday with friends and really enjoyed cosy evenings with the wood burner. Ian and Juliet could not have been more helpful or attentive when we had a small problem and we would not hesitate to recommend this property. We hope to return for a family holiday in the future when the sun is shining!

The space in the barn was fantastic and everything was very comfortable.. The owner was very helpful and there were clear instructions on how to operate everything. Plenty of towels and the small touches made all the difference.

December 2017
Glebe Barn was beautiful and in a superb location.. Much more spacious inside than we were expecting and with a warm welcome from the friendly and likeable owners. Cleanliness was first class throughout, and the kitchen large and well-equipped enough to easily cope with us catering for ourselves over the Christmas period. Perhaps consideration could be given to upgrading the TV in the lounge as with several in our party used to 4k TV's and old pre-HD CRT TV is rather behind the times. Given that the property can accommodate up to 7 people a larger refrigerator in the kitchen, or a second one in the utility room, would be useful as our party of 6 struggled for space in the under-counter unit that's there currently. We all also struggled to sit comfortably for any length of time on the sofas in the lounge so maybe these needing replacing too. These really are minor points though and I'd certainly recommend this property to anyone looking for a stay in Shropshire.

March 2017
Just got back from a family weekend at the barn and I have to say the place was superb. There were 6 adults and 2 children in our party (4 year old and 7 month old boys) The views from the barn are stunning, open fields for miles around. There's a nice big area for children to play inside the barn gates but over the field is a swing, chickens and a trampoline. The people who own the property are very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. They made sure the BBQ was available for us and we were lucky with the weather so all went well. The living room is very spacious with 3 sofas and 2 single seater, the kitchen is huge with a massive dining room table. The bedrooms were nice and big and the main bathroom was nice and big with a bath and walk in shower. The tv is a bit old BUT we only put it on for dvds for the kids so this didn't effect our stay at all. There is a log fire which was nice on the first night. I couldn't fault this place and would definitely love to go back. I can imagine it's gorgeous at Christmas time. Location is ideal only 2 miles from Ludlow. All in all we had a brilliant time and I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Great for a family weekend or week holiday.

October 2016
We had a lovely fortnight at the Glebe Barn with our two young children aged 2 and 5. It is beautiful, spacious, well-equipped and well-laid-out; great for playing hide-and seek! There is a lovely lawned garden with table and chairs, a large umbrella and clothes airer; and 'field' beyond that has a trampoline, swing, chicken coop and tons of space to run around. The owners and their parents were very friendly, lending us some garden toys, giving us fresh eggs and clean linen and towels during our stay. We really appreciated having the dishwasher, washer/drier and wonderful power showers! We cooked many meals in the huge kitchen - Ludlow is a real foodie place and we enjoyed buying some lovely local produce. There is a market nearly everyday, farmers market and well-priced butcher. The barn has a small selection of books, DVDs, jigsaw puzzles and a few games. We found the local info. pamphlets very useful. The recently installed wifi was great with a good, strong signal, mobile phone reception is good here too. The TV has freesat, but unfortunately didn't have the CBeebies channel :-(. There is no CD or MP3 player, but there was a DAB radio in the kitchen. The 3 sofas and 2 chairs in the living room were practical but not comfortable and the plastic material left us feeling rather sweaty. There were also many cobwebs throughout the barn. However, the Glebe Barn is well set up for families. Our youngest was comfortable in the large wooden cot. The highchair was a bit tired, but invaluable once we figured out how to strap him in! I should also mention that there is black-out lining on the curtains in the two double rooms, which we really appreciated, but not in the family room. There are some great local attractions that proved to be good places to visit with the children: Ludlow Castle, Croft Castle, Hampton Court Castle, Severn Valley Railway, The Waterworks Museum (Hereford), shropshire Hills Discovery Centre, swimming at Teme Leisure, local playgrounds in Ludlow and Tenbury Wells.

January 2014
We stayed here for a few days in autumn and loved every minute of it. The barn is wonderfully spacious, warm (too warm? That underfloor heating was so efficient! This was a bit upsetting as it meant we couldn't use the fire!) and nicely situated a short drive from Ludlow. We stayed during a half term so we paid a bit more than it's usually available for, but that's my own fault for marrying a teacher. A week's stay out of term time is very appealing. The owners were on hand for any questions we had but we tried our best to leave them alone. Lovely couple. Only slight drawback was that there wasn't a pub within walking distance but not a problem really as we were more than happy to stay tucked up in the house after dark. Highly recommended.

The owners are really friendly and helpful and made our stay a relaxed and pleasant one.

A year later and we are still re-living the holiday, and accommodation itself holds special memories for us. My 18 yr old daughter says it was the best holiday of her life. We travelled from Australia to stay in Ludlow and it was magic. The barn is huge inside and gave more than enough space for 8 people which included grandparents. We loved the character features, the huge kitchen layout with every utensil you could wish for. the bathrooms were high spec and well done too. Its the kind of place you can hang around in the day time if you are too tired of sight seeing and just kick back. This was the highlight of our 6 months journey. And a big thank you to the owners for your kindness to us! We'll be back ....one day.....
